This a case of an perceived sense of inadequacy and a desire to be recognized by the group. Sort of like the child doing things to get attention. The goal is get a good round of flaming started to get one of what is perceived to the group punished and to justify the locking of the thread.

This is quite true.If you don't like it ,don't read it.If you don't like spbed's posts,don't read them.Quite simple really,is it not?

Not really. After all, if he (or anybody else) doesn't like the Diner, he doesn't need to read it, much less post needless and unwanted information on the thread. We generally get along very nicely here. We've had our troublemakers come and go. His conduct is now bordering on the inflammatory posts we've endured from Missouri, Doggie, Detective CD and others. You'll note that they are no longer on the forums.

Or are they?

I think they're just jealous. The only thread I've seen on this forum that came close to the longevity of the Diner was Nora's "Stupid Question Thread" which was far from stupid - a lot of questions got answered there.

It's been said before, I'll say it again: You don't have to read the thread. If you don't like it, ignore it. No sense getting your shorts twisted up. I routinely ignore threads that don't interest me. I have little or no interest on western US super-local interest threads, so I rarely even stop in for a look.

The stated purpose of the Diner was, and is, non-railroad stuff. Despite a predominance of food, there has been discussion of significant weather, happenings in peoples lives, coming events, and I forget what else. We religiously avoid politics and religion - no good can come from discussing either here.

So, to whomever it is that feels that the diner should close - let it be. When interest wanes, it will slowly slide down the pages into oblivion. And while you're in the forums, stop over to the MR forum - if we're bad at 284 pages, they are positively terrible at over 400...

Is this for real?
A couple of people (according to spbed) think it is frivilous (my word) and encouraged spbed to disrupt it. So it is happening.

Seems there are some people on the forum that don't like the Diner. They want it shut down. So they are pushing for disruption.

Anyone out there want to discuss this, intelligently?

When my dad had his first heart attack (in the 60's - before all of todays miracle cures) he went on skim milk amongst the other changes in his diet. This was before the days of four kinds of white milk on the shelf. You got milk. So his skim milk was reconstituted, from powder. And it was his. The rest of us despised it...

We had Gurnseys. Now that was rich. Should we tell them it was raw? Mookie would have loved it. Maybe that is why mbkcs left her cat in Wisconsin.

Skim milk?!? Ick!!

Sorry, this is coming from a guy who had milk straight out of the bulk tank for 22+ years.
I can't drink anything less than 2 percent, tastes too much like chalky water.
