Joe, along with cooking breakfast, I'm also baking some cookies to fill up
the cookie jar. Chocolate chip, and oatmeal w/nuts.

Breakfast this morning will include oatmeal and cinnamon toast, along
with the regular assorted breakfast menu items.

Lunch today will be: fried chicken w/mashed potatoes and gravy, with your
choice of cole slaw or garden salad.

Despite what some people think, this is the Depot Diner, as well as a coffee
shop, and you have food and talk about food in a diner. We all have to
remember that in a coffee shop, you need to keep the discussions to topics
that are interesting to all the folks.

Tom, we deal with model-changeover shutdowns every year--the empty racks just pile up wherever they can find a place for them. If the plant shutdowns are more permanent, well, those things are dealt with. Eventually the business comes back, in the form of new plants or imported vehicles. (Sorry to sound so callous about the possible loss of good American jobs, but those are the facts of life.)

To borrow from The Dukes of Hazzard, shuttin' down the diner would be like goin' to church shirtless-it don't feel right!!

Anywho, Italian for dinner tomorrow night sounds REAL good. Could of used it tonight after playing in the hills in southwestern WI (them back roads is REAL fun in a pickup), but I can live untill tomorrow night.

I come here to escape the real world for a few minutes. I don't need it following me.

How about some cold chocolate?

Question: What effect would GM and Ford have on the RR's is they start shutting down plants?

Tom, how about a BIG glass of COLD chocolate milk, and a big slice of
cold chocolate pie?

MC, we do have some large Mason and Kerr jars. Lids are a combination

half gallon or gallon jars. Would come in handy, though, wouldn't they?![:p][}:)]

Which reminds me - must be I didn't get picked for that storm chase (WeatherBug was running a contest). Probably wanted somebody who would be in amazement, instead of an old hand (who would still be in awe).

One of those weird things - want to see a twister, but wouldn't wish one on anyone.

Larry, thank you for the roast, potatoes and carrots. We'll add that to what's
left of the pork roast. Still good. And we'll have some Heavenly Hash ice
cream for dessert. Didn't get around to the spaghetti due to Walt canning
mushrooms in the kitchen. So we'll have Itallian spaghetti tomorrow night.

The way I see it.

And you know, we do. We have some relatively long running discussions. So far the only lengthy discussion any of spbed's posts has engendered has been why we don't really care about what's being posted.

And we have. Including emails to spbed himself.

The question is why someone would persist in "upsetting" our "conversation." Wouldn't YOU consider that a bit rude? How would you feel if you started a thread on a topic and someone insisted on inserting random, unrelated tidbits into it? If spbed is so determined to post random bits of information gleaned from the news wires, why not start a new thread on current news? If people want to discuss current events, they can do it there.

It's no secret that the Diner is mostly nonsense, with some personal stuff thrown in from time to time. I think most of us want to keep it that way.

BTW - If you think we're "bad" here - stop over to the MR coffee shop - it's up to 400 pages...

Gee, and it was so nice in here for so long.

OK folks - here's the plan. SPBed (and railroadingman, for that matter) can post here to his hearts content. We will ignore him. I realize it means having to pick the worthwhile posts out of the chaff, but even acknowledging him just encourages him. Eventually the noise will go away.

Let's be realistic.
Has this thread become a 'need' for some people.
Do you post and then wait on tenterhooks until the next reply.

I've just had a rather splendid piece of beef in a guiness sauce.
Why this should interest you on a railway forum,I have no idea.Could it be inadequacy and a desire to be recognized by a group?
Gosh! There is a large World out there.
