Good morning! Hope you all have a good weekend, mine should be excellent! I, my wife, and my daughter are headed up to Minnesota to visit my parents and I and my Dad are hitting the big model RR show in St. Paul tomorrow. I'll have the camera along in case the urge to take pictures hits me. I'll try not to be a stranger, though, and check in from my Dad's PC. Next week, my wife and I head to Chicago on Wednesday morning to cash in on the remainder of her Christmas present- we have tickets to watch the play "Wicked". We're spending the night downtown and then returning Thursday. Lots of miles going on the minivan over the next week... TTFN!

I really didn't have time to snag the license number, and I was concentrating on the picture anyhow. Took it with the Digital Rebel set for ISO 100, f16, sitting on a pocket tripod on the back of the truck. Hit the shutter button and the exposure was in the 5 second range.

Composition-wise, it's awfully cluttered, but the effect I was looking for was there (the lights of the gates going down). Now to perfect it...

That's the thing about being retired. Friday is no longer special, no more holiday, snow and personal days and we have even had to give up the three weeks paid vacation.

Almost makes one want to go back to work. Right? Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Since the weather's so nice today, Mutt is grilling the fish out on the grill.
Larry, maybe if you're free after awhile, you can relieve Mutt for a bit. Don't
want you to feel left out, or unwanted.

Meanwhile, I'm in the kitchen deepfrying the hushpuppies and fries, and making
the cole slaw.

Morning All

Not a lot going on this morning, some laundry, just finished lunch, going to walk the dog and watch the noon news, then start getting ready for work. Friday is no longer special as my weekend is Tuesday and Wednesday. [:(]

I can bid on a Monday-Friday job at Jenks but probally do not have enough senority to get it or hold it. [V] Most of our jobs at Jenks would be running a forklift all day. We supply parts to various areas on pallet, dump small dumbsters into larger ones, and sometimes do a little clean up. There are a few other jobs availble there but usually require 8 to 10 years of senority to hold them. So maybe one of these days. [;)] But who knows, I might go into a different craft, we will just have to wait and see about that.

Kroger have Valentine cookies (you bake them) on sale for 85 cents a package. Well most of you who cook know that is a heck of a deal so I bought about 7 or 8 packs. [;)] [:p] [:)] They were normally about $3.69 a dozen or another type (smaller) 2 dozen. They even had small packs of icing. I have already went through about 3 packs. [:D] [:I] [:o)] [;)]

Well time for the news.

Everyone Take Care.

Thanks for the break Larry, and also to whomever fixed the plate for me !! [dinner]

I did get a chance to relax, but it mainly consisted in getting a 40'

When you are retired every day is a snow day, espeacilly if you live in Greenland. Oh man I can see myself out ice climbing almost every day and snowboarding. lol

Well, today has been very slow over here in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania. Nothing new is happening really. The weather over here is clear, but very windy and cold. So, I'm just in the house sitting here on the computer, listing to Mahler's symphony #7 second movement, drinking some Vitamin Water. Thats about all that is going on here now.

CW sorry I won't be able to stay for din din tonight because I'm eating out with a friend of mine. BUT, there isn't any food that tastes better than yours, espeacilly your Chicken and Dumplings!!!!!!!!![:D]

That is some very great music to listen to,if you have the time to sit,
relax, and actually enjoy the music. It brings on a pretty good feeling
of total solitude.
Seems the best we can do around here,being busy with the Diner;
are things like Arlo Gutherie's "City of New Orleans",John Denver's
"All Aboard",Jo***urner's "Long Black Train",et. al. [sigh]

Even though it's not in the same category, maybe one of these days,
I can sneak in Mason Williams' "Classical Gas" to listen to here.

Good evening all;

Well; my life has taken an interesting turn of events. A number of people in my program have nominated me to run for President of Student Council of the College.

In 2009, I am running for city councillor of my city-I have already begun the major task of homework on knowing the ins and outs of the city (not too impressed at the moment-now that I know what's going on and what can be done; a lot of improvement needs to be done).

I have been playing the piano live on an internet broadcast that I believe is affiliated with the BBC. I played a prelude that I wrote for a women who I now know is in love with me.

I have decided to stay an extra year at the college to get my diploma in Police Foundations so I can in addition to becoming a customs officer, train to become an auxillary police officer hopefully for Niagara Regional Police or Ontario Provincial Police.

I spent a summer in Greenland. Really. Pre-snowboards so there was NOTHING to do. I think the Air Force may still run BMEWS up on the ice cap-less it's been scrapped in favor of satellites. Enlist for an assignment up there and you will get all the snow you will ever want! (No trains, though.)

...I'm surprised when I walked outside for the paper....It's rather warm, in the low 40's and not windy...Thought we were to get a change but maybe the wind arrives later. Didn't pay enough attention to report last night...too interested in basketball game....It was a bummer....{Pacer's}, went into O T and lost one of those cliff hangers...Lost another player to injury....That's {4}, off roster now...and it's beginning to hurt...Oh, yea...had another key player off on a one game suspension....for what, is a mystery to us....Now we have several games on the road and that gets rougher yet....!

It's coming, Quentin!

The wind shift hit us at 3:40 a.m., and the temperature dropped about five degrees per hour until the sun came up.

Sorry, no spare Mahler lying around here. Sarah, now that you've been indoctrinated into the seventh, you'll have to listen to Mahler #6. Talk about raw emotion! Daughter played in a performance a couple of years ago; we were both in tears.

Joe, thanks for getting the coffee and cocoa ready, and putting the muffins in the
oven. Was up until almost 1 this morning, so I'm late getting in here this morning.
Was having too good a time with a phone conversation last night.

Everyone have a great day, and please make it back safely tonight for the pizza fest.

Officially 22 degrees here, bright sun, forecast is calling for 31. I'll take it.

Today is the first Saturday in six that I don't have appointments. Not that I couldn't, but I am going to Chicago this afternoon to catch the Cardinal for Cincinnati. Eli is baptised tomorrow and then we are driving back home tomorrow evening. Originally I was going to drive but since the wife went there Thursday, that would be two cars making the trip. Train fare is 30 bucks less than I would pay for gas, beside it is a train and not a car. Who knows, I may have the new Trains to read on the trip. That would be perfect.

Assuming our business forecast holds, we are a little over halfway for this year. The pace slows up a little from now to mid-April and the 50+ hour weeks drop back to 40 or so. One thing I know for sure, three months a year is more than enough for me.

Speaking of working hard, I have several clients that work at the Chrysler Belvidere (IL) plant who have presented 6 figure W-2's. Seems like they have spent most of '05 on a 10/7 schedule. Makes me tired just to think about it.

Morning All

It is cloudy here today but not much rain over night. I see that most of the rain is currently south of us but still in the state. That is good because Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas were in the drought and had severve grass and forest fires just a few months ago. They needed the rain. Actually most of the state needs the rain but I am in the truck on the weekends and having to work in the rain (in my bright orange reflective clown suit [:o)] [:0] ) is no fun. You get almost as wet wearing it as without it because you sweat in it so much. [V]

I stayed up late Thursday night and was tired at work last night so I slept late this morning. [:(] [8] [B)] That makes today go so fast and I have to be at work one hour earlier on the normal weekends because my job starts earlier. [8] So you can say I really am behind the 8 ball today. [;)]

I made another dozen cookies last night after work. [:p] All gone now. [:D] [;)] [:D]

I think a Little Ceasar's pizza sounds good today for lunch and supper. I just might have to do that. [:p][^]

If you have not checked out the Fairbanks Morse engine topic you should do so. The discussion of the British Deltic engine is very interesting.

I hope that is the correct link.

I've got the pizzas prepared for tonight's pizza fest, and will be putting them
into the oven in about an hour. The pizzas on tonight's menu are:
1. cheese
2. sausage & pepperoni
3. supreme
4. pineapple
5. special, with anchovies on it

JIM: there's a sausage & pepperoni for you to take to work with you, if you're
interested.

Back in--a slice of pineapple, please!

The bike is in the shop for its annual overhaul. The first half of next week is going to be cold, and the second half is going to be spent elsewhere anyway, so this is a good tiome to get it done.
