Oh Brian - you don't know what you are missing - anything with pecans is pure heaven!

And chocolate chip cookies require English Walnuts! To die for....probably!

All additional greetings....Thank you all....and CW...everytime I hear bologna sandwiches it makes my mouth water....and would you believe I never think of getting any of the stuff to make any....Nor do I mention it to Jean.....Strange.

The Key Lime bars sound great--will they last a couple of weeks?

The hygeinist brutalized me today. Have one tooth that's going to need major work (it's been through a lot already).

We occasionally whip up a batch of bologna salad--grind up a ring of bologna, add pickle relish and Miracle Whip (light) to taste, and it lasts a few days around here. Good on bread, or if I'm in a hurry I dip a cracker or two into it.

Pecan Pie Bars! And folks are complaining about how sweet Peeps are!

Can't decide if I want a Pecan Pie Bar or a Key Lime Bar, so I'll have one of each (don't tell the bathroom scale!)

I'm so glad you all are enjoying the key lime bars and pecan pie bars. Just found
them at the grocery yesterday, and decided to try them! Have plenty left for dessert
after supper tonight.

Speaking of which, supper tonight will be Italian spaghetti w/meat sauce, garden
salad, and Texas toast w/garlic butter.

Carl, I'm not too sure about your ground up bologna. Don't think I want to go there.

And a Bim Bottom of the Evening to you all (That is the opposite of "Tip Top of the Morning," right?),

Well, it was a bit of a lack-luster day PMA show-wise wasn't it? Truly, I think the Canon 30D should have been named the 20D Mk II after it's specs were revealed. Some nice upgrades, but does it really warrant a new product name (and especially one that will surely generate no end of confusion considering there has already been a D30 in the Canon line-up)?

The 17-55 f2.8 IS is appetizing, but alas! is another one of those dreaded EF-S lenses that those of us using anything made before the Digital Rebel cannot use (all three of us anyways...).

And then there was the new 85mm f1.2L Mk II. A faster focusing version of the oldy...but $2100? I thought the Mk. I was pricey at $1400! Sadly, this means the used market for the original should remain pretty high, too.

And then the poor Nikon folks get (yet) another Macro lens. I question the use of Vibration Reduction on a Macro. If you're not using a tripod for your macro shots, you're probably not doing them very well.

Well, I guess there's always Photokina to look forward to in September!

Meanwhile, how have you all been? I've been well. Still busy, but I guess that keeps me out of trouble. Also signed myself up for Netflix, so I've been catching up on some movies that I've missed (OK...so this is a pretty long list). Last one watched (and loved) was "Million Dollar Baby." It totally deserved all the Oscars thrown its way. Especially Hillary Swank for Best Actress...simply marvelous performance.

Well, I must be on my way. Hope you are all doing well. Take care!

TTFN!

Good morning, everyone. Hope everyone has a great day today.

Breakfast will be: blueberry muffins, oatmeal & toast, or a bowl of
cereal, if you prefer.

I've got the CD player going this morning. Was too quiet when I came
in this morning. So I'm listening to all our train song CDs while the
coffee is dripping, and the water heating for tea or cocoa. And there is
milk heating for hot chocolate. OH-OH: mini marshmallows running
low. Going to have to make a da***o thestore after a bit to get more. Is
someone sneaking them to make smores, or peeps?!?!

Chris - I'm still learning my Digital Rebel XT - so many features, so little time. That whole thing with the EF-S focal lengths is a pain. So's the price. I want to pick up a longer lens, but the pocketbook won't stand the strain right now.

Gotta have that oatmeal. At least until they decide that it really doesn't do anything for ones cholesterol...

What did Chris say? CW - I would look to him for the person on sugar overload! He will have to rest in the hammock until he quits babbling!

Warmer days, cold, quiet nights. Perfect! BNSF ran the wheels off their trains again last night. Had a 3 am crossing blast that left no doubt they were moving!

A real night owl - "I am up, so will make sure all within hearing distance will be too! "

Crossing whistle for pre-crossing, crossing, post crossing and make them l-o-n-g!!!!! I enjoyed it, but not sure anyone else did!

Gotta find coffee.

This puter pounding takes a skill I don't have this early!

Say Good Night, Joe!

Mookie, guess from above comment, that you now have new neighbors in the
duplex. Thinking they must be nice, quiet people. Haven't heard otherwise: at
least, not yet.

Lunch today: turkey breasts that have been cooking in the Crock Pot, with a
can of cream of mushroom soup. (Won't say the other cream of -------, out of
respect for someone here). There's enough of the turkey breasts, that we'll
have the same thing for supper, with fried taters added to the menu.

Have some more key lime bars made for dessert today. (Don't worry Carl, I
have a box to make when you get here.)

Hi! I might need a high-energy lunch today--it looks like the weather will be good enough for a round trip to work on the bike. That ought to put me over 150 miles for the year.

But to do that, I have to leave earlier--so back to work around here!

You will definitely know when we get neighbors. I may have to change my address if it goes as usual! [xx(]

Funny you should mention Lower Slobovia - we got our annual raise and my paycheck went down $10.....

Hope the rent is cheaper there!

Nope - didn't know any of them, but I am pleased that they won. They sound like a very nice group of people. That's who you want to win -

Having said that - I am going to make sure I introduce myself to them. After all - I watch trains right in their work backyard. That surely makes us neighbors?

Speaking of the powerball. I do have a question why is it when the jackpot is hit, it is always hit out in the mid west or west, never in the east or in the south. I think there is something fishy going on here. hummmmmmmmmm lol. Here is what I think the South and the North on the eastern portion of the states..........IT'S TIME TO RISE UP!! IT'S TIME TO GET OUT TAX DOLLARS BACK!! [:D][(-D] LOL.

Carl, you were talking about how you needed a high energy lunch today. Here are some tips. Make sure you drink at least two Monster Enegry Drinks, eat two bags of peanut M&Ms, eat some Starbursts, and a bag of Skittles. You should have all the energy you need and then some!! Once upon a time I had to do something along those lines when I played ice hockey.

....Sarah....Similar ticket winnings {of various values}, happen in your state....I was one of a group of 4 who purchased our "tickets" many, many years ago...long before you were born and at that time the winner was determined by reading the US Treasury numbers posted in the paper daily...The ticket was good Monday through Friday and was worth 3 times the normal amount on Friday by having all 5 numbers.....and would you believe we...and we were very young at the time...{about your age now}, and hit all 5 numbers on a Monday....So it's possible to win in the east too even though this was a bit different and many, many years ago.....

Sarah, I can see now why everyone thinks you're so sweet...M&Ms, Starbursts, Skittles--all my favorites, but I usually get by on a bag of almond M&Ms, eaten soon after work begins.

Were you counting me as a 10D user? I assume you have the Canon 24-85, which looks like an early predecessor of the 17-85. In Australia, that retailed at AUD 600 (about $450) and it took me a long time to get it, but it is a very nice lens EXCEPT that the manual focus switch can be engaged more easily than any other Canon lens I've used (and I had EOS film cameras for nine years before I got the 10D. I managed to get a fairly basic Canon 28-200 and that is a really good general purpose lens for rail photography. I had a Tamron 28-200 dating from my film days, but it was not sharp enough. I don't like using even the 24-85 at full wide angle even for static loco photos because the perspective is too pronounced, so I probably wouldn't get a 17-85 even if it did fit the 10D.
