Well, you can all breathe a sigh of relief. The closest we came to that power ball tix is about 3 blocks away, where we sit trackside. I hope the silence is because they are smart enough to call professionals before they claim the prize.

I had a good chunk of it spent before Driver got up yesterday morning - to get it out of his billfold. Had to send it all back! Including the lottery ticket! Bah!

But I did have this scenario -

Sunday afternoon - nice SD70 cab - you could see Jim and Tim in their comfy seats, probably sharing some hot chocolate (more marshmellows Jim?) with their shirtsleeves and window cracked slightly - (little too warm in the cab for you Tim?) Getting paid to be comfy.

Two people sitting in 21 degree weather trackside (wind chill 17) bundled up and trying not to run the heater until almost fatal frost bite, with stupid grins on one of their faces.
Ever try to write with mittens on?

Everyone smiled! I would like to think it is because we were all happy with our respective situations and not because we think someone is off their trolley!

.....Another day of sunshine is unfolding for us.....about 12 degrees warmer this morning than yesterday....{Still no zero}, here yet.....Hope it continues like that too.
When I heard Lincoln, NE being involved over the weekend with the PowerBall of course my mind wondered...just COULD it be....but from what I'm reading above I guess not....But that is bringing it mighty close....!
No snow here ....just temps in the teens this morning....and now to get warmer as the week goes on.
On water pipes {above}, It's been my experience if one keeps them reasonably enclosed and out of the wind they will not get into much trouble.....I have water pipes in outside walls at two places in this house...one bathroom {in to under the vainty and in to serve the kitchen and all outside walls have blown in cellulose {sp?}, insulation and of course no wind can get to them....and in 35 years {since we had it built}, no freezing...! Heat is in the ceiling too....Cable heat....
Hope everyone will feel some of the warm-up that we will be experiencing here this week.....
One other note on subject.....Have 2 outside water faucets {of course the kind that are supposed to be non-freezing}, but in addition to that, I install "insulated mittens" on them I purchased someplace just for the protection purpose...Just for a bit of added protection....

Boy for a few minutes Mudchicken was in serious trouble. Rumor had it that it was a person from Colorado that was claiming the prize. Rumor has since been killed off.

So we are still waiting. There is a population of citizens that live under the open skies in that area, so maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to buy lots of stock in adult beverages. Just in case.....

Well, made it back from the library, and the lunch sandwiches are disappearing
mighty fast!! Looks like I'll have to make up some more. I've also put on a pot
of beef vegetable soup, and a pot of homemade chicken noodle soup, and a
pot of Carl's Hearty Soup (made with turkey).

Have plenty of soup (both vegetable beef and Carl's Hearty Soup) for supper
tonight. Will also have grilled cheese sandwiches to go with the soup.

Got a couple of surprises in the works for desserts tomorrow. (Just want you
all to try to figure out what I'll be baking tomorrow.)[}:)][:D]

Maybe the cherry pie will come out on the real day (2/22, for those who are too young).

Want to hear about a combination of pain and pleasure? I'm hoping it will be warm enough in the morning for me to bike to my dental appointment (just the checkup, I hope!).

Then again to work in the afternoon. I should let the world know that I'm working with a hump conductor who, if he had the sense to look out the window, would still need an interpreter for what he saw! Talks a good line, though--maybe they'll make a manager out of him.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone! Well, looks like we might be coming out of
the freezer today! Our current temp is in the upper twenties. and our high today
is to be right about 40! That'll be a heat wave, won't it, folks?!?!

Mudckicken, sorry about the chicken noodle soup last night. How about the next
time I make soup, I make it mushroom soup with alphabet noodles in it, instead?

Breakfast is all ready, and on the warmer bar: turkey bacon, sausage patties &
links, biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and hashbrowns.

I'll be back in a bit; getting ready for those people wanting to sign in to get produce
this morning. Should be hearing the doorbell ring any time, now.

I'll let you all know what the surprise desserts will be a little bit later this
morning. PROMISE!!

Joe - I have yellow mudchickens and pink bunnies for my one co-worker that can only eat with one hand. (she would go through the entire box if I let her use two!) No one else will come close to them, but she loves them. She is also high energy - wonder why?

Peeps? Let me check with my sister (in Aurora, CO). All she needs is a long fork and a campfire (she says they are fantastic toasted!)

Peeps are one of the few things that go over the top of the sweetness tolerance for me.

....Oh yes, that was a slip up.....Next time I'll just forward it {the chocolate cake}, along to the forum....Jen and Walt note. Those cakes at Red Lobster are pretty darn good....and not expensive either....It costs about as much to purchase 2 pcs. at the restaurant as does purchasing a whole cate to take along....
Jen and Walt...Thanks....but can't handle 75 more.

Okay, folks!! The surprise desserts today are: key lime bars and pecan pie bars (made
like the lemon bars).

Quentin: a belated [bday] wish from me to you!! Gee, if you'd like, you could turn the
numbers around, and say that you're 57[:D].

At Produce today, we got: brocolli, oranges, taters, lettuce, cabbage and baby carrots.

Have made tuna salad sandwiches for lunch, along with some bologna &
cheese sandwiches, and tomato soup.

Little rock throwing outside, so think I will stay in here in the hammock, where it is safe!
