Wonder if Jim was referring to Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes.
Seems like it's about time for them to "surprise a winner."

Stan, here's your burgers and your baked tater. Hope you enjoy it.

Well, I entered that one, and there's no commotion happening around here tonight, so I think it's safe to assume that I didn't win. At least maybe now I'll get a breather from all the e-mails they keep sending me- "We could be coming to your house!"[:P]

Jim

About taxes. Look at it this way: It is just a matter of paying "IN" sooner or later.

Mutt and Cher, you're not painting nearly as rosy a picture as the "five-day" that came with my reservation! It didn't say anything about rain.

Guess I'll have to sing the sad refrain, "Grill of my Dreams..."

Joe, thank you for putting the coffee on, and making the juice. Only been up
a few minutes. Need the coffee to get me going and fixing breakfast.

Menu this morning: toast, cereal and fresh fruit. Got cantaloupe and
strawberries this morning.

Carl, don't think the rain's to be too heavy. Probably won't be too bad.

Taxes - I've "drafted" mine, better get busy and fill in the official forms. Feds owe me, but I owe the state. At least the balance sheet is still positive. I've been in the "We owe HOW much?" situation myself. It's no fun.

I'll have some of that cantaloupe. Not worth buying for the house - I like it, but it can get tiresome, and it doesn't keep once you start on it.

Tree - eat 1/2 cantaloupe each day. It will make your eyes glisten and keep the orange in your coat. It's fantastic!

....Jim, your 77 degrees sounded good for yesterday, we're to get to 60 today. This new month of March can produce wide swings in weather...Transition time. Can be in the 70's here or a foot of snow...{but won't last long}, type of weather. But I'm glad we're out of the "winter stuff" months....and heading to spring time of later this month......

Can't be going around doing that to our customers !!!![(-D]

Well since all of my guns were stolen years ago I don't have any. [:(] BUT since the police officers all get 1/2 price here in the diner and FREE coffee I could borrow one of their firearms. Get well soon. Will a few Advil help that "groan?" Sorry, I don't have anything stronger. I can find some Vicks Niquil if that would help, then you can settle down into the hammock for a nice nap. [:X]

I would love a nap but have way too much housework to do. [:(!] I was off yesterday but half the day was taken up with taxes. [:(] I did some errands and finally grocery shopping so it was a busy day.

Jim - just uncap the Nyquil and wave it around the room. That would be enough to put me to sleep!

I may have to take the Uncle Carl Show on the road. But we would have to take a 3rd party to play the "straight man"!

Think the Mutt needs to find a writer for himself.

Lunch today: tuna salad sandwiches or ham salad sandwiches w/fries,

Made some M&M cookies this morning for dessert today.

If I had just shut up, Mookie would never have emitted that first groan, Jim--no meds needed.

This might be my last visit to the virtual diner for a few days, unless someone wants to share a computer. I'm not sure the pastures will be greener down south (still too early for that?), but things will be unusual and interesting. I definitely won't mind playing the tourist, or the visiting railfan. We also hope to play guest, host, and friend. The umbrellas will be available, if needed.

Lunch sounds yummy today--one trick done often around here is to put the M&Ms into peanut butter cookies, or "forgotten" cookies (which are basically dry meringue).

(Cher, our bologna salad is probably a lot like your ham salad--in looks, anyway!)

BC - have a safe trip - (guess I can't say "see you in the fall", since it is the wrong season). Hug the homefolks for me! Sister S, too!

CW - last time I told my girlfriend - in jest , only in jest - it was ok to ship her soon to be ex back to Nebraska, she did! After I got over being totally speechless, (imagine that!) I was and am still thrilled to this day!

I thought everyone would like the M&M cookies for a change. Been awhile since
I've baked any.

Think supper tonight will be BLTs with chips. We seem to have an abundance of
chips right now. Someone must have bought out all that was in the grocery.[:I]

Got plenty cookies left for dessert tonight. May even get the ice cream out of the
freezer to go with the cookies.

Anyone seen my Hawaiian shirt? I thought that since it was 81 now I might as well put it on. [:D] [;)] [8D] They predicted 79 as the high but at noon said it might make 80 or even 81. Since it is only about 2:15 I bet we can make 85. We will see.

I have a window or two up and am thinking about raising some more. I had the clothes washer going and the dishwasher so it is nice and warm in here. When the dishwasher hits that drying phase it will be much warmer too.

I have way too much housework to even think about doing anything outside. The dog has spend several period of time outside today and will probally spend some more out there.

March first and 81. WOW [:0] [8] I think Mother Nature has been hitting the bottle. [8] [B)] [:0]

I bought some hamburger meat yesterday and was planning to make a meatloaf today. Since it is this warm I might regroup, but not sure, I must cook it or lose it. [:(] Maybe by 6 or so it will drop down and be some cooler.

Those BLTs sure sound mighty good tho. [;)] [:p] Actually I could use a couple about right now. My hot dogs has worn off already.

Well Duchess has decided it is time for a walk.

Jim;not sure what our offical high temp. was today, since we were
out most of the afternoon, but just after 5:00pm my outdoor "arthur"
was showing 74. Saw a few topless guys, and quite a few pairs of
shorts on people.(plus the usual, regular idiots.)

Carl;that first groan that Mook made,I guess was your fault;the
second one was for the one that I sent you, about the "rustler."
Hope you guys have a safe trip down this way,and hope the weather
WILL cooperate for us. I'm really looking forward to being
able to absorb some of your expertise on a few things !!
(computer rental is available;for a small phenomenal fee !!! [:D] )

Joe;if that "item" that dirty feathers was talking about does "tangle"
with that overpass there,I think that this would be one time, that the
overpass would lose !!! That was incredible !!!! How that IDIOT
made it that far through it,is way beyond me !!

Well, I can say this much I'm really glad I'm not up in Philadelphia right now! hehehehe Today was the first day since last fall that I was able to break out my short sleeve shirt! As Mutt said it was warm down here! Up in Philadelphia the high was around 30 something degrees, glad I'm not up there now.

Carl, while you are breaking out your umbrella's just in case it rains down here, I'm going to be breaking out my offical New York Police Dept. Jacket. hehehehehe

Joe, in regards to the overpass / construction equip merger. I think, the highway department should just repave and re seal the overpass, w/ the construction equipment still in the middle of the road. From a distance it would seem as if the road is actually fliping off the bird to all the drivers that drive the overpass. lol That would be so totally cool!!!![:D][:D][:D]

Well we hit 82 today before some clouds came by. I guess they are the forerunners to the rain we are suspose to be getting from Thursday throught Sunday.

I still have doors and windows open. There is a nice breeze but it is still pretty warm in the house.

I think I am going to make a call, I wonder who the lucky people will be. [:o)] [;)] [:D]

A Big hello to all of our friends @ the Diner.>>
We had a reasonably good run to the southwest , w/ little trouble from the weather & roads . A run across I -70 to I-25 South to A bq. West on I-40 to I-17 @ Flag . And south to Mesa , Az. Stopped at an odd little wide spot in the road called Cordes Junction, for fuel . They don't have a fuel lane . Had to go round back and drop tlr. Then wedge onto island . Talk about Hooterville { cool} . Also , of all things this place is affectionatly called Malfunction Junction . It is at the top of a long 13 stretch of 6% grades w / 6% down grades in between . We were headed south but the road was just as bad. A stop at Sunset Point to inquire of things was nice. It was funny to run 2.200 miles to stop at the Jct. Finally got to daughters chateau and tied up at @ I-10 truck &rest .All safe & well , just { run out } tired . Hard runnin' will do that . 33 1/ 2 hrs. actual drive time . We will buy supper for everyone @ the Diner , in gratitude . See ya'll later
Cannonball & Shirl>>>>.
