Hi everyone, this is my first time posting here. I usually hang out on the MR forum, but I had to stop by and try some of them sausages and pancakes. I hear cherokee woman is a great cook.

Ah - Wildlife. Before I fenced in the back yard we had a possum up on the back porch one night. I put together a snare on a pole and dragged it out, then hightailed for cover. It didn't come back...

Get rabbits in the yard every now and then, even with the fence. When the Dalmatian was living here, he'd find them and they'd forget how they got in... I think he caught three.

A favorite 'weapon' for hunting deer around here is the automobile (as it is in many places). I think the drivers get almost as many as the hunters... I was headed for the kids high school a while back when I crested a hill to the sight of seven, nose to tail across the road. Had I wanted to damage the new truck, I probably could have put it sideways and gotten about 5.... Stopped in plenty of time.

For now it's the birds and an occasional squirrel. Current visitors include chickadees, sparrows (several varieties), nuthatches, downy and hairy woodpeckers, juncoes, cardinals, grosbeaks, mourning doves, blue jays, and probably some purple finches and redpolls, although I haven't picked them out to the crowd lately. Seeing all the birds is relaxing, but they sure do like that sunflower seed. A daily fill is around two gallon containers worth, plus keeping suet in the suet feeder... I buy black oil sunflower seed by the 50 lb bag.

Germanium - Must be you don't have any raccoons, since they'd just take on those trash containers as a challenge...

Welcome, Stan--Cher's the greatest! Plenty of good friends (and a few stinkers) pop in here to impart wisdom, wit, and whatever. Enjoy! But don't miff the cat!

Tree68, try cresting a hill and coming eye to eye with a moose. Even that atheist from another thread on this forum would find God.

Mutt, you know I don't overcharge on the meals around here!! If anything, I
undercharge on the meals. I'm definitely "old school" and prefer giving
everyone more than their money's worth of food.

Breakfast this morning will be: turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns,
sausage, biscuits & gravy. Everything's laid out on the warmer food bar, so
just help yourselves. I'll check back in after I get Produce taken care of.

$ ^~^ $

Hi Stan - welcome to the local zoo!

I got my fur brushed and smoothed so feeling better about everything. Like my new earrings????

And wouldn't you just know it - opened the back door to feed the livestock and there it was! The Aflack Duck! I give up!

Driver put out some pretty cold water yesterday afternoon (61 degrees) and immediately a robin came and stood in the water. Evidently had sore feet from walking back from down south? Driver said he stood there quite some time - didn't move. Probably looking for work as a statue in a fountain.

Pancakes aren't my favorite (syrup in fur you know) so will settle for some.....hang on.....
this will be good......guaranteed.........Grilled bacon and cheese sammich and ........chocolate milk!!!!! Breakfast of Champions! Extra time in the hammock!

Joe - ouch! Offer her some of my chocolate milk - probably won't help her ankle, but will make her face smile!

Germanium - we have a resident fox right where we watch trains. Sometimes my attention is divided!

Tree - used to put out bird seed, but then found it attracted unwanted small critters of all sizes and colors - ugh. So now will do corn and peanuts until warm weather and then just scatter a few peanuts for the squirrels. Saw one yesterday - playing with the empty corn cob.

As C Brown would say - Good Grief!

Mook; hope the "duck" wasn't there to do work for you,as he seems
to be a bit "accident prone" himself, like saving the lady from the train,
and then getting hit by another train...................And,there's always
the Gecio Gecko to show up for handouts [:D]

Joe;hope mamma's ankle injury is not serious, and heals quickly.

Plenty of visuals on fauna at work, including things I'd rather not see up close (Wyl-E's relatives, Pepe's relatives, and so on).

My bike tire has had some direct contact with rabbits and possums, but I don't think I did much more than stun them.

A couple of years ago I was just about blindsided by a thundering herd of deer in Michigan--they barrelled across the bike path within ten feet of me, like I didn't exist. I was tired and dragging toward that end of a long trip, but that sort of woke me up!

Wish I were you-know-where about now!

Been there, but it was dusk, I didn't see them as I rode by on the road, and they took off behind me... Sheesh!

Since it's going to be such a nice day today, I've got Mutt starting the barbeque, so
that we can have steak, pork chops, burgers and hot dogs on the grill today.

Got sides of baked beans, "grilled" baked taters, cole slaw, potato salad, tater
chips, pretzels, and cheese curls.

Stan, [#welcome] to the forums and to the Depot Diner and Coffee Shop.
Have a complimentary piece of cake, or slice of pie as a welcome from all
of us at the Diner!!

Dessert: sliced pears w/fruit dip.[:D]

BTW Mookie: LOVE the new earrings!!

Going to have more of the lunch menu for supper tonight. Too nice to be eating
indoors. Of course, we'll be back inside in a couple of days: supposed to start
raining here.

Got plenty of the steaks, pork chops, burgers and hotdogs, and "grilled" baked
taters, etc.

If Spring is not here it is sure doing one heck of a good acting job. [:D] It is 77 here right now and nice and sunny. [:D] Rain is in the forecast for Thursday and Friday.

That is the good news, now for the bad news. I had my taxes done today. I will be paying "IN" this year. [:(!] [:(!] [:(!] Now I will change the subject before I start shooting customers. [;)] [:o)] [:D]

I am sooooo tired. Thank God it is Friday. [;)]

Fried Fish and FF (yes, Matt can have a few) sounds good tonight.

Oh and don't forget to watch the Evening News tonight. Someone is going to win 10 Million dollars and that someone could be you. [:o)] [:I] [:o)]

will get here, when it gets here.[:D]

I'm glad somebody can win the lottery, we don't have it here in Alabama. If we play, we have to go to Georgia.
