[#welcome] to the Depot Diner & Coffee Shop. Hope you enjoy each and
every meal you have here with us. Have you checked out the train
layouts in here? The guys (and gals) did a fantastic job on their
layouts, wouldn't you agree? You'll have to ask Mookie about her layout.

Just like we do for someone who comes in on their birthday, any vet
who comes in will get a free slice of cake or pie, whichever is their
choice.

Well,could be because I misspelled a word,or the
fact that I have to control MY TEMPER,and not say
certain things.

Tharmeni, I thought I answered your question, or at least gave my opinion.

I think it's an amazing coincidence. Amtrak instituted its own numbering system nationwide not too long after inception, and although the Riley name stuck for a while, it was one of the 50/51 pair of trains. Eventually, these trains were shifted over the former C&O line, completely away from Indianapolis. Indianapolis went without Amtrak service for years.

Today's 317, the Hoosier State, has a 300-series number similar to those used on other Amtrak Midwest regional trains, regardless of the routes they run on. No route in common, only one intermediate stop (Lafayette) in common. So, yes, I think that the assignemnt of that number is only an amazing coincidence.

Gee, I hate to toss my railroad question back on the table...but I don't believe I had my question asnwered the other day.
I have an old ticket of my dad's that shows him riding NYC train #317 (Believe it was the "James Whitcomb Riley") between Indy and Chicago in 1955.
Today's "Hoosier State" is also #317...so the question is, did Amtrak assume some, all or none of the previous train numbers when it took over service? Or, as an earlier diner mentioned, was it just a miracle that #317 betwen Indy and Chicago survived.
Now... if I could have the Sweet and Low packet, please...

Now that sounds very good.
Don't guess you will have enough time to 'check out' the "Arch".
Never been in the "Arch" proper, but they have a good museum
in the base of it. I didn't have enough time for the tour when I was
there, had to get home so I could go to Guard Drill the next day.

CW, am 51, 8 grandchildren, and still play in a band on weekends. After I saw Beatles on ED S. Mom bought me a guitar and I never looked back. The GKids think it's hilarious that GP plays in aband, still sneaks in rides on Harley when he's not playing with trains. I TOO work the vampire shift (on swing) so I know all about shutting the ringer off! Telemarketers suck. I wi***here was some way I could call them at home in the middle of their night [banghead][censored][(-D]

I am very proud to say that I'm now 53 years old, young, however you
want to say it. My birthday was made even more special when my
twin brother called me before he went to work last night. He works
7 p.m. to 7 a.m., so he sleeps most of the day, and turns the ringer
off on the phone so pesky people don't wake him up. Would NOT
want to be 28 or 29 again.

Good morning everyone! After such a good day yesterday, I can't talk
this morning. But what a great day I had.

Breakfast this morning is: turkey bacon or sausage with pancakes.
You can have maple syryp, blueberry syrup or fresh blueberries,
fresh strawberries on your pancakes.

Lunch today will be: tuna fish sandwiches and leftovers from the
celebration yesterday. Wasn't the party great yesterday?!
