CARL!!! Up a few post--- I was here at the crack of 9:13:40 this morning!!!

I wonder where those Denver people get off trying to say they have the worst drivers! You guys have been huffing too much of that mile high air. Ritecheer in SE WI, I could find 10 bad drivers for every one of yers. And what's wrong with shaving while driving to work. The only time you have to steer with the knees is while stropping the razor.

Forgot to mention--Chris, by all means get in touch before you come up next time. Some days will be better than others. Haven't seen anything from Jay since our visit yesterday, but he also suggested some sort of Forum get-together, and having someone like you around might help (it almost worked with MC!).

MC...did have a couple lightning strikes this morning...couple fairly close to home. It was almost cold enough for "Thundersnow," too. Been awhile since I've seen that, even in this crazy weather state.

It's interesting that you posted the "Denver Driving Lesson" page. Once upon a time when I was a brand new 20 year old immigrant here, I e-mailed a Denver driving guide back to my family in Illinois. There are some striking similarities (if any of you would like to see it, drop me an e-mail and I can forward it to you).

As for Boulder...well...all I can say is it's Boulder. It really isn't supposed to make sense, apparently. Maybe corailfan can shed some light on it...isn't he from the "People's Republic of Boulder?" [(-D][(-D][(-D]

Afternoon all! Been busy here on the sandbar, blew up my Bronco II, and have been doing some work to the pickup so I've got wheels under me again. Only gave 500 for the Bronco and got a year and a half and 60K miles so I did allright. I loved the mileage and it made a great chase vehicle. I really don't want to run the diesel, but it's paid for. Also, being a 4 dr crew cab, I can get four railfanners and all the associated gear in there comfortably. Just don't like the $3.19 diesel prices right know.
Joe, are you rooting for a Chicago team now? I just hope the 'Stros can beat those redbirds.
CW, bring on the chili!!!!!!! Hope Mutts toof feels better. Try rubbing some of that "Tennesee soda pop" on it. You know the one with the JD on the label. It always worked on the kids when they were teething.
Will stop in after supper for a snack and a soda. Willy

Now, MC, that's hardly the way to promote tourism to your fair city! I'm sure my sister Jen would say that these driving rules explain a lot (I, however, did not notice the things of which she warned me when you drove).

Seriously, the time we took the train to Denver (about 30 years ago), we rented a car, and were told by the prople in the office there to watch out for precisely some of those behaviors!

As for you, dear Sarah, I still think there is something about Pennsylvania. It just seems different, and the difference is good! Coming from the west, the hills begin in Ohio (as you well know now), but It somehow looked or felt different as soon as we crossed the line. It isn't just the mountains--you get those in West Virginia, too, but they're different.

And if it's trains you want, I could probably arrange for you to see a couple around Chicago, next time you feel like a road trip (or train trip). Meanwhile, just relax in the time you have before school starts, and don't let anything or anyone get to you. AMG

Have some more chilli for supper tonight. Froze some after I made it last week.
Will also have some grilled cheese sandwiches. Mutt has a very bad toothache,
so know he will want something to eat that's on the soft side: so he won't have
to do much chewing!!

...There are plenty areas of Pennsylvania that are so pretty....Of course the mountain areas are included in that but oh when winter comes around {for my desires}, than it can get pretty nasty and long lasting with the increased elevations.
Plenty of rail actions still in some areas of Pa....Horseshoe area still is very active and points west.....The hurricane you mention {Sarah}, I heard on the morning news has just in overnight time frame ballooned into a cat. 5....!! It will be Saturday until it comes in contact {as now projected}, with western Florida so where it goes from there is still a bit iffy.

Finally I'm able to get back in the diner. I've been gone for quite a while, though I was still very much able to have some of CW's good home cooking!! I love those chicken and dumplings!

CW and Mutt thank you so much for having me, I really do appreciate the kind words also, I try to be all of those things lol. I'm sort of glad and not glad to be back. I'm glad that I'm done driving, but I'm not happy to be back here in borring PA. If I had more time I would still be in Louisville.

I really, shouldn't knock off PA like that, it is really a beautiful state, espeacilly the mountain reagons. I've been camping / hiking on all of the mountain ranges before. The only thing I don't like about PA is the decreased amount of rail traffic we have, plenty of interstates and back roads though. Speaking of Pa I hear we're suposed to be getting a hurricane here sometime next week in PA! Well, maybe I should of stayed with CW and Mutt then huh? If we do get a major rain storm next week, I think I will go out and watch the rising waters of the Susquehanna River.

Carl and Larry happy belated b-day!

Good morning

Got another bright Fall day here today, but a slug of cooler air has been ship down from our friends in Canda. Yesterday was one of those days mother nature puts out to try to get us to think that we live in an area with a nice climate.

On top of that yesterday was a very pleasant lunch with Carl and Pat Shaver, then, with Carl, a tour of Proviso Yard and some trackside time at the Wheaton Metra (UP) station. Carl had told me that the hump operation is down for maintenance on the First shift on Tuesday and he thought that business past Wheaton was a little slow. No problem Carl. I saw more railroad in in a few hours than I would see in months here at home. My only regret is that I didn't get a good shot of that tunnel motor, but then I am not certain that I had ever seen one of those in person.

Thanks for a great day.

Good Morning all; I'm actually at the college right now waiting for the Police Procedures class to start.

Long day today. After this, I might go home and visit a friend who could use some company. She is working on a major project for her course and is starting to feel the pressure. Don't know if I can go at noon though. I have to find out what we will be doing in the Criminal Justice System and Sociology classes first; I know there is a test on the Police Procedures tommorow which actually pretty easy if you read the textbooks and pay attention in class.

Anyways, just thought I would share-I haven't been in here for awhile so I will be talking to you later; hopefully tonight.

Good morning, everyone! Kind of slept in this morning. Mutt is still asleep.
Breakfast this morning: turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, toast,
biscuits, gravy, and for who like them, have some Yoplait Yogurt Smoothies,
strawberry flavor. The coffee, juice, and hot tea are ready.

Lunch today: your choice of tuna salad sandwiches, burgers, fries, hot
dogs, and tuna casserole.

Yeah, that was sad news- my eldest sister and her family live in Altoona, just south of Chippewa Falls, and her husband runs a plumbing and heating business there. I'm sure they must've known some of the victims. Haven't talked to her yet, though.
