There is a traffic circle in Georgetown, De. I have fond memories of driving in circles, circles, and cirlces around it! Man, I got dizzy!

....Driving around them and driving on the left side of the road...{in UK}, which I did years ago and then to make it a bit more complicated the {test car}, had the steering wheel on the left side as we do here in the states....That took some getting use to...fast..!!

We have traffic circles in increasing numbers, especially in the 'burbs. Most are poorly designed jokes. Moron Jefferson County engineers tried to recently incorporate a railroad crossing into one until they got the riot act read to them (44th & McIntyre near the Colorado RR Museum in Golden)

Suppose to calm traffic (questionable), do create congestion and fender benders[}:)][}:)][}:)]

Evening all!

Chris, the weekend of 19-20 would be great. The band has the weekend off ( a rarity ). On Sat the 19th there is a huge railroad memorabilia auction in Cambridge. Don't know if you're into that type of thing, but if you are go to www.stenzelAuction.com for the complete listing. There's over 450 lots of items from every road line available. It's become an annual event around here. They collect all the bits and pieces of railroad stuff all year and then have one huge auction. Draws all the hardcore FRN's from all over the country. Nothing like 100 guys who "know everything" about railroading in one room trying to oneupsman each other. Actually if you just shut up and listen, you can learn quite a lot.
Sunday the 20th is wide open for a full day of chasing and shooting if it works into your schedule.
Spent our honeymoon in the cabins at White Pines. That whole area up there is beautiful. The beds were a little hard but we didn't seem to notice. [:D] The raccoons overwhelm the fire pits at dusk, looking for handouts from the people making smores and cooking hotdogs. They actually are very tame and this is obviously part of their daily forage routine, but it sure freaked the "city folks", they thought they were being attacked! You know, I might be convinced to take Monday the 21st off when traffic on rails would be a little heavier. It wouldn't take much arm twisting. [(-D]

Sarah, capture the moments while you can. At 52, I wish I had captured more instead of chasing the almighty dollar. Don't worry about the annoying parents, some day you'll wi***hey were around to annoy you.

Mutt, I am going in to vet to get my tops taken out in a couple months. Let's get together, I can chew from the bottom and you can chew from the top. We could enter a corn on the cob eating contest as a two man team. Take care of him CW.

Well, lets see I didn't do much today I just watched tv and got on the computer all day. I figured since I tired myself out with driving and doing some "welcome home" chores aroud the house, I might as well take the day to not drive and spend some quality time with the remote and keyboard. I think tomorrow I will have to resume doing chores though.

RIRR80, I figure that I'd chapture the moments that I have now, because once I do get my long awaited job with a railroad I really won't have time to do anything. Sometimes being young isn't all that great because you still have to listen to the Assocation of Annoying Parents (AAP) as I call it, or them. lol

I got a good laugh out of the Denver driving guide, Thanks MC. I used to spend far too much time complaining about bad drivers. Now that I spend a lot of time in Mexico I rarely complain about American drivers. They are the worst down there.

Well, no lightning here at 5:00 this morning. Kind of actually enjoyed that. Sort of a neat way to wake up in the morning.

Carl, and RIRR80, got my tickets on Amtrak for the next trip. Will be arriving in Naperville around 1:30 on November 17th, and departing at 2:30 on November 28th. Would love to catch up with you guys. RIRR80, I'll be staying at the cabins at White Pines State Park on the weekend of the 18th-20th. Would love to meet up with you around then if your available. Carl, let me know what works for you the rest of the time I'm home.

Mutt, have fun at the dentist. I really dislike dental visits. Oddly enough, I usually avoid the Novocaine and deal with a few seconds of sharp pain rather than a few seconds of a little less sharp pain and hours of numbness. There's really no good options there. Maybe thats why I dislike it.

As for Boston...I decided long ago that if I ever travel to one of those old eastern cities like Boston, Philly (sorry Sarah) or the like, I'll be sure and let someone else do the driving. I've heard some really nasty horror stories about driving in places like that. No sir, that's when I'll become a passenger and let someone else take care of traffic!

Good Thursday morning, everyone!! Well, let's see here: the Mutt is still
sleeping, and I'm working on cup # 1 of coffee. Guess we'll be leaving here
about 12 something, to get him to his dentist's appointment. So, after the
usual breakfast menu of turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled
eggs, juice, coffee, and milk, lunch today will be: the following sandwiches,
already fixed and in the cooler for everyone: tuna, ham, roast beef, turkey,
and bologna. And there are plenty of the individual size bags of chips to go

Even better would be to watch them trying to handle the miles of mid-summer traffic trying to get over the Bourne or Sagamore bridges, and around the rotaries to get on to Cape Cod... which, for it's size has more traffic circles than enywhere else in the state... seven, if I'm not mistaken... and some of the rudest drivers I've ever had the misfortune of sharing the road with, or being hit by...LOL.

Sorry I missed your post, Jay--we were out the door by then, en route to a half-day of shopping and having lunch with daughter and granddaughter. (By the way, it was Elmhurst, not Wheaton.)

Brian, I think it won't matter much which side of the train you sit on. Going into Chicago the station buildings are on the south side of the tracks, as is most of the yard in Cicero. However, since you'll most likely be on the south track, opposing traffic will be outside the north windows. Don't know how you'll get good pictures while you're moving, anyway.

Good eveing everyone how are all doin tonight fine and dandy I hope well only two more days until the weekend yeah but anywho I guess the winter weather must be really comin because the temps really dropped today from 68 at 4:30 this morning to 52 at 5:30 and some real strong winds to and I had my meeting toady at work for the bus starting crew this year and I really hope we get alot of cold days so we can start for most of the winter but anywho.
