My favorite chocolate candy is the M&Ms with almonds. I've run the Elmhurst White Hen out of them on several occasions.

Kit-Kats are good, though--and nothing wrong with dumping a handful of chocolate chips into that oatmeal cookie dough!

Mookie and Sarah (and anyone else interested in chocolate), there is plenty
of chocolate around here. I make sure to I keep plenty of chocolate here in the
Diner/Coffee Shop. There's Snickers, Kit Kats, Three Muskateers, Milky Ways,
Peanut Butter Cups, Hershey Bars, Hershey Almond Bars, York Peppermints,
Tootsie Rolls, etc. are always kept on hand.

Supper tonight: country fried steak w/biscuits & gravy, fried taters (and yes, Joe,
plenty of fries for Matt always available), green beans, corn, and lima beans.
There will also be fried chicken livers (no, I did NOT do away with Mudchicken:
as far as I know, he's still very much alive and well!!)

Also baking oatmeal cookies, so I think we're well covered in the dessert
department.

Sarah - "kit kat" - is it kitty food?

I adore chocolate (a given) and rice krispies inside. And.....tootsie rolls!

Mookie I agree with you 110 percent!! I think CW really and I mean really needs to roll out some chocolate candy!! I need some of that. One warrning though, if Kit Kats are going out I will most likely end up diving into the bowl and eating a great deal of those, Kit Kats.

Carl, your right what many apples (and I love apples) I don't eat I surely do make up for it when apple citer is around. Oh and by the way, that gallon of apple citer I had left over. It's gone now, so I drank it in less than 24 hours. I need to get some more.

Well, it was my first day back at school, ................the start of a new semester......oh great more homework and projects to do. It was also very windy here in PA, man I wonder how that happened over night. lol

BC - we had the nation's low last nite at Broken Bow NE - 18 degrees.

I really would rather have us known for something else - like the best chocolate cake or the nation's nicest place to live.....Well, maybe it is up there - it's in the sandhills area....

Anyway - had to use a lot of "pawsitive" reinforcement on those mice - and I still haven't figured out the problem. Maybe needs more decorations? Maybe CW needs to put out more candy - that's it....chocolate candy!

Arthur says we got below freezing a couple of days ago (the white field across the street corroborated him).

Arthur?

Arthur Mometer, of course.

Mook, was putting little wingy-thingies on the mice something like putting frosting on the cake for you? I'm surprised they held still for that.

Think I know what's wrong, but I'm not sure--my new year began a week or so ago.

Mookie, loving what you've done decorating in here, so far. I'm also
trying to figure out what is missing. (Other than our beloved owner).

Breakfast this morning is sure to warm your innards this morning:
nice, hot oatmeal w/toast, also have some cream of wheat, along with
the standard turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and biscuits &
gravy.

Lunch today: vegetable beef soup with sandwiches: pb&j, tuna, grilled
cheese, burger, hot dog, etc

mmmm peace and quiet....

Must decorate for Halloween.....let's see, got picture of witch (her name will remain a secret!), "punkins", jack-o-what's his name, bats - ack - they are real, (eatin' the left over popcorn) (took mice and put little wingies on them) and a big banner that will proclaim the holiday. "HAPPY NEW YEAR!"

Well, looks pretty good - there's something here that just doesn't seem to be right, but I can't put a paw on it.

Gotta take a @ and maybe it will come to me.....

I know from experience that warm popcorn and cold cider makes for a nice comfort-food session. I'm in!

Sarah, it sounds like even if you don't eat too many apples, you're drinking them down! Good luck with school tomorrow.

(My own goal: eat enough apples to keep everyone in the medical center away!)

Well, the spaghetti, garlic toast and salad really hit the spot tonight. Hope
everyone in the diner enjoyed supper tonight.

And if anyone is interested, I'm in the process of popping a huge pot of
popcorn for the evening. So get yourself any of the following to drink with
your popcorn: soda, coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate and belly up to the
counter, table or booth. (But if anyone drops any popcorn on the floor,
or throws any popcorn, you get to clean it up yourselves. ) I don't think
any of us wants an unhappy Mookie in here in the morning. So let's all
keep it clean in here tonight, PLEASE and THANK YOU!!

Man..... all this talk of Apple Citer makes me want MORE!!! and I only have 1 gal left. That won't last me more than one day and a half. I want some MORE, but I don't feel like taking a drive to Bucks County to get some, maybe I'll just take the train on holloween with my costume on and get some. Yes that sounds good. It's a tradition of mine to ride the train (Septa) with my costume on every year, it's fun! I get so many comments, I've also sacred some people too.

Larry, if you would could you send some of that Burrville Apple Citer from NY, that is one state in which I have not tasted their apple citer. Plus the more the merrier.

CW spagetti sounds great!! I think I'll take some and this time I don't have to ask for a side of garlic bread. lol.

It is still raining Niagra Falls here in PA, we're suposed to be in a flood waring until tomorrow, but I didn't see any flooding. I think we got giped. We did have quite a few accidents on the roads today, though. Well, I'm glad it's clearing up because I have to go back to school tomorrow :( I don't feel like going back but, I only have two more semesters then it's degree time!! So, I guess I have to go back.

Made enough spaghetti and meat sauce, so we'll have sghetti and garlic
toast for supper, tonight, also.

About the only thing good at Produce this
morning, was potatoes, apples, bananas, and garden salad mix. Also
had eggplant & summer squash. You all enjoy your spaghetti tonight:
know Mutt and I will enjoy it.

[:O] Yeek! And my budget for the gas bill on 810 sq feet of living space - $72 a month - unless I take my winter coat off when sitting in the living room.

Would be cheaper to move to the garage and sit in Millie - couldn't be much colder and at least we aren't spending any money!

...Copcar.....That then being the Cheyenne station I most likely have passed right through there on those visible tracks over 50 years ago heading out over the Pacific to do a job for Uncle Sam...I remember I was in a vestibule as we were coming into Cheyenne and the upper half of the door was open and I could smell new mowed hay....early evening and it smelled so good.....
On the lens, I believe you have nailed it just what it is...as I remember the f4L part of it and believe he said he paid in the range of 750 for it....Wow, Tamron and the 11 - 18mm....That would be wild. I have a Tamron 28 - 200 on my Cannon EOS film camera and really enjoy having one lens that generally covers almost anything that I do.....Just wish I would have waited a few more years and put that money on the Rebel digital by Canon....Can't win 'em all. That 11mm must be a wild lens to use....I was really impressed with that 17 how much I could see and being so close to it and I did not see distortion on straight lines.

Brian, on your next trip, you should head out this way. We can head up and climb Long's Peak. When I did that one in 2002, I lost about 12 pounds in one day. It's only 17 miles round trip, and only about a mile of elevation gain! Oh yeah...1 in the Morning is a good time to start to avoid afternoon storms! [:D]

God, how I would love to be able to do that- never climbed a mountain in my life, unless you count the highest point in Minnesota, which is a hill up in the BWCA northwest of Grand Marais.[:D] If I ever get into good enough shape to even consider it, you'll be hearing from me.

Around here, the cider doesn't last long enough to develop a "bite"!

However, I was reminded by Tree of the one time we had some interesting cider. A coworker of mine (now moved on) had some apple trees in his yard, and was able to take his apples to a nearby mill to have cider made, which he shared with us. I'm sure it was pure and all that, but I had never realized the true meaning of "screaming s**ts" until shortly thereafter!

(Notwithstanding that, we later toured the same cider mill, and had some really good stuff, freshly pressed.)

Modelcar,

That's actually the station up in Cheyenne. Another older shot...but it was time to change the signature picture. I like the shot, but at the same time, I should have dialed in a little more exposure. The "spire" on the station blends into the dark sky too much, and would've like to seen a little more pop on the 70 Aces.

The lens your friend got is probably the 17-40mm f4L, a lens I almost got. In the end, I found a used 16-35mm f2.8L for the same price, and went with it. The 17-40 is a little sharper on the wide end, but I like having the extra speed of the f2.8 lens. Both of them are somewhat disappointing on the 1.6x Crop bodies, like my D60(16mm is equiv of 25.6mm, and 17mm is equiv of 27.2mm), but they are a lot of fun on a film camera, or a full frame digital. They're both excellent lenses, though. Great color, decently sharp, and fairly resistant to flare (though the 17-40 does better here, too).

I'm waiting to see if I'm going to grab a used 1Ds here. If I do, I'll keep the 16-35 as my wide lens (though I've heard the high resolution of that body tortures the 16-35). If I stick with Cropped bodies, I think I'm going to get one of the dedicated ultrawides like the Tamron 11-18mm or, if I get an EFs compatible body, the 10-22mm EFs lens. I miss being able to force some insane perspectives with the ultrawide lens. I guess I could get a Sigma 12-24mm...those work on full fram bodies! Can you imagine 12mm full frame? Yikes!
