Mudchicken, I've just made some more hot chocolate, and I've also got some
nice, hot cider ready, also. So drink up, to your heart's content. Maybe
that'll warm you and your feathers up!!

Just got in from the field, CopCarSS needs to "get thee out of Dodge" a bit quicker. Got any hot cider in here? (Cat finished off the hot chocolate again, I see!)...

At 3 Pm we were surveying high on a hillside rock quarry high above Morrison, CO west of Denver with blue skies. At 4 pm, went from zero to awful on the misery scale. Temperature drops 30 degrees, wind goes from calm to 60 MPH (chinooks), cornsnow blowing sideways (ouch!) and blue light from lightning bolts in the low boiling clouds (with fog drifting up from the reservoir below, warmer than the outside air and dust boiling off the sandpiles). Time to get off the hill, quickly......Winter has returned to Denver.

Supper is now ready. That beef stew is sure going to taste very good and warm us
up after the rain we've had all afternoon. Even have a chance for some nasty stuff
later on tonight, after about 10 p.m., I believe, is what I heard.

Well, I've got the first batch of beef stew and cornbread ready for those of you
who will be going home to a computerless house, so you can take your supper
with you (Mookie, don't forget to pick up yours and Driver's on your way home).

And the second batch of beef stew w/cornbread should be ready for consumption
about 5:30, 6:00.

Now that I finished cleaning up all the crew packs and cat nip cans, I need some coffee, it's 12:49 here at school and I'm still barely awake, I fell asleep on the couch, got up to go to bed...and then I didn't sleep...way to go Zach...

I think the next party will be held at 25,000 posts, that is, IF the Diner and we are all still here. I just wanted to say "thanks" to all of you. As you can see, I've been a member of this site for a few years. I originally signed up so I could access the newswire and have enjoyed it. Belated Yippee from this corner of the diner. And to show what a good citizen/cat I am - I watched a rerun of Cops on Sat night and was more interested in the BNSF 4 pack running behind the parties involved than I was in the arrest! Wi***hey would have filmed that instead of the meth-head female!

Good morning, one and all!! Man, that was a terrific celebration in here yesterday!
Now, though, it's back to the ole grind stone, until next week, when we'll all be
getting ready for the big Turkey Day (Thanksgiving, of course).

Breakfast this morning: after all we had yesterday in here, today's breakfast will
be: cantaloupe and watermelon slices. Eat all you want of it, have plenty on hand.

Lunch: leftovers from the party yesterday. And that includes plenty of the cakes.

Supper: beef stew w/cornbread.

Was in here when we tripped 10,000, but had to run to get supplies for this week. Anyway, great party, decided to swing by and grab another batch of party food.

Learned on Saturday night that Gorgonzola (I think that's spelled right) cheese is an aquired taste, but it was a very interesting flavor on top of the chicken I had for dinner at Pizzeria Uno, my second favorite restaurant behind the Depot Diner.

Sadly, Bucky lost this weekend at Barry Alverez's last home game of his career, but I hear the Packers won, which is a surprise, I thought the Falcons were a good team.

I left some nice soft B.B. King and John Lee Hooker music playing in the Jukebox, nothing like the soft baselines of these artists to get one relaxed.

Been workin' on The Rock upstairs all week at night, so haven't been in Diner much. Been hiding under benchwork soldering feeder lines to buss wires. Oh my aching back!
But what a difference! Cost of seeing your favorite SW switcher from your childhood poke around in the "yard" at a scale 10 mph without sputtering and stalling: priceless!

Wow - visited Saturday morning and it was 12 to go. Now we're over in spades. Glad to have been a part of this long-running get-together, and hope I'm in it for a long time to come. Thanks, Jim for starting us on the voyage!

Okay now, folks: we can't let this celebration die down. Get your toes tapping

this party!! And don't worry that Mookie will miss out on any of the food: I've

GOOD afternoon everyone and yes congraulations on hitting 10,000 posts today maybe I'll be in a little bit later for some cake boy today was not the day for yard work with that wind blowing up towards 50 mph and now it has gotten even colder outside last I checked it was 44 degrees and it's only going to get colder I think it going down to about 27 or even lower but who knows I think we skipped fall and went right into. As we celebrate this special occasion (10,000 posts) let me plead for your support of Amtrak. Our current administration is doing everything possible to kill it. We MUST stop this dastardly attack. HOW? Call, email, or write your congressional people NOW, and voice your concern over this administration's actions, and voice your support of Amtrak. Please do it as soon as possible and let the government know you support Amtrak. It is time to rebuild Amtrak not kill it. This administration chooses to fund trains in Iraq and not in America. PLEASE support Amtrak now while we CAN. It is NOW or NEVER for Amtrak.

Congratulations to everyone, past and present, who's contributed to this entertaining and informative thread. I daresay I've gotten to know quite a few people better because of it. And some of the food suggestions have led to a need to exercise!

(The steak with the trimmings was great! I had to sample all of the cakes, though--couldn't reject any of them.)

In other news, I have been instructed to drive to work again today, due to strong winds. Probably a good idea, though I'm very frustrated, with only about 80 miles to go to reach my bicycling goal. And this would have been the best piece of tail(wind) I'd have had since my birthday!
