Good Saturday morning, everyone!! And Jim, welcome to the Depot Diner and
Coffee Shop!! We're always glad to welcome new patrons/customers. You can
get your fill of good "down home" cooking, and in here, we talk about anything
and everything.

Saturday breakfast: turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, gritts (don't like
em, but I fix them for others who do), oatmeal, toast, scrambled eggs or fried
eggs: sorry, I don't do over easy eggs well. I like to know that the eggs are not
too runny.

Lunch today: actually, it's the Saturday breakfast menu, served until about 4
p.m. EST.

Everybody have a great day, and may it be a "Afternoon Delight" for you.

LOOKS LIKE THE NEXT PERSON IN THE DINER WILL BRING
THE DINER THREAD TO PAGE 500!!

Welcome, Jim!

For all of us: The fact that we're coming up on 500 pages and 10,000 posts at about the same time is no coincidence. You get 20 posts per page, multiply that by 500, and voila! ten thousand posts. The count doesn't include Jim's original grand opening, so if all performs as expected, the 10,000th post will be the first one on page 501.

People,

Allow me to introduce myself. May I get a glass of cranberry juice and a wheat bagel with Philly Cream cheese? My name is "Jim" (as if there aren't enough Jims here already ... what's one more?) I'm 37, live in upstate NY and have taken a serious liking to railroading. I've always liked watching trains, but it was about 3 years ago when I initially started gravitating towards museums, shortline excursions, then about a year later, picture taking locally out around rail yards and on the mainlines.

I'm a member at 2 other outstanding RR forums as well ('probably not proper to plug them here). I am looking forward to talking to each one of you, especially RR employees.

Thank you for your time and generous hospitality.

Evening, all.

Sorry I haven't been in lately, between work and other things around the house I just haven't had time to stop by.

I've been lucky at work lately, in that I haven't had to go over to the UPS line at all. UPS wants 1,000 trailers by the end of the year, and they have been putting in a ton of overtime lately--people I've talked to said they have been putting in 2 to 2-1/2 hours extra time every night for the past three weeks or so.

It's finally starting to feel like the middle of November around here, we got the nice windy day everyone was talking about a few days ago, no real damage, but the weather forecast is calling for another windy day on Sunday.

Getting close to 10,000 posts, huh? I'll predict we'll hit it either Sunday or Monday, at the rate we have been usually running on the weekends.

CW, thank you for the pizza, you're one of the top places on my list of good pizzas

Later, everyone.

I'll provide the popcorn- my Dad's cousin grows it up in Mankato, MN. Hanel Popcorn is the best, IMO (unbiased of course[;)]). Do a Google search for it and you should come up with a site where it can be purchased on-line!

OK, I'll shut up now and quit hogging this thread...

You want turkeys - we got plenty. Not unusual to see a flock of 15-20 virtually anywhere you go around here now. Not all so long ago they were scarce. Now we actually have turkey hunters around here. Kinda cute to see the little ones running around behind mom.

Andrew, very, very sure we can't have alcohol in the Diner!! Just grab you
some fish and fries, or some slices of pizza and a nice, cold
soft drink.

Well nothing to do tonight except work on music and study some law. This whole getting a girlfiend thing is a bit of a bother eh? Taking a long time but it is rather worth it if it works-she is hot. I'll see her tommorow but till then.................

Oh well..

Are you sure we can't have alcohol in the diner?

Jay your never too old to stay up and party all day and night!!! My grandmom who's 65 proved that last year. On another note I'm 19 and I've been doing agrressive inline skating for 5 years. I don't care how old I am I'll never give it up, I've worked too hard to acheive some of the tricks that I can do now. (However, I don't compete in too many competitions anymore). Some people still think I'll be a kid forever because of this. lol

CW I'll have a grilled chesse and some frys please if that's possible. Thanks.

Well, Jim, guess you'll just have to wait and find out what I'll be serving that
prestigious day!! But you can rest assured, that there will be two white cakes
w/white icing, and two chocolate cakes w/chocolate icing. And for those who
don't like cake (heaven forbid such a thing), there will be several kinds of pie!!

Now, everybody get yourselves in here for this fish fry, and the pizza for tonight.

Oh Chad, do you remember the DOS topic? It was axed partly because of people posting numbers, nothing else, just numbers (a combination of star chasing and stupidity on their parts, but it became contagious. [:(] [:(!] I am not saying either about you but let's not temp fate.) So let's try and keep the diner open for another round of 10,000 posts, but first, let's make this 10,000. [:)]

10,000 - 9958 = 42 [:0] [:p] [8D]

Just a little early to start the cake, but I think we need two of them. One for those of us who like white cake with white frosting. Sorry Mook and Joe, but I am not a big chocolate eating guy. I love the old fashion sugar cookies with homemade icing. Funny though, half the dough never made it to the oven. [:D] [:p] [:D] We called them, ice box cookies, because you had to put the dough in the icebox before it went into the oven. Awwwww, those were the days [^] [:)] [:p] NOW I want some homemade cookies [:(] .

I was just wondering what horseydurves (lol lol lol [;)] [;)] ) CW will come up with. I just love those little finger sandwiches, I can't eat just one though. [;)] Man I can not wait for the party. BRING ON THE FOOD. [:D] [:D] [:D]

Well, I work for my M.P.P on Mondays and Fridays. The interesting thing is that this was the door I needed to get my foot into to be a politician. My dream is coming true. I have been told that I could accompany him to Queens Park and meet cabinet ministers and maybe even the Premier of Ontario.

Good Afternoon to you all...looks like this is 45 to go. Sigh...I'll probably be out hiking or something for the grand 10,000 celebration. Be sure to save me some cake! Starting to look like I might be hoofin' it through snow again. I have yet to finish post-processing the last batch of snow pix! Yikes!

Oh well, hope you all have a great weekend, and a good 10,000 party. Have fun!

We'll be having a fish fry for supper tonight: got some cod, perch, and haddock,
and we'll have your choice of fries or potato wedges, that are just a tad bit spicy.
they're really good (especially when you make them from nice, long Idaho taters!
Got plenty of seafood sauce, tarter sauce, & ketchup to put on your fish. And if
you want to make it a fish sandwich, have white, whole wheat, and rye bread.

Also, we'll have an extra pizza night tonight for anyone who doesn't want
fish.

Dessert: more fried apple pies. Been getting a bunch of apples lately at the

Tuesday morning Produce give-away!! Have also baked quite a few apple pies,
that are stored in the freezer.

Mmmm... I'll try to get back! Missed out yesterday, the wife was hogging the computer all evening. She's working on thank-yous to all the family and friends following her mother's passing, so I didn't complain.

Which reminds me- one last thank you to all you diner patrons for your support over the last couple of weeks.

Oh, and the diet is going well- I'm down about 18 pounds now. If I can keep this up, maybe by next summer I'll be able to out-run a Class 3 train![:D]
