So far, he's enjoying his birthday: has had two phone calls, getting
birthday greetings.

Mookie, the chocolate cake SHOULD be in the fridge, unless
someone came in last night, and confiscated it. And it that happened,
that person is in deeeepp doo-doo.

The pork chop abracadbra is cooking away in the crockpot, and will be
ready about 4:30, 5:00 EST. If he had some bottom teeth, I'd fix him some
corn-on-the-cob, also.

Done!

Just getting caught up after the weekend. All this talk of liver and onions (pass, by the way) reminds me of a commercial for an Oklahoma City pizza place (don't recall which) that had a commercial where the husband was complaining about getting liver and onions all the time for supper. <Announcer>Well, that doesn't sound all that bad... <Husband>But, liver one night and onions the next?

FD had a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday - discovered we should have called it a buffet breakfast. Some people didn't show because they thought we were just serving pancakes....

Spent all the weekend evenings at the local PBS station's Art Auction, as mentioned earlier. Some really great stuff, and real bargains sometimes - there just weren't a lot of people bidding on the stuff. I picked up a couple of pieces for my son and daughter-in-law.

Also visited the CNY NHRS train show in Syracuse. Spent almost $150 (gotta have a limit there or...) and carried it all home in a 2# sack (which isn't very big). Did manage to get the N Scale version of the ALCo C424 I rode on the Adirondack, although I have some painting to do...

The storms blew through here on Sunday afternoon. First line just brought rain. Second line came through with a severe warning attached, which caused limited damage. The wind that held on through the night caused some issues, especially to the south of us. I was up at 4:30 for a power line arcing, but we just waited around for the utility people and called it a morning...

So it was a very busy weekend......

Evenin all!
I see we have two aquired tastes in the Diner. Liver and onions and third shift. I can handle third shift, but no liver and onions. Sorry CW, I love almost all the food in here, but PLEASE, PLEASE don't make L and O a standard meal or at least throw some burgers on the side for us non internal organ eaters. [(-D]
Sounds like we missed a fun sunday night. We probably need to buy Bergie some new flashlight batteries in appreciation. Sounds like he spent some time looking under all the bridges for trolls.
I'm assuming all Diners are safe after the "Auntie Em" weekend, otherwise there would be some postings. Thank God, apparently he watches over the Diners.
CW, bring on the pasquetti ( grandaughters pronounciation) Ranch on the salad, and 4 pieces of Texas toast. LOVE that toast!
Going to work on The Rock upstairs tonight. First time in over a month. Been too busy.
Probably have to spend an hour cleaning track before anything will run. That's still better than being at work, anytime! Be back in for jello later. Willy

Liver is one of those meats that I can't stand. I remember my folks/grandmother trying to fool me by telling me that we were having Swiss steak for dinner- after chewing the first bite for a couple of minutes, I swore it off for the rest of my life.

Well I guess I was deprived as a kid because I've never had liver and onions before. Trust me I've had my share of onions because, they are on my favorite foods list but, never the liver.

Cop Car, I envy your experience with the 6" of snow at Rocky Mountain National. I could use some of that because, then school will be canceled and then I can go snowboarding or ice climbing up the mountains, I could even do some winter railfaning. However, I don't want to drive in it.

The Septa strike is over here in the great Philadelphia reagon. So the city is happy yet again. I received some good news for the start of my week, I got a 97 in my Clutches test I took on Friday, so thats good. Now lets see if I can pull the same thing off on my transaxles test comming up.

Jim, as it happens, I do have some fried chicken left. Do you want it
cold, or heated and served with some mashed taters and gravy?

[:0] Oh yeah, if it wasn't 80 degrees outside (might break a record today, and probally will tomorrow too) then a nice pot of navy beans and ham with a nice (large) slice of cornbread would really be good. But since it is 80 plus outside we will have to put that pot on the back burner for another week or so. [:0] [B)] [:(]

The cleaning that Bergie did was not in the diner. He got rid of about half a dozen threads all started by the same troll. You folks really didn't miss anything. I wish he would have included a few others in his cleaning but you know, we don't always get everything we want in life. [;)]

Hey CW, got any of that fried chicken left over? That would make a good lunch since I just got bumped to 3 rd shift. [:(] I love the job I will be doing, just not crazy about the hours. But like I just said, we don't always get everthing we want in life. [;)]

Well since it is almost 3 pm I guess I will go take a nap. It sure will be hard staying awake about 3 am this coming morning. [:(] [8] [B)]

Everyone take care.

I once ordered liver at a diner and nearly puked (after years of eating it the way my mother used to fix it--before she'd give it raw to the cat!). However, I'm sure that the liver served in this Diner will be some of the best I've ever tasted!

Nonetheless, I'll opt for a BLT to go...

Speaking of "B", maybe part of the secret was that Mom always fried up some bacon with the liver and onions. I'm sure some flavors got intermingled, and it may have imparted some unusual health benefits to the bacon!

MC, do let me know more about any impending return to this neck of the woods. I have to be in the circa 1929 headquarters building Wednesday for a meeting.

Chris, please leave the snow behind when you come this way in a couple of weeks. Still looking forward to that!

...Berthoud Pass....about 11 or 12,000' ele.....That reminds me of a test drive we were on back in '67 testing a vacuum modulator valve for an automatic transmission...Had to find the elevation to check it's performance. Engine did get smaller as we wound up the heights.....

And a Tip Top of the Morning to you All!

Well my thoughts and prayers are down in Kentucky and Indiana. After storms like that, I have a hard time reconciling my love of thunderstorms and tornadoes with the wrath and grief they can unleash on humanity. Perhaps the more we take interest in the creatures, the better we can understand them, and better prepare ourselves.

Meanwhile, didn't have anything like that over the weekend here. I was up in Rocky Mountain National Park playing in 6+ inches of snow. Egads! I've forgotten how draining it is to trudge uphill through that kind of snow. Only did about 5 miles, and was getting fairly tired. I guess only getting about 4 hours of sleep the previous night probably didn't help, though. Oh well...soon enough I can break out the snowshoes, and just walk on the top of it all.

Sadly, here too the weather unleashed its wrath. We had our first Avalanche of the season. A backcountry skier got caught in a slide off of Berthoud Pass. Like November tornadoes, it's unusual to have November slides, but tragically still possible.

Well, I guess I should be about my business. Hopefully I'll have a new sig. image and a link to some winter weather shots for any of you who are crazy enough (like me!) to actually look forward to winter! Till later, hope you all have a great day!

Good morning! Looks like a great beginning of hopefully a quiet week here. The in-laws are all going back home, and I'm back to work. I'll take eggs, sausage, and hash browns, please, and throw in a couple of pancakes as well, with a large orange juice to wash it down.[dinner]

Oops! After review, eggs wasn't one of the choices, so just give me a couple more pancakes. They're in there...
