Mookie, I thought you knew what shellie beans are!! The shellies come from
the big, fat bean pods, that you have to split them open, and take out the beans.
Then you put them in with the other green beans, and cook them all together!![}:)]

Chris - when I worked in a restaurant, had a trio of brothers that came in. One was grumpy, so we ignored him, one was quiet and one was the spokesman of the group.

The talker told me that the quiet one was that way cuz when he was born, God gave him only so many words and he didn't want to use them up! Cracked me up!

Good Friday morning, all!! Know you all are very glad to see Friday come. Along
with Friday, we got down to 32 here in Louisville this morning. So. . .

Breakfast will be: oatmal, toast, sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs.

In the process of making a huge pot of beef vegetable soup for lunch. There
will also be the standard Friday fare of fish & fries, tuna salad sandwiches,
grilled cheese sandwiches, and PB&J sandwiches.

Dessert: mixed fruit or strawberry Jell-O and oatmeal-raisin cookies.

Not only was I not downwind, I was in the next county.

My wife informs me that evergreens will produce more pine cones during a dry season--sort of a survival instinct. I don't remember Louisville having a drought this past summer like we did, but can vouch for the fact that our cedar tree had more little blue berries than I've ever seen on it before.

Chris, glad to see you back in here. Don't stay away so long; maybe you can help
us find some who seem to have wondered off: like Kevin the RR man in Quebec,
for example.

Sorry I haven't been around the Diner too much. Guess I'm too busy stirring up trouble elsewhere. I think it's a quote from The Chosen by Chaim Potok, if I remember correctly: "If a word is worth a dollar, then silence is worth two." That might actually be from the Torah, and quoted in The Chosen. Been too long since I read that book, though it was one of my favorites in high school. Whatever the case, maybe I should take it to heart a bit.

Well, I must be on my merry way. Hope you all have a great evening. And an early thank you to all of our veterans. Your sacrifice, and the ultimate sacrifice of those who did not make it are valued very dearly by this proud American. Thank You!

Modelcar, you want leaves? I'll share some of mine! My 0.1 acre lot with two trees produces 40 bags worth. And it just rained yesterday and today so they're nice and wet and heavy.

Locomutt...Yes, the pine cones are very plentyful this year...I have several evergreens at the back of my lot right where it connected to fairway...and I'm amazed at the amount of pine cones laying around there this year....They don't seem to be very hard and solid so it doesn't seem to do any damage to mower....
My mulcher mower did a pretty good job for me yesterday and we'll make some more passes over the area again when we find enough leaves to work on...{Won't be difficult to do}....Already have some down and on the yard since yesterday.
Full sunshine and clear skies today....and pretty nice for early November.

Tree! I made this one time! Didn't have a grinder, so used a hand grater on every one of those itty bitty cranberries. Aside from a little knuckle, it was delicious!

Boy - one corner to the other! That's a pretty dramatic Thanksgiving!

It's simple - bag of cranberries, a navel orange, an apple, and a cup of sugar. Run the fruit through a grinder or food processor, then add the sugar. Some folks like some walnuts in it, too. Best if prepared a day or two before serving, so it can mull through really well.

Salmon sounds good here, too.

My current bike is a Diamondback Parkway. It seems to have some premature rust in the crank area of the frame, but has held up for a good 15,000 miles or more (annual maintenance alternates between tuneups and overhauls). I don't jump curbs or anything like that, but have been known to hit some unavoidable pieces of ballast and such around the yard.

Jay, I wish I were making your trip.

And yes, Brian, Ford's reputation for clumsiness was totally undeserved. With the possible exception of TR, he was the most physically fit and athletic president we ever had.

Good morning. Windy yesterday, calm and somewhat cooler temperatures today. All the trees in our yard have completed their shedding and today is the final fall clean-up. Just in time. I am off to DC on the Capital Limited tomorrow. Won't be there long enough to get that place straightened out, but I am hoping that the trip won't be my last by train.

Keep a light in the window, I'll be back early next week.

...A brisk windy day {yesterday}, here in Muncie but no problems...Actually a pretty nice day and then a bit cooler late afternoon. Did mowing and mulching leaves...a big problem with western neighbor's trees.....Mine are all evergreens. Sun shining brightly here this morning but only in high 40's for today. Still so far...a great November. Wind gusts yesterday up to 40ish Mph....

Good morning, everyone! Wow, what a night we had. I was on the computer,
around 10:30, and low and behold, our power goes out!! Mutt and I were in
the dark for about 1 1/2 hours. Don't know what happened, but all along our
street, all lights were out, even the traffic lights.

Joe, thank you for getting the coffee and juice ready this morning. Very glad
to hear, Joe, that the sapling didn't fall on your house!

Breakfast: turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, oatmeal,
toast.

As soon as I get my eyes really open, I'll decide on the lunch menu for today.
Just now working on my first cup of coffee.

HI everyone how are we all doin tonight fine and dandy. I hope well it got really cold here today the temps went from 60 down to 45 and really high winds but anywho I guess fall/winter has finally arrived which is kinda cool because now we can get ready for the first start up of the season yea but oh well hope everyone has a good night and I will be talkin to you all later.
