BRRRRRR!!!! The walk into work from the parking lot was BRUTAL this morning. My thermometer said 24 degrees, but it feels more like ZERO with this nasty wind. Didn't get much more snow during the night, but with the temp where it is we still have 1/2 an inch on the ground from yesterday.

Stay warm, everybody!

Sarah - Duck!

Sunny, warm, and windy here this morning, but the radar shows more rain lurking just offshore over Lake Ontario. Forecast high is supposed to approach 70, but dump down to 50 when the cold front passes.

Wouldn't mind a few more rumbles of thunder this year, but we can do without all the really nasty stuff that's been happening west of us.

I like fruit - especially melon. The problem is that in a household of one I often tire of this edition of the fruit before I run out of it... Quiche sounds good, though. Think I'll mix up some of the ham, bacon, and cheese.

CW - glad to hear you are ok. I was watching the weather map and looks like everyone east of us got some kind of a thumping. Last I looked, Modelcar was in for a big storm.

Had frozen locks to deal with this morning. Ah yes - winter! But at least it isn't icy - yet!

I made up some different quiches last nite, so brought in some - bacon, ham, all cheese, kibble and a veggie one for our veggie lovers. We can serve them with a side of mixed fruit - most men never eat enough fruit or veggies - driver included. And a bottle of vitamins - everyone take one!

Good Wednesday morning, all! Well, looks like we made it through all the messy
weather yesterday afternoon, and last night. We were definitely blessed. Things
could have been much, much worse. Brian, glad you didn't get too much of the
snow. Our current temp this morning is 43. Say it'll be 42 at noontime, then drop
to around 37 around 5 p.m., I believe is what I heard on the news this morning.

Breakfast: nice hot oatmeal w/toast, turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits w/sausage
gravy, fried taters, hash brown, scrambled eggs, and homemade applesauce.

Lunch: your choice of burgers & fries, tuna melt casserole.

Supper tonight: chicken and dumplings.

Everyone have a good day, and stay warm and dry (if the rain we had last
night is coming your way today).

If it makes you feel any better, it was raining and cold when I stepped off the train Sunday night. Wouldn't want you to feel left out of the weather scene.[:)][:)]

Hey, did the diner survive that latest round of storms? The radar over the last couple of hours sure looked colorful down there...

The snow quit here, only got about 1/2 an inch. Which is just fine with me, winter can wait another month.

Joe, thanks again for taking care of supper. Think I'll have a bowl of the
vegetable soup. Then, maybe later on tonight, I'll take a small bowl of
the bean soup.

I watched the noon news today, it was 75 here in Central Arkansas and 61 in Dallas. About 2 pm a cold front came through. The temp is now about 55 here and 60 in Dallas. Oklahoma City is reporting well, can't get aol weather/weather channel to work right now, but I think it was in the 40s there.

Tonight's lows in the lower 30, with tomorrow's low in the upper 20s. And just last week we were setting record highs. It is time for mother nature to put down that bottle she has been drinking and start sobering up. It would be nice to have some fall between the air conditioning and heat time.

Well this forum missed last night trolling in two of the other forums. My favorite topic that the troll started was, "Boxers or Briefs". lol [:D] [:D] [:D] I just could not decide so I didn't vote in his poll. [;)] [8D] [:D] You think I should start it back up? [8] [:0] [B)] [}:)] [:p] [;)] Of course his topic, "Do Classic Trains Suck" (in the Classic Trains forum) went over like a lead balloon. Wonder why? [;)] After all was said and done I believe that the person who opened the account was one person and the troller from last night was possibly a little brother. The account was open about the 25 of October with one geniune post then last night tons of nonsense. I really believe it was two seperate people. However his story changed several times so it is hard to know the truth. Anyway Bergie cleaned house and all is back to normal now.

Well I got about 3 hours of sleep this morning and woke up in time for the news at noon. That is most likely all the sleep I will get before going to work tonight at 10 pm.

Now time to do some things around the house. Where is that maid anyway? (I still can't find the automatic self house cleaning button either, Mookie [;)] )

I tried to post that earlier and my computer went out on strike. [:(!] [:(!] [:(!]
Well I guess better late than never.

It's already here--I'm still hoping for some moderation (or at least some drying out) by next week. Unfortunately, this weather, temperature-wise, is very seasonable. We've just been spoiled.

Chris, I'm afraid the weather is preceding you on your trip this time.....

Started raining here a couple hours ago, supposed to change over to snow later tonight, get about 1 to 2 inches of the stuff, and the winds are going to pick up to about 45-50 mph. Should be an interesting ride home from work at 2am tonite. I'd be surprised if I see a snowplow or salt truck out tonight.

Ah, yes. You gotta love winter[:-^][swg]

Joe, thanks for getting the stuff for bean and vegetable soup. That really
sounds good.

Our wind right now is about 60mph. Think it might be gusting more than
that at times. Have heard that a couple of counties in our area have
postponed events/closed schools early, preparing for the stuff that's
heading this way.

Hopefully, we won't be losing power or anything, so we can keep everybody
posted on what's happening around here.

Got some more apples at Produce this morning. Looks like I'm going to
be baking a lot of apple pies, and then freezing them. Will also have some
cooked apples to go with the soups tonight.

And tip top of the morning to you all...

Changed the profile signature. Another old shot from the Yellowstone/Tetons trip of 2004. I do have some new stuff, just haven't had any time for post-processing work. Perhaps on this trip I'll have some play time.

Man alive, MC wasn't just kidding about the weather. Certainly one of those days when I was awfully glad that I wasn't driving west of town. Watched the thermometer in the truck drop 14 degrees in about 5 minutes! I was so lucky, too. Had a meeting down in the Tech Center at 4:00 PM (who schedules meetings at 4?!?!?!?). Had the distinct pleasure of driving I-25 from Dry Creek to the Mousetrap during rush hour with snow coming down at a good clip, and blown around by some fair to meddlin' winds. I cannot tell you how elated I was.

To all the midwesterners...I will do my best not to bring this with me when I depart tomorrow, but can't guarantee. I have a bad habit of taking things east with me when I go home.

Oh well, hope you all have a great day!

Alas, winter is threatening here as well. Counties north and east have a winter weather advisory, but it's just raining here. LM and CW may be under the gun this morning - weather gurus were highlighting that general area for more of this unseasonable severe weather we've been getting lately.

@ sounds good, but management frowns....

I see in the news wire that my visit to Tacoma has been preceded by the arrival of Reading 2100. Maybe I'll get to spot her in my travels.

A donut and sweet dreams of this coming Sunday! I will be sitting across from a plate of clean rice and wet chicken! (This is a little different from dirty rice and chicken)

I am so excited!

It rained during the night and now is snowing. It is a wet snow that melts when it hits the ground - except on the cold cars.

Time for my [soapbox] - where was this moisture when we had nice warm days and could have used it to water parched lawns!

Ok - small [soapbox]

Ironhorse, good luck on your travels, and maybe you'll be able to drop by maybe
once or twice before spring. But if not, take care of yourself.

It is POURING RAIN here this morning!! Maybe I'll be lucky, and no one will
come out in this downpour for Produce this morning. (Yeah, right: in my dreams!!)
Some parts of our local area have already gotten six inches of rain overnight. Several
streets, and one interstate have lanes closed due to flood waters. Looks like it's
going to be a very bad day.

Breakfast this morning: since I've got Produce duty this morning, breakfast is
something really, really simple: doughnuts: chocolate coved, chocolate, yeast,
cake, cream filled, custard filled, fruit filled. Whatever you prefer in doughnuts,
I believe I have them this morning.

Everyone take care, try to stay as warm and dry as possible, and I'll see you all
later.

My 1st and only visit to the Coffee Shop.

Well Jim wanted me to stop by the Diner here before I "leave town" again. Breakfast 24hrs/day? I'll have waffles and 2 eggs sunny side up. I'll need a pound of coffee and a pound of sugar before I hit the trail.

Jukebox could stand a little music. All the songs are a nickel right?

Here's an appropriate song:

"Sittin' in an all nite cafe
At a booth back in the corner
Makin' paper wads from napkins
Throwin' toothpicks on the floor
I got a problem I can't solve
So I'm gonna sit here til I figure out
The reason why my baby
Dudn't love me anymore
Well it can't be another woman
Cause I've never looked at anyone
As long as I've been knowin her
And that's a long long time
I've had so many cups of coffee
Bethcha that I get an ulcer
Sittin' in this all nite cafe
With my baby on my mind"
-Warner Mack

And I can't leave before playin at least one Johnny Cash song:
"I hear the train a comin'
It's rollin round the bend
And I ain't seen the sunshine since
I don't know when
I'm stuck in Folsom Prison
And time keeps draggin' on
And that tain keeps a rollin'
On down to San Antone..."

See you all next spring...

We had some snow here this afternoon- enough to coat parked cars with a nice thin white coating. Ground's too warm for it to accumulate there, though. Tomorrow night might be a different story. Winter Storm Watch northwest of here.
