Good Saturday morning, all. Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day
today. Saturday brunch is ready: we've got: turkey bacon, scrambled
eggs, sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy, grits, cream of wheat,
toast, several different kinds of jelly, jam, preserves, and marmalade.

Everyone have a great day, and stay safe in your travels today.
And be back here by about 6:30 EST for the Saturday night pizza fest.

I will be up late and early, so I need a tall cup of expresso, and "pronto por favor"! Something about prostrating is disturbing yet sticks on the first page. I can't take it! But the problem is much more than that. This special day will require breakfast before bed.

That's o.k., Joe: I'd never fry any goldfish. They're too cute
to look at, and watch them swimming.

Time to post the supper menu for tonight: have fried and baked more
fish for supper. Also have hushpuppies, and fries, and more cole slaw.

Still have plenty of oatmeal cookies left for supper, and there's an oatmeal
crisp for dessert also.

Larry, you've got me there. Unless the Ohio River counts.

Okay, how about a "Quote of the Day" from our newspaper this
morning. It's from comedian Dave Attell:

Just once, I would like to read in the paper: 'Drunk
driver hits other drunk driver as pedophile dies of shock',"

Guess that's about it for quotes today. Looks like the perch and cod
are disappearing fast. Guess I'd better get some more going.

OK, you're crazy. But my project this weekend is dig out and mount up my studded tires on the spare wheels for my Diamondback commuter bike (Frankenbike to me and my cohorts - I built it up with random parts I had lying around or got on closeout deals). I'm ready for anything Winter throws at me.

Thought it was a good time to post today's lunch specials:

fish sandwiches or fish w/out the bread, fries, jumbo shrimp, cole
slaw, and for dessert: oatmeal cookies right out of the oven. Yep,
I've been baking this morning (decided to bake, and warm up the
kitchen!).

Larry, I just hope that snow doesn't make it's way down here. I'm
definitely NOT ready for snow. Not looking forward at all to
getting the snow shovel out. Besides our steps, and sidewalk,
we also shovel the main sidewalk in front of our house, our
neighbor's steps and walk across the street, and her sister-in-law,
who lives two doors (well, gravel parking lot) up from us. And some-
times, we'll shovel all the way down to the corner, and maybe up to
the other corner, as well.

And Carl, have you seen or heard from CopCarSS yet?

Headed out for a dinner meeting after work last night - had to take a detour (that's what I get for going the back way in the first place) - couldn't get over one of the hills due to the very slippery conditions. After the meeting I went home - nary a snowflake in sight there.

First snow of the season is alway a joy - this one was just that much worse due to it being so wet. And it was lake effect. Pretty much confined to an east-west line about 10 miles wide.

Had some oatmeal at the house this morning, so cholestoral is under control. Stock me up with some of that bacon and sausage, and a healthy (?) dose of scrambled eggs...

Good Friday morning, everyone! Gee, Mookie, sure hope "nameless" is all right!!

Breakfast this morning: brought in some doughnuts. Have plenty of coffee going,
made juice, hot chocolate. Also have some bacon & sausage fried up, and have
made some biscuits and gravy. And there's hash browns or fried taters to go
with them. So have your pick of the breakfast menu specials today.

Wow - pretty empty in here! Heard through the grapevine that a certain "he shall remain nameless" got his feathers ruffled when he tangled with some snow in a certain part of a state west of us....(Is that vague enough?) Seems wings and talons don't always help when driving!

Supper for tonight is ready; along with leftover chicken & dumplings, we'll have
lasagna w/garlic bread sticks (thought I'd change from Garlic Texas Toast to-
night), and garden salad. And for Carl, and anyone else who wants it, I have
some Ceasar salad also. DESSERT: cherry pie and cherry cobbler is
on the menu for tonight.

Mookie, you know I've always got some bacon made up around
here, so it's very easy to add it to your grilled cheese sammich; and
there's always cold chocolate milk around: cold chocolate milk is
all I'll drink, except for buttermilk.

Not really.... But our virtual selves must outweigh our real selves, with all the food we seem to consume here in the Diner.

We drove past a car that had apparently just been rescued from a position well beyond the shoulder of the tollway.

I didn't think that much precipitation had fallen, but I guess the wind freeze-dried whatever had turned to liquid on the roadways. Clear and dry this morning, though!

Arthur says 23 at the moment. Biked to the store, but wouldn't do anything but drive to work today. If we have dry days over the weekend, I can probably get some of the last 70-75 miles I need.
