Well, I already know that I'll have at least two patrons here in the Diner tomorrow.
At least I'm not doing all this cooking for nothing!!

Hope everyone will enjoy the lunch that's on tap for today, and in a couple of
hours, I'll be posting tonight's supper menu. Right now, though, it's back to
the ole grindstone in the kitchen!!

Trainnutz, my ride home from work is a little over eight miles. (The ride to work runs around 11 miles, but that's because it's during the day, and I take the "scenic route" that brings me trackside in a couple of places!).

Looks like Sunday or Monday will be the next good day for biking.

Woke up to snow on the ground this morning, but it's fast disappearing.

Some of this stuff should have gotten to us yesterday, according to all of the forecasts, but we had an amazingly clear sky all day. I'll be as anxious to see some of the shots Chris got as the folks who weren't along.

The only place I'll be going for Thanksgiving is to work (I should be thankful for another train-watching opportunity and for double-time-and-a-half, I guess).

Today, however, we're doing a little shopping and granddaughter-visiting. Then I have to start logging some of yesterday's marvelous sightings, as well as those from the rest of the preceding week.

I am here! Late, but here! Had breakfast with Driver - a thrill, believe me! He's off today and I am only here long enough to paw the $ and then I am gone - train watching. Will be in low 60's before cold front tomorrow - so you can bet I will be in the sun watching my favorite sport!

CW - got receipe - will take it home and let Driver try it out. Since it is his day off, he will be doing the laundry until I get off, squiring me around town and then cooking supper. He's glad he doesn't get a day off too often!

So to all my friends, acquaintances and certain relatives - have a safe holiday, a great Thanksgiving and be very careful - we will take attendance when you get back!

Good Wednesday morning everyone!! For breakfast today, we'll have
oatmeal and toast, biscuits and sausage, and cereal. Have to get
ready and start cooking the side dishes for tomorrow.

Mookie, did you get the recipe I emailed you last night? Hope it got
through to you.

Lunch today will be: ham & cheese sandwiches or tuna salad sand-
wiches w/potato chips.

Not sure about supper menu yet.

Would like to thank Carl and Pat for a lovely day out and about in Northern, IL. Certainly an interesting day! Would post some pix, but I managed to forget to bring the driver for the D60, and Photochop. Will be sure to post some stuff when I get home next week. Thanks again for a lovely day Carl and Pat!

Not sure how much I'll be around today and tomorrow, so if I don't see you, I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving.

The only reason we weren't shot for posterity by the Webcam is that no trains were harmed (or obscured) to make those photos.

There were plenty of freights on the main line while we were on the road to and from Rochelle. We were frustrated by a few missed photo opportunities, but I engaged in the rare (for me) sport of actually chasing a train.

Pat and I found Chris to be very personable, with many diverse interests. After going out to Rochelle (checking out the new three-track main line at LaFox on the way), we returned to home territory, taking a quick trip to Proviso, then seeing the BN three-track through Westmont and Downers Grove before returning Chris to Aurora.

Looking forward to Chris' return sometime around Christmas--maybe more of you could join us then!

Well, the weather over here in PA is very cold, windy, and rainy. Now, they are talking snow in late evening tomorrow into eairly morning of Thanksgivig! Well, this will be interesting, its a good thing I'm not driving to my cousins house in Delran, NJ on Thursday, I'll let someone else do that! lol

The Polar Express came out on DVD today, so of course I went out an bought it for about 6.50, I had a membership to the video store, so i got a good discount. I plan on watching it later on tonight, I watched it four times in theaters.

Chicken is still in Denver on R&R. (The "fowl-up" is in Cincy and is a minor distraction, will be there several times next year, including a side-trip to Louisville in Sept. - "da boyz couldn't be left in Denver w/o an acceptable caretaker, so we sits here and work on the house....and catch-up on my sleep.)

Good Morning Everyone,

Sorry I've been AWOL here. Went to White Pines over the weekend, and have stayed busy with other activities since then. My apologies.

Managed to get a couple train shots out there, but nothing desperately interesting. Had to do my sister's senior shots, so that took priority. Today I should bring back quite a catch though while headed out with Carl. Maybe we'll see some dinosaurs like I did yesterday on the Aurora sub (couple of geeps, one a B-unit, with an SD9 on an intermodal of all things!) Sadly, as I stated in the other post, my camera was not with me (that'll teach me to forget my Boy Scout days!).

Will you give out the receipe for your sloppy man's? Just ingredients will do. I cook by taste and what sounds good to me, so don't need exact measurements. That sounds good - have never tried the canned version - always figure I can do the scratch one.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone! Hope Mookie is in today. Missed her
somehow, yesterday. She must have been really busy, preparing for the
Thanksgiving holiday!!

Coffee and juice is ready, along with the usual breakfast items on the
warmer bar. The people will be showing up in about a half hour, to
sign in for Produce Day. Everybody have a good morning, and I'll be
back in later.

They were called "Untidy Josephines" by some branch of wife's family--never heard the whole story.

Manwich is good; we used to like Aunt Nellie's canned sloppy-joe mix better, but can no longer find it.

All of these mixes call for ground beef, but we had a bunch of sliced roast beef left over from a family gathering once. I slivered that stuff and put it in the sauce instead of ground beef. Surprised a bunch of folks--it tasted great, too.

and it's entitled "Sloppy Joes". I jus always think of my brother-in-law, when
I think of Sloppy Joes (and he's not really a sloppy person). I'll try to remember,
from now on, to refer to them as Manwich sandwiches, o.k?
