Mudchicken, I'm doing my best.

Breakfast this morning: your choice of these cereals:
Corn Flakes, Raisin Bran, Cheerios, Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa
Pebbles. Golden Grahams, Alpha Bits.

Sunday Dinner and supper will be: country-fried pork chops with
mashed potatoes (real potatoes cooked and mashed, not instant
taters), and mixed veggies, along with a nice salad.

Dessert: peach pie w/ice cream, and blueberry cobbler. (If some-
one has any ripening blackberries, bring them in, and I'll make
some blackberry cobblers for tomorrow.

Just got off the phone with my parents, they lost two large tree branches from the storms yesterday, one nearly took out my sister's car.

Lost a few branches around here near Madison, not too bad, though

Weather report saying we could see the same thing Monday thru Wednesday around here, but temps should moderate after today's pressure cooker[xx(][xx(]

A bowl of Cheerios, please, CW, with 2% milk or better. I appreciate it.

Sounds like "Feast or Famine", doesn' t it? It's 92 and climbing to 102 here in Aurora. No, we would not have liked the winds you got up there in America's Dairyland, but we sure could have used some of the rain! Chicago Tribune had major articles on the extreme drought here this morning and the disaster it is causing to the farmers near here. Rain is forecast for Tuesday along with moderate cooling into the mid eighties.

.....This is going to be a hot one....90 here in Muncie at 11:35 am...and that means they very well could reach the projected for this afternoon of 97-98 with high humidity.

I would be happy if all you Wisconsinites would just send some water down the Rock River. Two of the local good ol boys drove 4x4s across river on Friday night. We did it in 89, back when I was into 4bys. Just take off the fan belts and put her to the floor. 44 inch tires, a lift kit and much alcohol (in the operator, not the motor) usually do the trick. The old Ford versus Chevy thing runs strong between 4x4 owners. We never considered Dodge owners to be a viable contenders.[(-D]
Joe (the keyboard player in the band) bought a kayak. Took it out on the Rock, and ended up walking most of the way. Not enough water to support a kayak! Sad.
They close the dam at Sterling/Rock falls so all the big money boats in the marina can run and all of us downriver can't even put in a 16 foot flatbottom to fish.[banghead]
Anyway, going to stay in the AC today and stay cool and get ready for 3rd shift tonight. It's going to be miserable in there tonight. The plant is that 8 story cement building right next to the interstate in Rochelle with the cross on the top. The first floor is air conditioned in production areas but the rest is not. 7 stories of cement absorbing this heat and sun is not going to be pretty by 11 tonight.
CW- bring on the sliders!!!!!!! Perhaps we should inform the "non-knowing" what sliders are before they order some up.[(-D] That's okay, I'll eat any that get sent back.
I can kill a 20 pack. I look at it as a interior body cleansing.LOL Just skip the pickles, I always pick them off anyway. They dilute the true Slider flavor!
Well, will stop in for breakfast tomorrow and plenty of liquids after tonight.
Go Cubs, let's pluck some red feathers today!! I'll take 2 out of 3! D-Lee for MVP!!!!

Yeah, Willy, I do also have the White Castle sliders on today's menu also.
Just forgot to mention it this morning, when I listed today's food choices.
(For those who are uninformed as to what White Castle is, it's a hamburger
place, shaped like a small, square castle. Hence, the name, White Castle.
They have very good square-shaped hamburgers. There's even a movie out
about two guys traveling around, trying to find a White Castle in New Jersey,
after seeing a commerical on tv.

100 and holding here in Aurora, IL at 4:28, I think we've seen the worst of the heat for today as it should now begin to cool a bit as the sun begins to set in the western sky. No signs of any storms in the area. It is at times like this that I realize why I could never live in the far south like Florida or Texas, I just can't take this heat for very long.

Our current temp is 91, with 100 degree heat index. We've been in the
house all day, drinking water and lemonade.

Pat, haven't heard anything on Don Williams in quite a few years. Bet he
still sounds as good as ever, right?

Joe, I'm really glad that the air in the Diner is cranked all the way up: otherwise,
not sure how much cooking I'd be doing.

Pat, only saw him perform once, about 20 years ago. He was here in Louisville
for the Derby Festival's Phillip Morris country music show.

It' s just before 6 p.m. here and it is still 99 with a heat index of 106. They say it will get down to about 80 tonight but I have a feeling it will be a little better than that...perhaps 75 or so if we are lucky. Stay tuned.

Hey everybody it's 7:55pm on sunday and the temp is still 94F but the good thing is it going down to around 75f tomorrow and I think the hot days are over with for now. But we still have 1 month of summer before the cold weather returns to wisconsin.

Sorry I haven't been in lately. With a bona fide slow day predicted at work Friday, I took the day off, planning on taking care of a little business and getting in some sailing on the ol' sailfish. Everything was going good until I got about a half mile out in a nice breeze (not too fast, not too slow, waves tolerable) and the base anchor of the mast decided to cut loose, leaving me with a half mile paddle with a mast all out of kilter. At least the boat didn't sink.

So, I've been working on repairs most of the weekend, plus running a water ball tournament on Friday night and preps for and participation in a parade today. Getting caught up on some housework tonight - filled the dishpan with really hot water and catching up on-line while it cools to where I can work in it.

Will see if I can be a little more available this week.

Well I certainly had a real interesting day today. I played my bouble hearder softball game and my team "Sandbaggers" won both games but, it was heck outside today espeaciy the feilds that we played at, the ground is un even and hard like rock almost. The feilds are in Norristown, PA (any one who is familiar with the greater Philly area will know that Norristown isn't the best place in the county.) It was also very hott outside today and I personally have accomplished the goal today of drinking 2 gals of water in about five hours. Anyway, because we won the two games we're going to the playoffs which start two weeks from now. I so far have had a prefict season of never striking out. Today I hit two home runs in the second game. I also got a nice lovey throw of the ball in my face today by my pitcher. (I'm the catcher for the team). Suprisingly, it didn't hurt too much but I had and still have a brused lip. I also injured myself sliding into first and runing hard into third I fell rolling on the hard ground and sliped. But, I'm ok now, however my right arm is very tired from throwing back to the pitcher two games in a row.

Other than my game I didn't really do too much this weekend. I need to get out more huh?/

9:30 pm here in the beautiful 1000 Islands, and it's 72 degrees. Aside from a random sprinkle, we're getting weather that is what summer should be all about.

On the other hand, I got soaked running the waterball tournament for a neighboring fire department on Friday night. For those who have never seen/heard of waterball, our version involves pushing a tetherball suspended below a 100 (between the stops) wire. Two teams of 3-5 firefighters use straight tip nozzles to (hopefully) pu***he ball down the wire. It can get interesting. I was doing fine in just my fire coat and helmet until a little rain cell came through and changed the wind direction to "soak the official." And I got soaked. Felt good, though. I think my boots are almost dry.

We got the 3 H treatment a couple of weeks ago (and are as likely as not to get it again), but we're thankful for some rain (do have to mow the lawn again, though) and milder temps.

Junction - We try not to burn fire stations down, but it does happen, and for many of the same reasons houses burn. It would be nice if every fire station was of fire-resistive construction and sprinklered, but it just ain't so. On top of that, we have a lot of stuff in them that will burn, and all too often, fire apparatus that should have been retired years ago, with their accompanying electrical problems. At today's prices for apparatus and structures, that was probably almost a million dollar fire.

Good morning, everyone. Guess we're all in for more hot days: it is summer,
after all.

Breakfast this morning: bacon, eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy.

Lunch today will be sandwiches of the cold cut variety, with lettuce and
tomatoes.

Still thinking on the supper menu.

Mookie, hope you had a restful weekend, and did you finish your Arry Potter
book? We've not read any of them. Are they good reading?

Hmmm..... A bit dead in here.... oh well.

Last night's poker tournament was a bit warm, due to the bar's A/C units not working correctly. Everything started to stick together-cards, chips, etc.

With the help of some rain, it cooled down to a balmy 70 degrees, forcast for Madison says around 90 with storms all day and night.

Be in later to stay cool, hopefully.

Lunch is served, folks. Hmmm, wonder if Mookie is out in the shade, curled
up in the hammock. Guess I'd better go check and take her some nice, cold
ice water.

I've also got some herbal peppermint tea brewing in the fridge.
