Jay, congratulations on the newest addition to your family. When little Mia
makes her first visit to Grandpa's house, you can hold her all you want, rock
her, etc., just to have the privilege of spoiling your first grandchild. When next
month, seems like you'll have another one to spoil!!

Also, give our (mutt & me) congrats& best wishes to the rest of the family.

Even though it's so hot and humid, supper tonight will be:

spaghetti and meat balls, Texas garlic toast, and garden salad.

Chris, thank you ever so much for bringing in the extra sports drinks.
Know they will be much appreciated by everyone here today.

It will be a high of 75 today on the coast, but don't drive five miles inland because it will be in the 90's, and 10 miles inland in the100's. no tornados and no rain squales. Yes I pay a high price to live here, but it's worth it to me . Come on out to San Diego area and see the Midway,if you want to see some big staem engines, it just doesn't run on tracks.

Amen brother. I try not to talk weather to much in here, don't want to make anyone jellous[;)][:D].

Hi all, been pretty busy lately so I havn't been in here much but things have slowed down the last couple of days and I've been trying to catch up on all the boards and news spots I regularly hit. As mentioned the weather here on the coast is quite comfortable. Next week I have to go out to the desert and splice in some new plant. Not looking forward to that, the temps out there have been hitting the 120s.[:0] Havn't had to work in that kind of heat science I worked in Palm Springs 8 years ago. Anyway just stopped in to say hi and grab a nice tall glass of ice tea.

Have agreat day everyone.[8D]

Our newest fire truck doesn't have the DT466 in it, but I don't recall what it does have... Can't make out the plate in the pictures. Both our old tanker and our pumper do have the DT466 in them.

Darn, I knew we shouldn't have stopped at Mickey-Dees earlier. We also had a beautiful million-dollar rainstorm this morning as well. 6/10ths of an inch.

Long range forecast has our Sunday coming up here to touch 96...! Got a bit of rain about an hour ago...Nothing severe and just a nice brief rain. Radar had big red bloches coming our way from the northwest but some went south of us and others dissipated. Got off lucky and some rain for a bonus.

Modelcar,
That must have been the 'patch' that our weather people were showing
a few minutes ago;that we are 'supposed' to get in the wee hours. If it
will cool things down some,We're all for it. We got to 95 today as the official,
with the heat index at 100.

James, [#welcome] to the Diner !

Tom,I found some green paint,if you still need it for the yard;
better yet, come cut our grass, take the clippings and spread
on your yard,be green for awhile ! [swg]

Locomutt....No maybe the one they are alluding to is the one on the radar screen right now....I just looked in the last 5 min. and it is sliding toward us but....I believe most if not all the red part will slide just under us...It looks nasty.

Yeah MC,I think I misjudged the direction of travel on that first one.
I looked again, and there is a BIG patch of red on the map that looks
like it could slide down this way.

RED ALERT:!!!!!!!!! Guys we need to save our railroads. Read this http://www.progressiverailroading.com/freightnews/article.asp?id=7225
This could end railroads, as we know it. E-mail Congressman Green at mark.green@mail.house.gov
I have already done so. Please (I'm pleading) send your congressman a letter tell him that will kill the railroad industry, that truck lines and others offer competition to railroads that are fighting to survive. Ask what happened to the Uncle Sam that supported the railroads. Use your power granted to you in the 1'st amendment of the US constitution. Let them hear you.

Quintin, overnight, we had several power outages here in the city. Luckily,
power for our area stayed on. We got some rain, winds, thunder & lightning
around 2:15, 2:30 this morning. It was heavy at times. Hope it did slide under
you for the bad stuff.

Breakfast this morning: turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits
& gravy, hash browns.

Lunch today: chicken fried rice.

Supper tonight: PIZZA.

....CW....No problems here during overnight from the weather...It did slide under us and I did hear of power outages in the Indy area around midnight but we escaped it all. Did get anothter half inch of rain in the rain gauge overnight which is all good. So guess most of us were lucky. Did hear of hail, wind and even of tornado spotting late last night west of us, etc....Don't know of any damage info if any...But today they say the rain / storm activity will give way to just heat and being dry in preparing for our max. temp projected for tomorrow of up to 96...!! Stay in the diner {if it has air}, and be cool.....

Buenos Dias everyone.

Went down to Union Station last night after a portrait shoot I had to get my first glimpse of 844 and 3985. Couldn't get in place to get any decent night shots from public property, but did see both engines. Wow! Does 844 look good after her overhaul! Can't wait to see them in action over the weekend!

Meanwhile, the thermometer only read 103 yesterday, and should only hit 101 today. It seems we are in the midst of a bit of a chill! [(-D] And to think that I left home without my mittens this morning!

CW. Menu sounds good today. Where there is Pizza, you are sure to find Chris! Can I get a slice of Chicago Style Deep Dish, though? You can take the boy out of Chi-town, but you can't take Chi-town out of the boy!

^ ** ^ - Leaving for the weekend - been out back in the hammock - reading 'Arry Potter, which I must say is a lot more interesting than most of the stuff on the forum right now...

Diner excepted!

You all are getting rain, except the true midwest, so I am going to go home and sulk all weekend - in the 103 degree heat! Me and 'Arry.....

Mook, thanks for checking in, I think some of the patrons were about to form a posse.

CW, Did I hear you say PIZZA? I'm there. Sounds great even though I'll be having pizza for lunch. We are having a pizza birthday party at work for one of my guys.

Chris, I'll be looking forward to seeing your pictures of the steamers.

And welcome to the dinner James[#welcome]

Well everybody keep cool and have a great weekend.

Thanks for the congrats on the new grandchild. I should add that this is number 2 in the family. Step son Russ and his wife Amy have Lilli, who is now close to 1 1/2. Time to think about toy trains for her. Russ and Amy are expecting the aforementioned baby boy to arrive in August. I wonder if I can get Russ to hang several train pictures in the delivery room? Can't start recruiting new railfans too early.

Had upwards to 2 inches of rain down in Delavan yesterday and assume Tom also got some relief for his lawn. Reports indicate that the drought has already had an impact on corn yields, but this rain may have been enough to keep things from going from poor to disaster.

Yes, James, [#welcome] to the Depot Diner!! Must have still been half
asleep this morning not to have welcomed you then! Please forgive me:
didn't mean to overlook a new patron!!

Chris, called a Chicago pizzaria, and they are delivering a deep dish pizza
especially for you, with everything on it. Is that o.k. with you?

Chad, if you like, I'll fix you something else for supper. What would you like?

Jay, just bypass Russ and Amy, and ask the doctor if you could put a couple
of train pictures up in the delivery room!! Think that would be real neat.
