Joe, you know we always have fries for Matt.

Tom, call the fries whatever you want: just come in and EAT!!

Jay, have a "good" time on the farm. Miss being on the farm, even though it
was a very small farm. Always had things to do this time of year. Beginning
to can vegetables for the winter, hoeing the garden, cutting grass, making sure
the cow, dog, cats had enough water.

Supper tonight: how about a BLT without with the bread? Will make a huge
garden salad with plenty of bacon and tomatoes in it. Also stocked up on
lemonade, tropical punch, and have plenty of iced tea made up.

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS MOOKIE?!?! Haven't seen her in
here all morning!

We're having BLTs without the bread. In other words, it's a garden
salad, with bacon that's been fried (or zapped in the microwave), and
broken into pieces in the salad.

Just checked our local temp: 90 degrees, with humidity reading of
57%. At least the sun's gone in behind the clouds right now. Not
like when I went to the post office with my neighbor: sun was shining
real good.

Temps here are delightful today - what a summer day should be all about. High, puffy clouds, a gentle breeze, humidity livable, temp around 80. Sooooooo nice after all that humidity.

The salad sounds good (again). I'll have mine with some garlic bread and a Vernors over crushed ice...

CW I think I'll take some of that salad now. I'm glad I'm able to have some BLT stuff tonight since I missed the BLT's with bread yesterday. ( I think it was yesterday). I 'm going to go with the Tropical Punch too for a drink.

Ya know Mookie might of taken the day off today, she had the right idea because over in PA it was HOT HOT HOTTTTTTTTT. I should of taken the day off from work, it was so hot out and inside we don't have AC except in the office, which happens to be the place were I don't work. lol. I heard a train today at work and I could tell it was only lest than 1/2 mile away. I wanted to go chase it but I was in the middle of taking off pipes on a darn school bus exhaust, which was murder all together. I was assigned to do four buses today and I only got one done because, I didn't have guidelines, nor did I have all the correct parts. I also had to cut two of the pipes down because they were too long. Go figure.

Yeah the temp is looking a little bit better around here and more rain is on the way. But we would need about. 5inches of a good rain to put a big dent in our drought that we go going on here. The temps are going to be low 70's to mid 80's tomorrow which will feel realllllly good for a change. Hey maybe I'll be the 1st one to start on page 387 which will be a 1st for me. [:D][:D]

Andrew,

I'm glad you can 'dance' around like that;if we did that here right now,
We would pobably pass out from heat exhaustion !!
Right now,our temp. is around 90-91;with the heat index approaching 100 !!

Will be glad to see some cooler temps. but I believe we are going to have
to wait until at least late next week. Our forecasters are calling for the temps
to be in the high 90s for this weekend, with H.I. going up comparably.[:(][xx(]

Hope everyone's enjoying the breadless BLTs tonight. That was so good.
Got the idea from the Kraft Kitchens website. But, where they had uncooked
bacon, I cooked it in the microwave, and broke it up. Mutt had his bacon on
the side, with his salad.

Now all I have to do, is think of cool, refreshing menus for tomorrow's lunch
and supper.

You'll have to see CW about the menu, although she is open to other
ideas. Yours doesn't sound too bad,but I imagine that 'desert' shake is
a bit on the 'dry side'.[swg]

Actually got some rain in Madison today, unfortunately it all came down at once, and flooded out a few streets. Hope it helps the corn along some.

Sarah, International buses? I used to do quite a few of them, I think we averaged changing out all the exhausts about once a year. Once all the parts showed up from IH, we could knock one out in about 1-1/2 hours. We also usually kept an entire exhaust on hand for quick turnaround (drop bus off in morning and it's ready for the afternoon route).

Looks like I'll be getting back into working on trucks again, either fixing them for Capitol Warehousing in Windsor or building trailers in Stoughton for (who else?) Stoughton Trailers. Should do me some good.

locomutt....Same forecast for up here...Next 5 days 90 or 90's plus nasty humidity...Saw 93 on bank thermometers in Muncie today and our unit at home right outside of the city before the peak heat...was right on 90 and the index was really nasty. Wife and I with granddaughter were out on our Cardinal Greenway Trail {with bikes}, yesterday and this morning and it's just way too hot for such punishment...

Whew!
I just returned from five days of flying all around this country, including the last two days when I had to get up at 4:30 a.m. to catch early flights! Now I'm up to head into work. I need a lot of hot black coffee and keep it comin', darlin'.

Good morning all. Looks like it's going to be another hot, hot, hot
one today. [V] I know it's that time of year, but man, oh man, would I like to
see snow right now.

Breakfast this morning: anything you want from the regular breakfast menu.

Tharmeni, there's always plenty of hot coffee around here. I drink it all day long.
(actually, after about one, two hours, I turn the pot off here at home, and drink
the coffee at room temp.)

Okay, since no one else bothered to give me some ideas for lunch and
supper for the next couple of days, today, we go with railfan619's suggestion.
Lunch will be ham (&cheese) sandwiches, and potato chips.

Will let everyone know the supper menu around one p.m.

Sure hope we see Mookie back today. Sure did miss her yesterday. Hope
she just took a vacation or personal day, and wasn't sick yesterday.

Well gosh darn it I can't believe how eaily I am being here in the diner. Ok CW I think I'll have some pan cakes, and a tall glass of orange juice. I need that to start off my day. Well part of the reason why I'm in here so eairly is because, I'm not feeling too well and decided to take the day off. I can do without being in that intense heat today.

rvos1979 how did you know the buses I was working on were International?? Yes they were and they are a pain to work on. Like I said yesterday I only got the one exhaust done and today I was suposed to finish up the other three but, that's not going to happen since I'm not at work. I personally wi***hat you were there since you've done them before, I could of used the guidence. The new buses have the DT466 with the EGR. We call them the new EGR engine to cut back on emissions. Good luck on you future endevors with trucks hehehehe.

And a tip top o tha' marnin to everyone...

Well, in the history of recorded Denver weather, we've only hit 105 twice. The first time was in 1878, and the second was yesterday. Somehow I'm not exactly thrilled about being a part of this auspicious occasion. [xx(]

I've brought a case of sports drinks, and a bunch of SPF 30 sunblock for everyone n the diner today. Remember to be careful out there in such conditions everyone!

Happy Rails!

Boy by the weather talk, you folks need to come out west ,to the coast. It will be a high of 75 today on the coast, but don't drive five miles inland because it will be in the 90's, and 10 miles inland in the100's. no tornados and no rain squales. Yes I pay a high price to live here, but it's worth it to me . Come on out to San Diego area and see the Midway,if you want to see some big staem engines, it just doesn't run on tracks.

A delicious 73 and comfortable here as I write this.

Can we make the cheese on mine Swiss (and put it on seeded rye)? Some hot mustard will dress it up just fine. I'll have barbeque chips, too, please.

Was at the county fair the other day (doing EMS duty) and enjoyed a "sasparilla." Very good, thank you!

Whoever's doing the rain dance keep doing it, we need (and are about to get) another batch of rain. Might get ugly here real quick, though.

IH is still using their venerable DT466? Boy, that engine is getting up there in years. I would have thought they had designed and built a new engine model to meet emissions. Cummins' 855CID engine hs it beat, though, it's in its fourth or fifth incarnation right now, and I don't think it needs the EGR to meet the new requirements!

Much as I'd love to see Philly, I think i'll stay in the Badger state for a while longer.

Eggs, bacon, and pancakes sound good for breakfast.

Step daughter Melissa has officially changed main job from musician to mother. Mia Lander arrived this morning weighing in at 6/8 and 21 inches. All are well. Grandma Linda is off to Maryland next week. Uncle Matt and I take the train out on 8/3.

A further addition is coming to Cincinnati August 7, reported to be a male type. Busy times.
