....That view from the airport restaurant sounds great....Visited a restaurant at the Latrobe, Pa. airport several years ago for lunch {just medium size}, and it had such a nice view of the tarmac and we here in Muncie have a restaurant right on the edge of our airport with a wall of windows facing the field and we can watch lots of small craft and some Corp. size jets activity...All interesting. Restaurant used to be owned by Jim Davis of Garfield fame....Who has his establishment nearby....

Lots of emotions at this phase. Right now, "nervous" is not one of them--surprising, especially if you know me!

This noon we're going to have a brunch at the restaurant-with-a-view that we found in Glen Ellyn: Bride and groom, bride's parents (that's us!), groom's parents, groom's grandparents, groom's niece, groom's great-aunt, matron of honor, sister of the bride, and bride's niece (our granddaughter!). I don't know who's gonna pay for this; all I ask is for a seat facing the tracks!

And afterwards, I'll have to take up exercise [;)].

Sounds like you have already dug up the coffee can buried in the back yard. Hope you finish up with enough left to at least keep tires on the bike. Been there, done that, and wisely followed advise about discussions of budget and expenditure: "Don't even think about going there!" lol

Well, today is the day I go out, and look for another job. I'm shooting for one of the train stores around here, so I can make up for the loss of my job at Purkey's Toy Trains. I think I need a job now that I am used to it, spending all day doing nothing but cruising the net gets boring after a while.....

Jay! A raspberry to you, too!

The monthly staff meeting actually broke up in 45 min. We were at half-staff and fortunately, most of the windy ones were in absentia!

99% of the staff just grins and bears it once a month and wouldn't you just know it - the Mook is the one they have to take in the room kicking and screaming! I don't do meetings quietly!

Just wanted to drop in and say hello to everyone. My schedule over the last couple of months has forced me to be a lurker, but thats all settling down now. I just can't believe summer's mostly over and I haven't even been to IRM or Rochelle since April! Say it ain't so!

Anyway hope all is well and the coffee is still flowing. I hope to stop back in and have some meat loaf again soon!

It is mid-July already though, seems like May and June just came and went like the breeze. Our season starts in September, so to me there's really only about 5 weeks left of summer. It is mostly over in my book. Now if someone would just tell the weather man. We need a fall rainstorm!

The lunch was great. Couple of no-shows and a poor niece who misses her family, but otherwise very enjoyable. Easy to see where the groom-to-be gets his wackiness, at least two prior generations. Also four freights and three scoots while we were there.

(I got my seat near the window, and there were separate checks. Jay, I'd like to find that coffee can!)

Next occasion: a co-ed shower tonight. This one is in Bensenville, not far from the ICE/Metra main line. Never been there for any length of time before; might go north and east a little to see what CP is doing.

Nah - Animated chew toy for the dog (not really - pretty much ignores her unless she moves quick precipitating a chase). My dog, on the other hand, will be in a huff for the entire month, since she's not the sole recipient of my attention.

Carl- I like railfanning in Bensenville but it can be slow sometimes as far as movement goes. Still there is always a lot to see, and parts of the yard afford pretty good views from the businesses on Green St. I also like to sit in the parking lot of the little bar right next to the tracks off of Irving Park and York. It puts you lees than 50ft from the tracks. Veteran's Park and the Metra station are okay locations as well. Of course Franklin Park is nearby with the MILW B-12 tower and MILW caboose.
There's quite a bit to keep you busy.

Mookie- Let me know if you have some cookies ready. I haven't met a cookie I didn't like.

Both dogs grew up with Pookie and don't really think of her as a "cat." In fact, my dog, Keiko, won't even look at Pookie if you say "get the cat." She thinks those strays that used to live in a shed next door are cats. Pookie is just Pookie. Neither fears the other.

Angus doesn't so much ignore Pookie as just watch her carefully as she passes through between one hiding place and other. If she spooks and runs, he'll give chase, at least for a few steps. Otherwise they get along fine.

When my son and (now) daughter-in-law visited here last fall, they brought along their newest - a 2 lb (a the time) mini-dachshund named Smokey (that's him sneaking food out of Angus' dish). Angus would have nothing to do with him, which was hilarious - a 75 lb Dal jumping up on the couch to get away from a 2 lb weiner dog!

Rabbits, on the other hand, are fair game, which is a pain as they usually have a ton of fleas and can't remember how to get back out of my fenced back yard if he gives chase (which he does). Several rabbits have met their demise that way.

Carl I'm glad eveyone had a good time at lunch today, I've got to day one thing. I KNEW you went about to pay for eveyone's lunch. lol
Well nothing too exciting happend to me today. I got up (missed breakfast in the dinner) went to work, got off work eairly and then went to the dentist. How much fun is that??/ maybe tomorrow I'll have a better day since it's friday and it's pay day and. it's also a good day for me to do some railfaning since, NS trackage is only about 3 miles from my job on the other side of the Schukill (spelling) River.

One last thing WE NEED RAIN!!!!!!!!

....No not quite....but went right past it....Big tower at building with the Rolling Rock icon on it...When we first came to this neck of the woods...{Indiana}, they had never heard of such beer....My home was within 30 miles of it {Latrobe}...way back when and now the beer is everywhere......Years ago, used to call out for another "Pony"....

We were supposed to get scattered thunder storms here in Boonsboro according to Yahoo! We might have gotten rain for about, I don't know, five minutes. Breakfast this morning is all the usual breakfast menu fare. But, for lunch,
you all will have: meatloaf, mashed potates, gravy, and cherry cobbler or
peach cobbler for dessert.

Supper tonight will be: your choice of the following: liver and onions, pork
chop abracadbra, baked potatoes, and garden salad. There will also be
cherry and peach cobblers for dessert, along with ice cream.

Mookie, I'm surprised you didn't sniff out and locate the cobblers and meatloaf!
It's beginning to warm up here this morning. Temp's already inching up to
the mid 70s, and foggy.
