We didn't get enough to turn anything green except the weeds. Local weathercaster referred to his lawn as "shredded wheat"--that about says it for me--I'm probably going to injure the mower blades with it today.

Keep the iced tall ones handy, please--between doing the lawn and playing gofer I'll be needing them!

....Still getting a light fine rain but it's not adding up very fast....Now total at a bit after noon is: .4" from Dennis. But it is soaking in well and my yard is nice and green. Mowing at 3 1/2" height has helped. Been doing that for weeks.
But next...must find some lunch and today will be Pizza King Pizza for wife and Subway for yours truly. So much for noon report.

... Ok on the birthday and happy birthday...Jim....but just had to get out of the house...and that means food as we're out. Still just a very light rain falling for us here in Muncie...Just doesn't look like we're going to get what I thought we'd get from Dennis...but as I said earlier, we'll take it and appreciate what we're getting. We have so many fast food places and real restaruants here on the north side of Muncie...Mcgalliard Rd.....one could try a different one for many days in a row and not repeat....We're 5 1/2 miles west of center of city, Muncie courthouse....and it's just a short distance to get to all these commerical places. The menu does really sound great at the "diner" though.....

Diet cream soda? I'll mix a round of that in with the Dew. Lawn is done--going over the north forty to spiff it up for potential wedding guests in this drought gives new meaning to the term "crunch time"!

I've been relieved of "gofer" responsibilities for tonight, in spite of the fact that I promised to take a shower after doing the lawn. So after said shower we'll take a trip, grab a bite out here, and wait for relatives to get situated.

Actually, that's a funny story. I used to live in Sykesville, Maryland, closer to the B & O than I am now. I was only about 45 minutes to an hour away from the Museum, but now, that would be roughly 2 and a half hours. Sad, ain't it?

Hey, we got one of those "out of the north" storms today, too! Several, actually, and ours had ice (hail) involved, not to mention bunchs of lightning and a little wind. All told, they dropped some 3/4" of much needed rain on us. Made for a damp morning at the county fair, but by late afternoon the sun was very much in evidence (as was the humidity) and the crowds were starting to arrive.

Our county fair is the oldest continuously running county fair in the state, and ranks pretty high in the entire country for longevity.

Evening All! Been swamped for two weeks. Had ten pages to catch up on. Seems like the primary topic is lack of rain. Some farmers here are making sillage out of 2 foot high tasseled corn. Only in ILL could we get a hurricane and still stay dry. Unbelievable!
Well, update from the sandbar:
Step-daughter back in hospital, seems the original DR set up her insulin levels before she dropped 91 lbs, yet the new DR was keeping her on those levels. We finally got her a regular diabetic DR and dietician and things are much better now. We couldn't figure out why her sugar levels were bottoming out about 3 o'clock. Now we know.
Started back to work with my "new" knee. OUCH!!!!!!!! The first shift stupivisor was on vacation, so I was covering him, then after two days the second shift SV quit, so I started covering 1st and as much as I could stand of second. Been doing 12 to 14 a day. After 5 weeks off it's quite a jolt to the system. Money's a welcome site but haven't had much time to sneak into Diner. By the time I get home, I do the 3 "S"s grab a bite, and head to bed. Got off a little early tonight, so I thought I'd drop in and let you know I'm still alive. (Barely)
Anyway, am gonna crash and burn, so I'll try to drop in later in week and catch up and say hi to everyone. Are we still planning our playdate at Rochelle? Willy [zzz] [zzz]

Is that going to be one of those meetings where everbody thrashes
everything around and comes up with absolutely nothing ?
If so,sounds like a lot of them I used to be subjected to in the past;
never cared for them at all. Now on the other hand,a five minute "Pep" talk
usually did wonders.(like get it done,or you're done!)

....Meetings....oh, the way retirement cures all of that....But guess it's something that must occur in organizations. Just too bad they have to be so extended such as the 2 hr. deal....
Muncie has been left out of the moisture from Dennis...What a surprise to me....We got .4" and that's it. Chance of more but no big line of weather approaching us. One thing that has helped is the cloudy skies and reduced heat...Lawns are able to recover somewhat just without the sun beating down and a little bit of moisture we did get.

Mookie, of course chips are in the veggie family: after all, they're
another version of potatoes, and potatoes are definitely
veggies!!

And I like your idea for lunch: we'll have chocolate cake, chocolate
chip cookies, and along with potato chips, potatoes any way you
want them fixed: baked, fried, french fries, scalloped, cheese
potatoes, etc.

Tip Top O' Tha Marnin' Everyone...

Well, we're up to 60% containment on the Mason fire this morning, and most residents are being allowed back to their homes. It's really quite amazing, too, as it has been 95+ with low humidity the whole time, terrible conditions for firefighters. The only bright spot has been the lack of high winds.

So I might be out for lunch today. I might frequent another dining establishment. [:O] I think I might have to head up to the Runway Grill at Jeffco Airport. The restaurant has a 2nd level deck with seating outside overlooking the tarmac and runway. And the fire planes have been quite active over there lately. I think I'll have to go and grab a couple pictures of them on takeoff and landing. So please excuse my absence this afternoon.
