Good day to you all,

Sorry I've been the shy silent type lately. Been a hectic schedule on this trip so far. Thakfully was able to get out yesterday and enjoy a day of railfanning, and meeting up with Carl, Pat and Chris.

Carl, I must tell you what I did after we parted way, though. I travelled back to Aurora by "stairstepping" (running South and East to keep intersecting the Southeast running BNSF) on country roads along the Aurora sub. At one point I saw a headlight in the distance and parked the car to get a shot from a shallow hill along the roadside. Lo and behold when I went running onto the hill, I found a showdrift waiting for me, and managed to get buried waist deep!

I did manage to get a shot, and then set about freeing myself (and retrieving a shoe lost in the drift).

Also managed to catch a manifest with a CSX unit on the point. That turned out to be a pretty neat shot despite low light levels (it was taken right around 4:00 with that heavy overcast).

Will get everything posted as soon as possible.

Anyways, hope you all had a very nice Christmas, and I wish you all the best in 2006!

But anywho that's really about it from this end oh besides I got to go to work today but oh well it keeps me out of trouble which is always a good thing but I shall be going now and I will be talkin to you all later. Good Thursday morning, everyone! Carl, I know you and Pat enjoyed visiting
with Chris yesterday. Also know that you all had a good time, in spite of the
cold, wet weather. And Carl, you know that you can get a BLT any time
of the day in here.

Breakfast this morning: we'll start with fresh brewed coffee, hot tea, hot cocoa/
chocolate, and juice (orange, orange/tangerine, and pineapple). Then you'll
have your choice of: oatmeal & toast, or turkey bacon, scrambled eggs and
pancakes, or sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy with your choice of hash
browns or fried potatoes.

Joe, once again, please thank Momma for me on the tuna noodle caserole
last night. That was really good and tasty.

Everyone have a great morning, and I'll be back in a little bit to post the lunch
specials for today.

You guys were at the pavilion today? Brrrrrrrr!!!!! I think I'm developing a case of cabin fever here- I'm sure getting tired of cloudy, foggy, misty, dreary weather. My son and his girlfriend are spending the week with us; she's originally from Tampa, now LA, and has never experienced this kind of weather before.

She'll probably never want to come back.

A BLT sounds positively great. Hope I can get one this late in the day.

Willy, I finally got hold of Chris this morning. He had wheels available to him, so he went out to Rochelle. Pat, my son-in-law (also Chris), and I met him out there. In spite of trackwork being done at the diamonds (building up the frogs, I suspect), there were plenty of trains today. I wluld say that 80 percent of what I saw (all UP--no BNSF except in their yard) was coal movements, loaded and empty, split up about evenly. We joined Chris for lunch, and braved the cold, wet weather for a little while before heading back home.

Good afternoon how are we all doin today fine and dandy. I hope well today is another ugly day here in wisconsin the skies are grey it cold and rainy. It's a good day to stay in bed and do nothing but unfortanly I can't do that but anywho I do see light at the end of this tunnel. Oh CW what's for din din since I have not really been around that much but I still have a couple of days of my vaction to spend time here in the diner with all of you. Which is a very good thing. Oh well I shall be going now and I will be talkin to you all later.

Hello everyone.....

Belated Merry Christmas to everyone, I had a nice Christmas back home at my parent's in Burlington, WI. We invited my grandparents from my mom's side over for Christmas eve, had dinner and opened presents. Went to my grandmothers' house on Sunday, my dad's side of the the family is the only one that understands that cows need to be milked on schedule (almost 28 years and mom's side of the family still can't figure out why my dad needs to leave at 3:30 for chores). I also decided to grace my moms' side of the family with my presence, but that was pretty much just watching the Packer-Bear game.

At the rate this weather is going, I'll probably be able to take by new bike on a test ride this weekend on all the bike trails in Madison. Temps have been between 30 and 40 degrees for the last 5-6 days or so, and it looks like it will stay that way for a little while longer.

A bowl of soup sounds good, CW. I'll take it over in the corner wher I have my PS2 set up. Don't let Matt over by me-I'll be playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and that game is definately not for him!!

Well, I 'm glad to see that I'm not the only one in here that has been receiving unusually strange warm weather durring winter time. It felt like spring here yesterday, and if feels like spring out here today. I'm beginging to wonder if the great state of beautiful Pennsylvania is going to get anymore snow, period this year?/ Ok.........I know don't give up hope for snow just yet. At least I got to snowboard once this year.

CW I think, I will take one BLT and a bowl of soup. I'll also have a sprite to go with that please.

Quinton, our temps are in the middle 50s, with sunshine now. We had some
very light rain earlier. Supposed to be getting more later on this afternoon.

Lunch today will continue on the light side: leftover soup from last night, with
BLTs to go with it.

Willy, hope you back gets better. Mutt's back has been bothering him quite a
bit since Sunday afternoon.

Holy cow, that's WAY up there. We've been up to the Eagle River area a couple of times on vacation. Pretty country.

Well, we're back home again, and I'm ready to head out and make use of the gift card I got as one of my gifts. Our family played a fun little game as part of our gift exchange- my Mom gave everyone a list of stores that she had $40 gift cards for, and then we passed around a cup with two dice. Whenever anyone rolled doubles, they had to stand up and wish everyone else Merry Christmas, and then they could pick the store that they wanted the gift card for. I was lucky enough to roll doubles early, and got to pick one of my favorite places, Menards (the regional home improvement store). Alright, more lumber for the model railroad!

....Here in Muncie it's now 55 degrees and no rain yet...They indicate we may see some today but right now it's pretty bright. I was just on the phone to south Florida and our neighbor there said the temp was 65 so 10 degrees difference .
Finally we have melted all the snow that started {with 7" on Dec. 8th}, and now have bare grass....Looks unusual...but great to get rid of that other stuff.

Pretty quiet here in the Diner this morning. Bent over to pick up some paperwork in the office this morning, BAM popped a rib out. Went up to chiro , got it popped back in, came home, popped a Vicadin and am now on my way to LA-LA land.
So if I start getting goofier (than normal) as the day goes on, you'll know why.
Had a pretty crummy Christmas. After getting all the kids and grandkids together on Thursday night, everyone started getting the flu. Apparently one of the youngins brought it home from school. Me and Mama got it Saturday night. Down till Monday. Still pretty weak. It's a bad one. Running pretty rampant on the sandbar.
Well, I'll stop in and see what the lunch specials are if I'm not hanging from the ceiling fan by then!!!!! Willy

breakfast ready, and putting the coffee on. Appreciate it, very much!

Weather here: cloudy right now; supposed to rain today. Temps are
in the mid 50s. Feels like spring here, instead of winter. But I'm not
going to complain too much. Know that bitter cold temps will be
here soon.

Yo-Yo weather continues here - Rain Christmas Day, then down into the teens, now rain in the forecast again today. Maybe the wind vane for my weather station will thaw out. The wind has shown as coming out of the NE for three days now...

Jay - Not good news. Sorry to hear it, but you are not alone. Colorado just had a similar issue after warm spell here (69 degrees here yesterday - opened all the windows in the house to air it out before we become shut-in's again), lost a couple of ice fishermen and also having avalanche troubles.

BossHen headed west, her family & friends having not so happy times.

The thaw appears to be almost over and snow returning to eastern CO by week's end.
