Sarah - read the second poem on the page. Sort of sums up why snow can be so interesting.

Besides - eventually it goes away and we can say - "Boy, I'm glad that's over with for this year!"

On the other hand, it's snowing here right now (the lake effect machine has kicked in), and the scanner hasn't shut up for the last couple of hours. Everyone seems to have forgotten how to drive in snow again.[:(!]

At least there hasn't been anything serious.

Hey, that sounds AWEFULLY good!

Congrats on the fourth star, Sarah. The format change will probably arrive before I reach that level.[:(]

I think the management will send you elsewhere for the bottle, Term...

We had reasonably warm temperatures up here today (with even warmer ones expected for the next couple of days), something for which I fear we'll be paying later in the week.

Sarah, I agree with you that the snow may be pretty, both while it's falling (the less wind the better) and after it's fallen. But once one has to begin driving through it again, or is challenged to keep the cars rolling like they should, sentiments like those, if expressed too loudly, could be grounds for execution!

Thank you Carl, Jim, and Chad for your congratulations to me, on my new four star status. [:D] I think the big snow storm my state received Saturday into Sunday had something to do with it. lol

Carl, you wanted to know why I have an obsession (spelling) with snow?// The main reason why is because, I've always been a winter sports fan from playing ice hockey to snowboarding. You should know that by now. [:D] I also think that it's very pretty stuff. Oh and Carl, I still want to go snowboarding!!!! [(-D] AMG

Joe, thanks for sending the Saint Bernards (spelling) after me yesterday! That was really thoughtful, I might of lost my way back home in the White Out yesterday.

The roads here in Philadelphia are very clear, driving is no porblem today. For those of you wanting to know more about the traffic on the NEC, there have been cancelations of all trains up to New York City, Hoboken, and Newark. I don't know if the trains will be up and runing to these places tomorrow. New York City received 26.9 inches of snow, my area of Philadelphia received 18 inches. SEPTA believe it or not was runing on time and on schedule today.

CW I think I will take some of that Cream of Mushroom soup. I sympathise with you it is COLD up here in Pennsylvania too!

Hello All

Congrats Sarah on your new star. [:)]

Well, the sun is out and it is a little warmer than it was the last two days. It was very cold and these last two days I was in the supply truck. BURRRRR ! ! !

We are going to have some warmer weather during the days but the night will be dropping down close to freezin, or even freezing. [:(] That warmer than normal January sure was nice but I am not too fond of February so far. [;)]

Well got to go, time to start lunch and walk the dog. Then time to get ready for work.

Our supper at work tonight will be Chili Cheese dogs, and Frito Pie. I can't wait. [:p] I will probally have some left over, so come join us. [;)]

Morning all
CW-soup sounds so good right now. I've got this darn sinus cold I can't kick. Sucks to be me today.
Sarah- Congrats on your gold star status. Glad you got your snow. My favorite snow activity is what we call hookeybobin where we tie intertubes to the bumper of a truck with 20-25' of rope and go blastin around on the icy roads. You can really get whippin around on turns. Big fun.

I am still cold! Just cannot get warmed up, no matter what
I do. Therefore, it is soup day in the diner: vegetable beef, potato, cream of
mushroom, cream of brocolli, and tomato soup. Have the oven broiler going
to grilled cheese sandwiches to go with the soup.

Also have plenty of cobbler, pie and cake for dessert.

Talked to her last night, actually. Aside from the usual family chit-chat, she said that they are now up to around day 100 without rain, and this is the rainy season...

Good morning everyone. Running a little bit late this morning. Just did not
want to get out of my warm bed. Don't even know what the current temp is
here this morning.

Coffee and juice are ready; turkey bacon and sausage are in the skillets frying.
As soon as they're ready, I'll put on the hash browns, and make the toast..

Everyone have a good morning.

Hey - I still like snow. I'm not into any of the winter sports, but it provides a seasonal counterpoint to summer, and is very much a part of life here. I've got my trusty snowblower, and the town and state do a good job of keeping up with the roads.

On the other hand, my dear mother, who was born and grew up in the wilds of Tug Hill, now lives in Phoenix and has absolutely no desire to see snow again.

Last I heard, the NEC had a few cancellations, but was in much better shape than anything else, with good timekeeping.

I don't understand that kid's fascination with snow. I'm pretty sure I'd outgrown it by her age. Still, there's no hurry--she'll be a cynical old so-and-so like me too soon, anyway.

Did Sarah make it in for dinner? Send out the St Bernards!!!

Got pics from MD resident stepdaughter today. 6 month old Mia with a "What the ....?" look on her face. A good foot in Columbia and the DC-Baltimore area. Is Amtrak running on the NEC?

Hmmm...hey Cher, if I made shoes for a living, would it be cannibalism to partake of your desserts?

(I'll have a little of the peach, please! Honest, I ate supper!)

We made a railfan trip of sorts this afternoon (in clear weather--nudge, nudge!) to Mendota, (where I successfully researched the answer to a nagging freight car question
that I had), then, after dinner, up to Rochelle. Nothing much came through in the short time I was at the park, but coming home we encountered about six westbounds, many of which were standing still (the hottest pig train was running around a train of empty hoppers).

Oh, the neatest thing about the trip was discovering that sometimes the railroad does things right. We were doing about 70 westbound on I-88, and a stack train on UP was keeping up with us! We first saw him between Maple Park and Cortland, and last saw him on the other side of DeKalb, which meant that he didn't slow down much for the town, either.

Hey, Sarah!

Someone else may have beaten me to it, but congratulations on your good-as-gold four-star status!

It does sound like a good sledding snow! Hope the wind didn't bite you too hard--but it warms my heart to picture you coming in from the cold with flushed cheeks and a happy smile!

Okay, we'll try to satisfy everyone's taste buds. We'll have some salmon steaks,
Virginia ham slices fried (so we can have the gravy), and mashed taters green
beans and corn, with fresh bread right out of the oven.

Dessert will be your choice of apple or peach cobbler, and also have a couple
of apple pies.

Just got back from the grocery; was barely flurrying when I left. When I came out
of Kroger, it was really coming down. Mostly small flakes, not sticking. Then,
when I got off the bus 1/2 block from the house, larger snow flakes were falling,
and beginning to stick to the sidewalks and street. Temp down to 31.8 here
outside.

FINNALLY SNOW HAS COME BACK TO PENNSYLVANIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOOO WEEEE HAVE WE GOT SOME SNOW HERE! IT HAS BEEN SNOWING FOR 24 HOURS STRAIGHT, WE EVEN HAD THUNDER AND LIGHTING LAST NIGHT! THERE IS OVER A FOOT OF SNOW ON THE GROUND AND I'M LOVING IT!!!! OH AND IT'S STILL SNOWING. However, I couldn't go snowboarding today because the snow is too deep and too soft. The snow is also very wet here. I did on the other hand end up haveing snowball fights with some of the neighboorhood kids and I went street slidding. I also dove into huge piles of snow. [:D][:D] It really does look beautiful.

I saw a post a whiile back about how serious it is when snow falls in PA due to all the mountains and hills we have over here. That is true, very much so espeacilly in the mountains. They are currently seeing twice as much snow as we are right now.

So I want to take a moment to that everyone who put up with my wining about no snow, I also want to thank everyone who blew the snow over in PA's direction.....keep it comming!!!!

(I sincerely hope I don't look like salmon steaks!)
