Afternoon all.... Would have posted this morning, but my internet connection went down due to the storm last night.....

Got four inches of snow according to the Madison weather radio just yesterday, roommate finished shoveling walk a little while ago and said there was another five inches on the ground. Was fun driving home at 2am this morning, US 51 had seen one pass of the plow, but CTY B hadn't been plowed at all, and I was bucking drifts at 25-30mph in 4WD all the way home. I've yet to hear if work was cancelled today yet, but I don't think it will be. Wishful thinking on my part.

Weekend forecast calls for -30F wind chills for the whole weekend, looks like the truck will be a smoker for the whole weekend.

CW, may I please have a LARGE hot chocolate? I think I'll need it to stay warm today.

I'm sure our son-in-law will take us to an In&Out (or however they do it) when we visit them (probably not until next year). Last time we were in California we discovered Carl's Jr. (nice name--good food, too!). Steak-n-Shake has only come into our area relatively recently--they're definitely not my favorite, but they're good for some variety (and I love their ads, placemats, etc.).

And now the weather report--nearly as dark as night here. Most of what's fallen has been rain, and we did have some lightning and thunder a few minutes ago. I volunteered to stay indoors while Pat did some shopping she felt was necessary.

We've got one down on the southwest side of town (we're northeast) that we like to eat at when we're down that way. I wouldn't rank it as my favorite fast (relatively) food joint, but it's definitely in the top five. Personally, I'd say that Culver's is #1 for this area. I did enjoy hitting an In-And-Out while visiting the left coast, though.

No rain here yet. Highs over the weekend in 20's and perhaps lows will reach down into low teens or lower....

Well, we're getting thunder snow this morning, with 3-6" predicted by supper time. To add insult to injury, our company's intranet went down last night due to a hardware failure of some sort, and it's still down this morning, so I have no access to any of the stuff I need to work on today (they don't want us to store it locally on our PC's hard drive, "you might lose it when your hard drive fails"!). So I guess I'll just enjoy an extended coffee break in here!

Here in the tropical north east it's wind and rain today, although that cold stuff isn't far behind. High of 50 at the house yesterday at noon..... This is February?

High wind warning issued by NWS at 3 am - weather radio woke me up. Time to make sure the hatches are all battened....

We have a chance for some showers off and on today, with things turning ugly
tonight: showers, thundershowers, and gusting winds (though not as high gusts
as you're supposed to get Quentin).

So, on that note, I've made up sandwiches for lunch: bologna & cheese, ham &
cheese, turkey, and roast beef. Mutt and I will be outside the Diner working in the
yard, getting everything cleaned up, while the weather is still warm. Hopefully, what
rain is predicted today, will stay away from our side of the tracks, so we can get
everything done; we're supposed to get a high in the upper 60s today, before the
rain and front comes in tonight.

Got a couple of pork roasts in the Crock Pots, with the veggies cooking with them.
They should be ready by about 5 or 6 EST this evening. Don't worry, Mookie, the
horsey sauce will be on the side, for anyone to use, who wishes to use it.

....Jen, I was just wondering if the weather front that is predicted for arrival here sometime in the PM today has passed your area.....? It is now as warm as spring here and with that front coming at us with cold stuff behind it presents a condition for WIND....so they are saying, maybe up to 50 mph gusts this evening....I haven't looked at the weather map to see if this is an organized front yet and where it really is coming from....But projected radar for us shows it to be a narrow line north and south line coming at us later today.....and then teens for temps over the weekend.....Now that doesn't sound like spring weather we want to see......Temps now in the 50's and heading for 60's today.

No I drive a reefer for a company. It's simple they tell me which way to point the truck & when to be there. As long as I'm there on time & don't do anything wrong getting there real simple. My prob today is my (company's) truck is in freightliner for them to check out a leak of fluid from transmission.

Looking at all the cold weather descriptions,I'm glad to be in Jackson,MS (68 deg,sunny) today. I drive a truck, and I'm trying not to think where I'll be when Freightliner gets my truck fixed.(throw a dart at a map of the U.S.)

Just look out the window at the weather rock, you know the ones they sold as pet rocks then became weather rocks later. [:o)] They are 99.999 % accurate. Well I have scheduled my trip to Missouri for President's day and the following 3 days. And now we have predicted the worst weather this year for around that time. [:(!] [:(!] [:(!]
It hit 71 here today. By Saturday they are saying we will have another round of winter and freezing rain and snow. [:(!] [:(!] [:(!]

Some of you have received emails about my crusade. It is a little too controversial for the forum. [V] [:(] After sending out the email yesterday I am getting reports from several people who have experienced the same thing. [:0]

I worked today on my day off. [:0] It is hard to pass on overtime so I took it. [;)] I worked in the wash house, and did two locos. It is suspose to be a two man job but I was by myself. One of the hotsies had more pressure than some of the firetrucks I have driven. [:0] As a matter of fact, it would even move the manlift I was on. [:p] I will be sore tomorrow after fighting with that hotsie. The day went quickly tho and after work I had a doctors appointment. He said I was good for another 6 months. [:)]

Well, I am trying to watch some of the Olympics. We don't seem to be doing so well this year. [:(] At least, not from what I have seen, so I hope we do better.

I am tired, so I think I will set on the couch (what is left of it anyway) and give some attention to Duchess. [^]

The Chicago weathermen are throwing darts at the board when formulating the forecast again. I've heard everything from 6" to sleet and snow mix to nothing at all becausse it'll go north ( and I live out in the far NW burbs too). I'll still stick with the age old method of sticking my head out the door. Hasn't failed me yet.[:D]

We are? I know we're under a winter weather advisory here for this evening and all day tomorrow, but it sounded to me like the possibility of sleet was the biggest cause for concern. Whatever we get, I'm glad I don't have to go out until near the end of the advisory (DuPage County's along the southern edge of it, so I'm not too concerned).

This weekend's supposed to get very cold for us--highs in the 20s, lows in the single digits. Temperatures below normal--something we haven't had yet in 2006!

Meanwhile, I broke out the bike again for my meeting at work today; added another 20 or so miles.

And Cher, I liked your original menu ideas for dinner! Comfort foods, in potentially uncomfortable weather.

Afternoon everyone....

Revised forcast now shows 9 to 15 inches of snow for our area, with blizzardlike conditions forcast for tomorrow. Should be very interesting driving around tomorrow, at least the fuel tank on the truck is filled up and everything else is in proper working order.

Forcast for people south and east of us calls for ice... I feel sorry for them.
