Mudchicken, I've heard of canned sodas freezing, but can't recall hearing about
any exploding like that.

Got more hot coffee, hot chocolate, hot cocoa going. Know everyone is wanting
hot drinks today. Even have some hot tea going. Heck, I went to the store for
a few more snacks, and I'm sitting here shivering; and I've been home for an
hour and 45 minutes!!

I'm starting to make the dough up for the pizza fest tonight. Here's a list
of the pizzas that will be available tonight:

sausage/pepperoni
supreme (with green & red peppers, onion)
sausage
cheese
mexican (with hot chilli peppers on it)
pineapple
And one pizza with anchovies on it (yuck!)

I'll start baking them at 5:30 EST.

I'm surprised that folks around here are not fond of Steak n Shake.The crew at the other magazine seem to thrive on Steak n Shake. There are none around here,so I've never tried it.Around here,In n Out isclose to the best.Baker's is also very good.For the ultimite L.A. hamburger try a Tommy's chili burger.They are the best available anywhere.I think Popeye's has the best chicken,but I always buy the mild.The spicy is too hot for me.I also like KFC,especially the original.Their honey BBQ wings are a favorite of mine.For fish,I like Long John Silvers,but there are not too many around here.

Woke up this morning to a "21 Gun salute" at 5 am (-14 degrees)......Pop cans along the outside wall of the garage started exploding (When Canada Dry becomes Canada BOOM).....ceiling of the garage now has a thin coating of cranberry ginger ale[swg][swg][swg]

Good news was my diet carbonated caffiene was not affected....

Our high today was originally "scheduled" to be around 30 also,
but apparently when it hit you there,moved just a bit faster our way
than predicted,so we're only supposed to make it to around 20 degrees
today. Had just enough snow to "screw up" the roads around here.
(and most of the idiots had just gotten their courage back to attempt
to drive on "dry" roadways.[(-D][(-D] )

As far as anymore "yard work" today;I seriously doubt it.(not even dressed
like Eskimos.)[sigh]

As far as the "Polar Bear Plunge",I think I'm going to be like Jay,and
just send a donation in for a worthy cause;at best I only do an imitation
of the "dog paddle",and there ain't no way I'm getting in that river !! [(-D]

I think I need a LARGE Coffee to go,please.

Well, winter is raising its ugly head this morning. We have snow in Northwest Arkansas and freezing rain/sleet here. Yesterday thay said we would have 40 for the high today, now they have changed it to only 32. There is ice on the road and everything else. I am happy that it is not worse though, I know it could be. I hope since it has not been as bad as they predicted that many it will stop and leave early.

I have had several cups of coffee this morning. The dog seems to like playing in this stuff and now wants to go out again. So when I come back in, I will need another cup.

I would think the water would feel WARM in this weather- I had -9.something when I first turned the computer on, but now it has already bounced up to -6.8. Hot chocolate for me, too. Hey, anyone else in the diner headed to St. Paul next weekend for the big train show up there?

Ahh, think I will skip the plunge today, by-pass the middle man and just make a contribution direct to the cause. Although..., the water will be about 40 degrees warmer than the air.

Our local Polar Bear Plunge is next weekend: Sunday the 26th, I believe. And no,
you won't catch me plunging into the Ohio River!! I can't swim a lick: no way am I
going to do that, even if it is to raise money for Special Olympics.

hours, at least.

Weatherbug bottomed out at -18 this morning, will rise to a balmy 4 above for a high. Joe, the Polar Plunge is set for 11:30am CST this morning, subject to postponement by the local EMTs (it's their call if frostbite and hypothermia is a concern).

I'll take the industrial size hot chocolate, please.

Good morning, all! Joe, thank you for getting the coffee and cocoa going, and
for making the juice. Also, thank you for making the oatmeal. I've got the toast
going, and some bacon to go with the oatmeal.

Our current temp at 8:21 is in the 23-24 range; but as it's daybreak, will more
than likely be dropping some. Have a little bit of snow on the street, and the
newspaper when I opened the front door to get it off the porch. Didn't hold the
door open long enough to check the wind speed. The snow is supposed to
be completely out our area by noon. So hopefully, we'll be able to get back
outside and finish up in the backyard. (I know, we'll have to dress like Eskimos
to work outside today).

Everybody have a safe day out there in this mess, and will check back in in a
little bit.

Ten below was the last temperature I saw at work this morning. Our Bug is saying -9 right now. The official temperature may be a couple of degrees warmer than that.

....My temp. readout hit a min. of 13.6 about a half hour ago...back up to 14 now...{Heat wave}...and the sun is trying to come through a thin layer of clouds near the horizon. Won't get that much warmer today but it is to be a dry weekend. Just a trace of snow overnight...very minimum. So it feels like February but still doesn't really look like it outside this morning....mostly grass visible and not piles of snow......And March is coming fast.....

Someone said something about throwing darts at the weather map...that made me laugh. [:D]

While I was making my way toward Pineville, MO to the local chain that employs most of Bentonville, I heard a train's whistle. It had to be a train. I don't think the Arkansas and Missouri goes that far, but maybe someone can tell me. Was I just hearing things or catching too many fumes from all the liquor stores on the AR/MO border.

Tina, the other and older Hemphill...like a fine "whine," age is appreciated most by those who do the bottling, (Clairol, Loreal...)

Da** it's cold outside right now!!!!

It's a frigid -11 here in Madison now, forecast low tonight is between -16 and -20, with -35 or so wind chill. Truck is plugged in to keep everything a little thinner (running 15W40 in the truck still), and I was very bundled up tonight when I went out to play poker (Minimum two layers, more like three in places). I wonder if the city will be postponing their Polar Plunge that's supposed to take place tomorrow morning?

Only forecast to hit 8 degrees tomorrow, a good day to go to an indoor model train show.

Well, we were on the chain restaraunt kick..... Was hatched in Zinzinnati (OH, not IA...and that is about as German as it gets) and never saw a Runza.

It's the throw everything in the deepfryer thing that causes pause. (or paws?)...and for whatever reason they never seem to get out of Nebrasky....but they can be found in almost any moderate sized town. (and yes, we stay away from Amigos and Taco Johns[xx(])

I wasn't up there, but I'm guessing that the strong wind blowing down the lake may have actually pushed the water toward the eastern end of the lake, raising the water level. With the size of the waves, I'm won't be surprised to hear of even more damage.

Rough Water on the St Lawrence River at Clayton, NY. According to reports I've gotten, basements of waterfront property were flooded (they are normally above water level). As you can see from the picture (which hopefully will be available for a little while, anyhow) things were pretty rough...

It was 45 and pouring rain as I left for work this morning. Forecast low tonight is 6. I hope the wind settles down.
