Good Thursday morning everyone! I've got the coffee going, and made the
orange juce. Got the paper off the porch a few minutes ago, no rain right at
this time.

Breakfast this morning: your choice of cold cereal w/strawberries, turkey
bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy (yes, Jim, it's sausage gravy), and honey-
due melon.

Morning all......

Reeeeeeeealllllllll foggy outside tonight and this morning, just as bad as the last few days. Found out the wreck (see earlier post) was a little different than posted, the trucker was crossing the eastbound lanes when a car hit the trailer, killing the driver of the car. State troopers were saying nobody was slowing down, drivers were even flipping off the troopers (bad idea). I think this morning will be more of the same.

Be in for breakfast later.

ha...speaking of annoying animals..

when i was younger still living at my mom's in a far away land called arizona, the house had a chimney for a wood stove-all tin. well, one morning in early spring i awoke to what sounded like an air chisel hammering away at the wood stove. jumped outta bed, looked all around inside, nothing. went outside and looked up and wouldn't you know, a woodpecker was hammerin away at the top of the chimney. for a couple months after that, every saturday morning around 7 or so, the *** bird was peckin away at the chimney. then, one morning...poor bird stepped in front of a pellet from a BB gun. back to sleeping in on the weekends i went.

Guess he couldn't handle the cat, dog, possum,et. al. in here. His loss.

We've had several squirrells in our attic over the years, but believe they
went up the pine tree out front and jumped to the roof, (not the "actual"
"flying squirrel" species) don't think they could have climbed the walls
of this house very well.

Whatever weather system that's coming in,is starting to make it's
presence known;only a few drops of rain at present time, but the wind
has sure picked up quite a bit.
And Sarah just an FYI ,our storms mainly come in from the southwest,
we very seldom get anything that comes down from the north.

Oops, Looks like we chased another one away. Last I knew "Error" isn't used as a regular screen name.

The rain here has completed the snow and ice removal from our driveway.

I know about those squirrels and other critters. We have them locked out now, exxcept the racoons that like to camp out in the rarely used fireplace chimney. You might ask how they get up to a roof 25 feet in the air. Think the old TV antenna tower. I guess it make a good ladder for an agile racoon. Oh yes, there is a possum that hangs out around here, too.

We had an animal inside our house last month--crawled in under the back room, apparently. I think it died under there; the odor is finally dissipating. Nice subject for the diner--sorry about that! We also had a squirrel in the attic a few years ago (wow--close to ten years ago, amazingly); roof has since been repaired, and gutters came later.

The thunderstorms we were supposed to get today haven't materialized yet, though we did have rain at a very inopportune time--there were some loads of cornmeal that I couldn't control. No damage down below that I was made aware of, thankfully.

Our neighborhood seems to get more than its share of power outages, too--they usually don't last too long. Strange thing is, all of our cables are underground!

Well, the roof repair people came and fixed the roof. It appears a bunch of squirrels were making holes in the roof and dumping their nuts inside! [:(!] Alas, we also found out we have to replace the rain gutters, and that will definitely cost serious money. [:(]

Third-trick, {#welcome] to the Depot Diner and Coffee Shop. You get a free meal
tonight, courtesy of the head cook (me, cherokee woman, or CW, whichever you
want to call me). Mutt and Sarah are just walking in the door; they went down the
street doing a little bit of railfanning.

It can get down right interesting @ times as some of the people who have never driven much on freezy skid stuff , try to drive on roads that have a thin oil film & rubber dust.
Then comes the rain, road gets greasy for about 1/2 hr. until water washes away the goo. Exciting times in Hooterville, white knuckles & other things. Settin' @ the top of the hill watchin' the world slide by. See ya'll later. Cannonball

Josie, I want to apologize to you: I forgot to welcome you to the forums the other
day. So: [#welcome] to the forums and Depot Diner & Coffee Shop, Josie!!
Always glad to have another female on board!! If you can, send me a private
email, o.k?

The supper menu tonight is the other Crock Pot full of pork chop abracadbra w/
carrots and onion (purple onion at that).

For some strange reason, all power all up and down our street went out about
an hour ago. Must have had a transformer blow or something somewhere
close by. All power is now back on (of course, or I wouldn't be posting right now!)

Dessert tonight will be chunks of cantaloupe and strawberries.

The week got off to a beautiful (if cold) start - now there's lots of rain in the forecast. At least that means warmer.

Josie - While I like home-made gravy as much as the next guy, I rarely cook anything that lets me make it. I like the M.......k envelopes - especially the "& herbs" varieties, which have more zest than the straight gravies. Fast and easy, and perfect for meals for one.

How many of the drivers were from Texas? California? Wa-ha-ha. Sorry, couldn't resist! I grew up in Colorado and I know what mudchicken is talkin' about.[(-D]

But seriously, all this talk about biscuits and GRAVY...who makes good gravy (my kids won't eat mine[C=:-)][|(])

I guess I got what I was askin for...it's been raining all day long. The daffodills (sp?) look about a week and a half from blooming!

What's on for supper?

Well, just so you dont feel to bad...it is 85 outside, clear sky, not a cloud to be seen so I plan on fireing up the barbque pit in about an hour, and slow cook/smoke a few slabs of pork ribs, throw in some taters later, maybe some pinto beans in brown sugar and honey...might even give CW's biscuts a try....

Just a little snack till later!

Fog seems to be the problem around here today.

BIG wreck on US 18-151 this morning in the fog, trucker was pulling out of the Ridgeway Truckstop when a car rear-ended the trailer. When everything stopped moving, the wreck involved TWO semis, a loaded tour bus, and a bunch of cars. One person didn't make it, at least two more in the hospital, shut down both sides of the freeway at that location for a few hours, and knocked out power to the truckstop.

Well, I have to go build more UPS trailers, we'll see everyone later.

Josie welcome to the diner [#welcome] you'll find the food in here to be very, very ,very good. Just don't **** off the cook. ehehehehe. Oh and if someone in your household is playing ice hockey with one of your biskits (spelling), than they are more than welcome in my neck of the woods! Ice Hockey is my game / sport and I have played ice hockey for 9 years.

Carl, I think that person's AMG is just as nervous as I am right now. [sigh]

The weather here in Louisville, KY is about 50 something and rainy. I think we are picking up some of that storm that Chicago received, or maybe we are getting some of the storm that they are going to receive a little later on today. Who Knows??
