Quick in and out before church...sunny now, but clouds later today, rain tonight. I'm supposed to be in a CPR class tomorrow, but if the Big Boss doesn't change my status, I'll have to work my regular job instead.

Oh--Sarah, thanks again!

Madam La Mook should have a story or two if she gets the weather it looked like was headed her way this fine Sunday Morning. We're supposed to see it Monday afternoon.

All those red and yellow outlines on the weather map!

Got the pit set up today to cook the chicken next Sunday. Fire lights off around 7, chicken goes on sale at noon. (Actually, the first chicken will be ready long before, but we have some standing deliveries to cover.) We're only cooking 800 halves....

???? Looked out the window this morning and nothing but sun in a clear blue sky. Maybe I am at the Coffee Shop in the alternate universe.

Just coffee now. I'll be back later for the breakfast bar.

"it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, oh won't you be mine oh won't you be mine oh won't you be my neighbor"

lovely weather... mid sixties today, set a record high yesterday of 76 here in Philly... alas, my favorite railfanning spot is flooded with maintence people, so the opportunity is wasted.

All this talk of cooking pizza brings back some memories from grade school... i went to a Catholic grade school, and during the Lenten season you could purchase a pizza kit... dough, sauce, cheese, and toppings of your choice would be provided, and you would put it together and cook it yourself... always was an enjoyable experience for me

I can not remember the last time I was outside with a light jacket and the air felt warm. Today was the day, but it is just a taste. I have known snowstorms in May, so I keep the heavy winter coat close at hand.

Too tired for a full meal but a glass of milk and a piece of homemade pie a la mode would hit the spot.

All right, everyone, Sarah and I have the pizzas all cooked, and out on the warmer
bar. Got all the usual pizzas for the Saturday Pizza Fest. Hope you enjoy
them, and later, we'll pop some popcorn, if anyone would like some popcorn.

Randy;Yes on the UPS "Airline",If it weren't for their national "Air Hub" here
at Louisville International (SDF) there would not be all that many take offs and
landing at all here !!
UPS is one of the largest employers here, along with GE (Appliance Park) and
Ford (two assembly plants)

The NWS radio has still been quite active thusfar today, but instead of severe
weather watches/warnings; it's for Flash Flood Warnings/Watches from all
the very heavy rains.
We do, however still have a very big chance for more of the severe stuff today and
tomorrow;our area has basically only had reasonably minor damage with just
tree limbs and power lines down,I don't believe that we've had any injuries or
fatalities from this last round.

Hi All

Randy [^]

It seems like technology is booming in the cell phone industry. Now they can be used are cameras and record music and play music. Plus they have the TV technology also. Amazing, simply amazing. [;)] Oh sorry, that was John Cleese's commercial for Magnovox lol .

Computers are about the same way. Mine is about 5 years old and poor thing is all it can do to access the internet now. I would love a new computer but their are other things more important than it right now.

Today is about 75 and cloudy right now. Eightys predicted for the next 2 days. The mosquitos are now out also. [:(]

The poor lady who lost her husband in the lightening strike and house fire the other night was in her 80s and so was her husband. He was on oxygen. She had to break a window and climb out. She suffered burns to her hands and feet. And get this, she lost her husband, lost her house, was burned, AND suffered a heart attack in the hospital. Poor lady.

I see this weather system continues to be a bid deal for the eastern US. Randy is getting it now. [:0] They are telling us another system will be here Monday and could also be a big, bad system. [:(]

Morning everyone......

Looks like it's going to get really busy at work the next few months, we were told in a meeting this week to expect another huge order of trailers from UPS. Apparently, they're hiring another 700 or so drivers in the next year to handle business, and they just bought another smaller trucking company. Never knew that UPS was the third largest airline in the country (and probably the only one that will not need a gov't bailout). They told us it will be a significant order, we were figuring at least over 1,000 units, maybe much more than that.

I think spring has sprung a week or so early, forcast is for around 60 today, with rain and storms moving in later this afternoon. Was listening to weatherband last night on the way home, sounds like the first severe weather of the season around here could be today, said spotter activation may be needed today. Might be a good day to go play in the mud, with the ground being waterlogged from the snowmelt and recent rains.

Will be in later, need to go get my cell phone updated, apparently, I need to upgrade to the latest in wireless/GPS technology, or pay more on my cell phone bill. And I just got used to this one (after three years!)!

Good rainy Saturday morning. Woke up this morning to the NWS radio going
off with Thunderstorm watch/warning. Going to be a rainy weekend here, as
Sarah said last night.

Breakfast brunch today: your choice of doughnuts, coffee, tea, juice, turkey
bacon, sausage, biscuits & sausage gravy, hash browns, scrambled eggs
and toast are laid out on the warmer breakfast bar. Hope no one around here
gets flooded with all this rain!

Union Tank often makes cars for other companies, Sarah. In fact General American, which used to be a big competitor to Union Tank, now has several series of new cars built by them, acquired directly from them.

Can't see straight after working last night. Is that you behind the counter, Cher? I'll just have a bowl of Fruit Harvest, please, before I drop off to bed.

Carl,
I think I got the UTLX Louisville Code down now. I had to read it over more than once but, I got it down. What is really interesting is the fact that those UTLX cars had DBUX numbers at one point before they switched over to UTLX numbers..hum.interesting...I've never heard of that ever. I would expect that, since UTLX manufactured those cars, the cars should come out of the factory marked with UTLX numbers before being marked with DBUX numbers. Weird.
Oh and yes this hobby is fun................tons. lol I think I've been hanging around you too long lol, because now you have me doing freight car work! hehehehehe

Well, it's going to be another rainy one here in Louisville, later on today into the next week. CW, Mutt, and I will have to keep the diner updated. Other than this..hum.darn I don't have anything else to say tonight. I must be getting tired.

You mean I'm gonna have butterflies in my stomach?

Kind of like when I met Sarah for the first time.

Got my fresh air and fresh burger this noon, so I should ret well before work tonight--especially with a good supper! The weather's still clear, but there's a strong breeze (we bikers can detect such things!), and a promise of rain tonight.

I remember about Mutt and the hot sauce. If I had him and the son-in-law both up here we could drastically reduce our heating bill.

Congratulations, Junc, on the presidency--you mean they haven't asked you to mediate for this strike yet?

Josie, hope you found your fries w/cheese. Did anyone notice the cheese in
the scrambled eggs this morning? Just thought I'd add a little something to
the scrambled eggs this morning, other than the prerequisite hot sauce for
the Mutt.

It's only in the low 50s outside, and quite breezy. Definitely need a jacket on
outside today. When I took a walk around the block earlier, the sun was
shining. Now it's just overcast.

Mookie, make sure you get enough rest this weekend. Hope you'll be feeling
"up to par" next week.

As you all know, with it being Friday, I'm starting to prepare the fish for tonight's
fish fry. Also will be fixing butterfly shrimp.

[:)] Hey Mookie, can we call you the bird whisperer?? You certainly know how they work.

Hope you feel better. I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what'll help you get better, but it sounds like you're doing all the right things...except maybe one. Got any laugh-out-loud movies??? Remember, a merry heart doeth good like medicine. LOL is always part of my getting better. [(-D]

Ah, the pressures of being the president have already fallen upon Andrew's shoulders.

Hey, CW could you make me some fries...with cheese? [dinner] That just sounds soooo good about now.

CW, can I get a tuna melt with fries to go? Can't take too long a lunch break; things are picking up at work with people following Carl's example and having their bikes made ready for spring and summer riding.

Thankyou very much-right now the colleges are on strike so I have to play it cool and wait for both sides to finnish. I heard though that if it goes on for more than 6 weeks, the semester will be repeated and the students will have to pay for it again. I am not going to allow that to happen without a serious, serious fight though. Right now I am waiting to see if that is correct and waiting for an indication that the strike will last that long.

Mookie, Hope you get better soon. Sucks to be sick!!!

Larry, what you said about hay rolls being blown reminds me of this storm that blew a bunch of wheel lines accross highway 139 on the Oregon border. The highway was blocked while several ranches in the area dissasembled the offending lines and moved them. It was comical watching them do this only to have the wind blow them back onto the road. Finaly they wised up and moved them to the downwind side of the highway.

For those that don't know, wheel lines are irrigation pipes that have big wheels so they can be moved. They are usually a 1/4 - 1/2 mile long.

Ahem - re: birds - of which I know nothing about, but will play an authority in the diner:

Male birds, during mating season, will fly into windows or anything reflective because they see it as a threat to their territory.

I didn't say they were terribly bright, just territorial.

Back to the hammock with tissue, cof syrup and those wonderful put-you-to-sleep-dry-your-nose-up-so-bad-it-hurts!

Congrats Andrew!

Ah, yes. Forgot to congratulate the new president. Kev - read up on the sword of Damocles....

Mother Nature toying with us here today. Still pretty windy, but the sun was out in all its glory earlier, then I got soaked on one side just before lunch, walking up the sidewalk to our building.... Should be an interesting day....

Jim - when we experienced our derecho (microburst) back in '95, the damage was quite spotty, although the complete damage track ran from the St Lawrence River all the way into the Adirondacks. Modular houses were blown off their foundations, round bales were rolled along, trees uprooted, but just a few yards away, it was just a big light show (very noisy thunderstorm!).

Hi gang, All I can say is TGIF. It's been a crazy week.

May I send my condolences on your loss CW & Walt.

Congrats on your campain victory Junctionfan.

Josie, When I lived in Washington I had a neighbor that had a bird that was obsessed with flying into his large upstairs window. It would fly full bore into it repeatedly till it knocked itself out. Then after a while it would do it again. This would go on all day long. Day after day the "comakazi bird" would return for a couple of weeks. Finaly it dissapeared and never returned, might have been eaten by the cat, who knows. It was so bizzare you had to see it to belive it. It's even more bizzare that a bird would step in its own s*** and track it onto a window. I guess amimals can have mental problems too.
