Good Tuesday morning to one and all!! Hope everyone is feeling better today.
Our local temp was about 34, 35 when I awoke at 5, and is now about 30,31
degrees. Supposed to make it to 54 today.

Breakfast this morning: bowls of cereal w/strawberries and cinnamon swirl
bread that's been toasted. Or, you can have the regular breakfast of sausage,
biscuits, gravy, scrambled eggs. If you wish, you can substitute turkey bacon
for the sausage. Everything's laid out on the breakfast warmer bar.

Good enough for me! [:D]

Alas, bad news: my house appears to have a termite invasion. [:0] We've having someone from Clark Pest Control (the local pest control company) come out and see what can be done to get rid of this problem.

How'd I miss those key lime bars?

After work we made a quick run to LaGrange. In less than a half hour we saw five trains--two coal-related, one intermodal, a dinky, and an Amtrak. One of the coal trains had some brand-new aluminum hoppers. I was trying to confirm build date and plant of manufacture (could have been either Danville or Roanoke--builder was Freight Car America), but when I was close enough to read the tiny print it was moving too fast by me!

Have taken all the necessary precautions in food prep. Although I think what's
going around now is airborn, with the fluctuating temps all over.

Supper tonight will be beef pasta w/mushrooms in it. Actually pretty tasty.

Making some key lime bars for dessert.

Hey Hey Hey

Yesterday was the big Marathon in Little Rock, with 6,000 runners in the race. [:0] I didn't get anywhere near the area where the race was held. The rain they had been predicing for late in the week was almost nill.

Today is about 65 now and headed for the low 70s. The ants are out along with tons of bees and wasps. In another week or so I will have to mow already.

Over the last few days I saw an interesting engine. An ex Amtrak GP9u was here. [:0] It was originally a Wabash engine. I think Zach got some photos of it when it was in his area.

Well got to go, today is Friday and I do have to work. [:(]

The beef stew and cornbread sounds good.... Reminds me of a visit to a Georgia fire station - got invited for lunch, which included - cornbread, properly prepared in a cast iron pan...

And do a frequent virus scan?

Yup, I am the sicky of the week. Fairly light appointment schedule. Need rest.

Joe - thank you so much - I really need a big box.

Tom - congratulations! I am a little partial to girls myself!

Glad everyone is back in their places - it is easier to take attendence. I will have to spend the week reading and catching up. Just no strength to do it right now.

Did I read that Jay is/has been sick, too? Hope he is ok. Whatever this is, it is nasty!

Good morning, all! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. Also hope our
resident kitty cat is feeling better this morning.

Breakfast this morning will be sausage, biscuits, gravy, and fried taters. Or,
you can have cereal w/strawberries. Sarah & I went to the store yesterday
afternoon and got some Frosted Flakes and Honey Bunches of Oats.

Not entirely - While it's no comparison to the Alleghanies, or even the hills of SE Michigan (I was so glad to get home while in the AF and actually see some!), I recall a long grade headed southbound into Rantoul, and there's a town between Rantoul and Kankakee where the rails are actually about 20 feet below ground level...

But you're right about the snowboarding thing, although if you could find somebody with a ski rope and an ATV, you could probably have some fun!

No time for Oscar tonight. Have a backlog of freight-car research now.

Sarah, could I entice you up this way by saying that we have a couple of inches of snow on the ground now? It's been falling all day. Better hurry, though--it'll be gone by midweek.

Supper tonight will have a Mexican flavor to it: tacos, enchiladas, etc. Figure there
might be some who are interested in watching who gets oscars tonight. With
this menu, you can fix what you want, and not worry about a big meal to take you
away from watching all the pretty actresses and good looking actors get their
awards.

Congratulations to Tom and Family.

Does Mookie have a bad cold? If so the virus must have traveled through the Internet to get to me. I guess I need to upgrade my security package.

Nice photo of the traveling DD&CS crew. Maybe the folks at the Hard Rock Cafe would give us a license to set up one of our dining rooms just like theirs.

Back to the recovery room for more sleep.

Joe thank you for getting the coffee and juice ready.

Mutt, thank you for putting out the breakfast of pancakes, sausage, and
scrambled eggs. I just made some biscuits and sausage gravy and am
putting that out on the warmer bar now.

TOM: Congratulations to you and wife on your baby girl!! Might be a
good idea for the two of you to "nap" whenever she's sleeping. That will
be one way to not become zombies.
