Well Carl, even though you all were here for a reasonably short time,I think you could have passed for a native Louisvillian, especially in the driving department.
(Sarah says "chirping tires", indeed !!!![:D]) I think you fit in with the rest of the ones that live here, and have to do things like you did,to survive !![:O]

We would like to thank you two for being here, and hauling us around to the various places. WE really did get lucky, and see several interesting things while we were out. A GREAT time was had by all !! Goodness - skip out for the day and look at what I missed!

Tom - Congrats, especially to mom! Hope you have plenty of extra sleep saved up!

Apparently local law enforcement didn't have a problem with a big herd of railfans out in the Ohio valley watching trains - nothing on CNN today about it! That is a pretty motley looking crew! At least you saw trains - I heard the crews and DS talking, but don't think I'd have caught the ones I heard during the day, and didn't feel like waiting for the northbound to finish his drops at the local year.

First things first...congratulations, Tom!

Next, thanks again, Mutt and Cher, for being such great guides. My apologies for all of that cold air we pushed down ahead of us.

I felt very much at home in Loovul, folks--the last couple of times we ventured from our hotel I didn't even bother with maps. When Pat starts being able to recognize things and figure out where we have to be, that's scary! MC, we didn't get up to Corydon to see the neat-sounding stuff. As Mutt said, we found a crack in the floodwall in New Albany that enabled us to get pretty close to the sideways barge against the K&IT bridge.

It was great to meet Walt (again), Paula, and Brian (LouisNash) on this trip. And to see my dear friend Sarah again. Jen, sorry you've been under the weather--all hugs were delivered per your request. We ate very well in the Land of the Depot Diner--probably too well! And Sarah, the Hard Rock Cafe was a great idea--Ellen says she's proud of us for going along with it. (As for the chips, I'd reciprocate, but I don't think Jay's makes salt and vinegar chips. Yours are pretty good!)

Coming home, we actually found a coal mine south of Danville, and stopped to check out a string of gons therein. At Danville itself, we saw two groups of brand-new aluminum gons at Freight Car America. The NS's ex-Wabash main line was extremely busy as well: two westbounds went by one right after the other (merger rumor: both had UP power in their consists), and we saw an eastbound Roadrailer train a few minutes later. A southbound CP train was waiting on CSX's tracks for the whole parade to clear.
I was also amazed to see a TP&W train, near Crescent City.

Time to get to the freight-car research, before I crash completely.

HI everyone and happy weekend how are we all doin today fine and dandy. Well I did work today but it was fun cause got to have some fun with the two way radio on all of the buses. But anywho winter is coning back to wisconsin tomorrow we are suppose to get like 4 inches of snow which. I really don't like cause I really want spring to come but then again I would really rather deal with rain then snow. Cause then I can go spalishing though puddles which is always a fun thing to do. Oh well that's really bout it from this end hope everyone has a good night and I will be talkin to you all later.

Tom, congratulations!!!! [:D] And God Bless!!

Jim, yes the "Crew" had a very good time yesterday. There were very many highlights yesterday, I would say one of the best highlight for me was getting up close shots of the barge that crahsed into the supports of the K&IT Bridge over the Ohio. I also got to see a manifest go over my first ever lift span bridge, that used to belong to the PRR.

Oh and CW the Hard Rock Cafe was my idea. hehehehehe [:D]

Late Mornin' All

This is Wednesday for me and already I am sooo tired. [:(]

It sounds like the Mothly Crew is having a good time. [^]

I hope that today isn't too busy. I need a cup of motivation, joe just isn't helping so far. [B)] I was reading yesterday that an apple actually was better for "waking up" than coffee. [:0] I never thought of an apple for breakfast, grapefruit yes, apple no. [B)]

Well we had a night back down into the low 40s last night and the night before. The days are pleasant with some wind, but still nice. We are at 52 right now with 61 predicted as a high.

I hope they get those fires out. The one in Oklahoma (out--yes or no) has been destroying houses. They claim it was arson. There is nothing good I can say about whoever started it. There is no punishment fitting for the crime when multiple families loose everything they own. Accidents are one thing, arson is unthinkable. I have not heard if any deaths have occured because of the fire. I hope no animals were lost either. My Duchess may be stubborn and onary but she is still my "kid".

We just had an animal crualty case here in Arkansas. They found at least 5 or 6 dogs wayyyyy undernourished. They said it would take at least 6 months before some of them would be healthy enough to adopt. They showed several of them on the news. One was so happy that someone was actually giving it loving that it was wagging its tail to beat 60. People who would mistreat animals would also mistreat people. The crime should be the same in my book. If you can not care for an animal you should not have any.

OK, I guess I will step off the soapbox and find something to do before I go to work.

Everyone Take Care.

Good morning, all! Joe, what do you mean "diners most wanted"?[:O][%-)] Do I
need to "turn myself in"? If so, who do I report to?

Thank you Joe, for starting the coffee, making the juice, and starting the
pancakes for breakfast. To help you out, I've got the bacon and sausage on
frying.

We had a very, very great time yesterday with Brian, Carl, Pat, and Sarah. Just wish Brian
could have gone railfanning with us, but he had to get back to work. We all had
a great time yesterday.

It was very interesting to see a big, loooonnng train coming across the old Pennsy
Bridge. (lift) Also saw a train coming over the K&I Bridge, which had an SW unit
dead-in-tow. (This unit is a subject of another forum thread: the one with stripes.)

We even went for supper at the Hard Rock Cafe. Can you imagine all five of
us at the Hard Rock Cafe? Especially four of us middle aged people!! We were
seated right under the Elvis memoralbia.

Well all, this is one of the reasons CW, Sarah, and I haven't been on the forum today.
We've been entertaining several very, very great people !!!! Gotten to see quite a
few things around our local area, including trains across railroad bridges here,
plus very close hand at the barge that's still stuck against the K. & I. T. bridge.

Will attach a picture of the "Motley Crew";Pat,Carl,Paula,Sarah & Brian;
'mutt's not in picture,as self timer and tripod were being very obstinate
this morning,so he had to take it !![:D][:(]

Afternoon everyone, I think......

It's been a weird week for me at work, started off really slow with maybe ten units done one day, and finished off with a grueling marathon session last night, we stayed late to avoid going in today, and we busted our tails.

Remember the saying 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'? Maintenance worked on one of our tire machines last night, and now it's broken. Lost some of the functions, then the control switch started getting sticky. Got so ticked off I switched over to the other machine for the rest of the night.

Not too much else going on around here, going to get a few errands done today, then out tonight to play poker with the local free tournament, see how well we do tonight.

I'll be over in the corner for a while, sipping on some soda, petting the cat..... Hey, where'd the cat go? Oh well.

Does Mooks have her marshmallows and hot dogs ready? Colorado is sending a Nebraska a 23,000+ acre range fire near Wray unless we can find a way to put it out. (They thought they had it stopped yesterday, but....)

CW - I can identify with that sleep thing - wake up, can't fall back asleep.

Grabbed oatmeal before I left the house, but will take more of that cantaloupe...

Windy here today, per the forecast. No snow, though. As cold as it's been, we've still got most of our recent crop. The drifting is the problem, especially on some roads. Only takes a couple inches of that blown stuff to pick you right up and set you in the ditch. Almost made that trip the other day myself.

Good Friday morning, folks! Sorry about getting in so late. Woke up at 3, went
back to sleep a little after 5. I've got breakfast going now: turkey bacon, sausage,
biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs; or there's oatmeal & toast and cantaloupe.
