Hmm... Awfully quiet in here this evening!
Today was balmy compared to the last few days. We made it all the way to 55 degrees.
As for chocolate, I'll take any kind of chocolate, Hershey or otherwise.

Joe and Randy, I've ordered chocolate from BOTH places, so don't worry about it! We will start decorating for the special ocassions coming up, both in a couple of days, one day (at least) next week, and someone else on New Year's Eve. We'll be soing b________ decorations, along with putting up the Christmas decorations tomorrow, Wednesday night. So I'll be needing several good souls to help, please!!
Now, since we had sandwiches for lunch today, tonight's supper specials will be: what's left of the beef stew and I'll make fresh cornbread, and the chili. There will also be grilled cheese sandwiches to have with the chili.
Desserts tonight: apple pie, blueberry pie, pecan pie and chocolate meringue pie.

The air conditioner is working overtime today But really, I have a nice sun room that on a day like today, the room temp would easily get above 80 degrees if I did not have the blinds closed.
I think I'll pass on the chocolate. I'll have PB&J for lunch though.
Hershey's is alright, if you like a little chocolate with your paraffin.

....something about an Amtrak derailment in CA in 1990 where Amthrax hit a tank truck full of Hershey's syrup at a private crossing not that far from Fresno. About the third day, the syrup had totally spoiled and we were still walking around in it and the dreaded blue amcrap from the lavatories...

I'll snag some hot breakfast...then hide by the fireplace. It's a balmy 7 degrees plus a wind of 20mph today. BRRR! Days like today make me love my lifeguarding job: it's 83 degrees at the YMCA pool!
Yay! First post on p. 882!

Joe; CW had a call about that yesterday; they said it would be in early tomorrow,
so we can start getting ready tomorrow evening.

Dan, you can leave the kitty's milk, and the chocolate with me, on the counter. I'll take very good care of it, until the kitty gets in here! It'll be safe, with me (well, maybe a little bit of chocolate may disappear
Coffee is brewing, hot chocolate and hot tea are ready, and on the warmer bar, you will find: turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade biscuits & sausage gravy, some nice warm bagels, and hash browns. OH!! Almost forgot: the juice is freshly squeezed and ready, also.
Everyone have a great day, and I'll be back when I finish with the Produce Tuesday crowd.
OK, I'm back. Spent today running some errands and recovering from the "Polar Express." Dealing with the nearly 800 riders wasn't bad (although I only worked half the train, so saw about half of them), but I've lost my "sea legs," so by the end of Sunday night, the ol' legs were suffering. Walking up and down a rocking train is more tiring than one would expect....
But the whole operation runs like a well oiled clock - this may be my first year, but the RR has been at the PE thing for several years now.
Since I'm dressed in a vest & tie, plus a RR hat (the conductor's-style hat will be a Christmas gift), I'm a "conductor" to most of the patrons, and will be featured in a lot of scrap books.....
Sunday several of us got together to fix up some of the decorations at the station, plus enjoy the parade of trains CSX and Amtrak provided. A 100+ car freight blowing by at 60 or so is impressive.
Believe it or not, the shortest train we saw was about 5 auto racks behind one unit. We have no idea what that was about. There were cars in the racks...
Being a glutton for punishment, I'll be back down there next weekend... And the following Saturday as well - the last runs of the season.

Good evening folks!
I find it hard to believe that it is only two weeks until Christmas vacation. Where does the time go?
This weather here in Omaha is just totally depressing. Not a flake of snow since late October and the next two weeks look mild and snow free. This just isn't how winter is supposed to be! On the other hand, I suppose everyone in Missouri and Illinois never want to see a flake of snow again in their lives.
I hope everyone has a good week and Mookie, I hope you are feeling better soon!
For those of you on the east coast, I've got another round of beef stew, cornbread, and the two pots of chili (medium & hot) are now ready for your eating enjoyment. For those on the west coast, there will be plenty for you all to enjoy in 1 1/2 to 2 hours from now (ET).

Another beautiful day here in sunny San Jose. Supposed to have showers by the end of the week though.
Mookie - I posted a link on the Humor thread just for you (a cat-lover's guide to Christmas trees).

In the meantime, the snow and the first real cold snap was causing the usual havoc.
warm then a cold snap= bugs and sneezes coming around.will take some quick breakfast then off to bed for me busy busy at work again.
Good Monday morning to one and all! Ray, thanks for getting the coffee on, making the juice, and the hot chocolate. Breakfast is just about ready (or will be when my hands thaw out!) Our temp is 17 this morning.
Mookie, I've got your broth ready for you, and it's right by your hammock.
Breakfast is now just about ready: turkey bacon, sausage, oatmeal, toast, biscuits, sausage gravy, fried taters, scrambled eggs, bagels, and western omelettes are on the warmer bar.
Everyone have a great day, stay safe, and DO NOT DISTURB THE CAT!!
<~> - gotta da croup again! PND down the back and into the lungs. I have coffed so much my fur hurts! Was going to stay home and be miserable, but since I am not really sick or contagious, decided to come in and let everyone make me miserable here.
Went to James Bond movie this weekend - They do this young man a disservice to call him James Bond. JB was a tuxedo wearing, martini-sipping bon vivant. This young man is more a Steve McQueen - and they should market him that way. Very good movie - little loud, but the Driver & I sit with kleenex in our ears to muffle some of the noise. (geez it's great to get old!)
I enjoyed the movie and the cough drop. (Gag) We see very few movies (at $12 for a matinee for two!) But it was fun and I would recommend it - especially if you enjoy McQueen type movies.
Mutt - our campus has a railroad, just not through it. It skirts the outer edges of the campus and you can hear the whistles all day long - just not see the good stuff. They had to build an overpass (quite convoluted) to cross the tracks and make it safer for the campus citizens that park out in the boonies or live near the tracks.
The SP units are plentiful in North Platte - saw a great many of them when we were there.
CW - may I have some roadrunner broth for my cof? Don't think da chicken will do the trick. Need some pep and energy!
Going to the hammock....put out my do not 'sturb sign. (Don't need to worry - the way I am coffing, no one will 'sturb!")
Good morning! It looks like I'm the first one in the Diner this morning, so I've got the coffee brewing, the orange juice is ready to pour and the hot chocolate is out on the counter.
It's a bit cool here in Sioux Falls, at last report we had a temperature of 29 degrees. It is supposed to drop almost in half within the next hour. Our maximum temperature this afternoon will max out at 27 degrees. With the wind chill, right now it feels like we have an actual temp of -3. It may be a bit colder than this in other parts of the country. I'll be dressing in several layers when I get ready for another day of bell ringing for the Salvation Army.

This is the SP unit I mentioned in my last post. (not a great picture.)
(was very overcast and doing a light drizzle that day.
Which is getting there first?! Not very far from the yard and not far from the aiport!
