I see you have a new avatar, Brian!

Congratulations on the successful capture, and glad to have been able to help this time.

Latest report had the train through Nelson about an hour ago.  I'll keep you informed, just in case, Brian.

By the way, where did Belvidere come from?  Those trains don't go through there; it's on a branch out of West Chicago.

Oops, wrong town on the mind.  I meant De Kalb.

Lasagna sure is good after a GREAT catch with the camera.  Check out the CNW Heritage Thread.  Kudos to Carl for his heads-up.

CW, glad you had fun at the gym with Sarah. I think I'd be a little scared of going to the gym with her. I've read the list of sports she participates in. I don't think I'd make it trying to keep up!

Speaking of excercise, going to try to push up the bike range tonight to somewhere between 35 and 40 miles. Best part is that the route I have planned will take me out somewhat along the Moffat sub in Arvada, and bring me back along the Coors Branch on the way back in. Starting to get there (though I'm not sure I'll manage 3000 miles in a year like Carl...unfortunately I don't have his dedication).

Is it me, or does there seem to be a lot of animosity on the new forum? I'm not completely innocent, but I do try to keep my temper down, and avoid flame wars as much as possible. There are a couple threads going that I forsee getting locked and the key being thrown away very soon. Must be something with the heat. We might have to add another container for Gatorade to cool some folks down (though I did notice Larry brought out the fire hose on a couple threads...that'll probably have a good effect, too).

Well, I'm going to go get changed, and hit the trail. Hope you all have a good evening!

TTFN!

Got more meat loaf, mashed taters, etc. for supper, along with lasagna, garlic bread and
garden salad.  For dessert, we've got Jell-O with homemade oatmeal-raisin cookies.

Had a very good afternoon.  Sarah and I went to the YMCA, and worked out.  For me,
it was the first time I've been to the Y.  Really enjoyed myself, and Sarah is a very good
trainer, to have when it's your first time in a gym.  Know I will probably be very sore in
the morning, but it will be worth it.

Well, it's almost lunch time for just about everybody (except for those in the far west).  So today's lunch
menu will be:  meat loaf, mashed taters w/gravy, green beans and garden salad.

Our weather here is pretty nice today.  Our projected high will be about 85, 87, and the humidity is still
in the low category.  So that will be pretty good.

Hope everyone enjoys their lunch.  Does anyone have any suggestions for supper tonight?

Pat and I will take a walk out this morning a little after 9:00, and will hope to catch the trio in Lombard.  Don't know about photo-ops; the sunlight angle won't be helpful.  No chases, obviously.

I bet I got there too late Thursday then, which doesn't surprise me.  It would seem that, given the info I had, Belvidere to CR shouldn't have taken more than four hours.  If it's already clearing Rochelle as of this post, there's no way I can catch it today without going AWOL here.  Next opportunity I get will probably be later in the week.

I'm kind of slow and non-functioning this morning, too--if you don't count the 1.5 mile walk we made and the half of the lawn (so far) that's been mowed.

SJ, our walk may have yielded a couple of good shots.  None of them were taken by me, however.  My phone had a major malfunction in the nut behind the shutter release.  Pat, however, claims that she got all three units.  Her camera, however, is one of those antiques that requires film, so it may take a while before we see the results.

The train, meanwhile, is about ten minutes away from the webcam as this is being written.

Sounds like time to hunker down with another cup of tea and wait 'til thing improve...

Actually, things are running pretty good from my point of view.

Most of the serious server farms are on backup power, anyhow.  Some make their own power all of the time.

A word of warning to everyone here: much of the Internet is quite slow and non-functional this morning. It appears that a number of servers in the New York City area and in California are down due to power issues, so you may have trouble logging into some sites. Sad [:(]

Good morning everyone! It's actually much cooler this morning for a change--the nearest weather station to my house (according to Weather Underground web page) is some 10 degrees F. cooler than yesterday morning. Cool [8D] Hopefully, this will be a start of a decent cooling trend! Thumbs Up [tup]

Yessss - I am here to wreak havoc, cause mayhem and maybe take a nap!

Poor Duchess was sick?  Why wasn't I called.  Mookie MD!

This summer has been hard on our family pets - Big Muddy's Adorable Andy and now Delightful Duchess!  Of course, Mad Mookie has been just fine!  Dr sez she is good for another year of naps and mischief.

Poker?  Oh Randy - a favorite of mine, but I lose too well.  I love to play, but never get a hand worth a darn to play!  Haven't learned to bluff well enough.  Maybe I just don't have a "poker face".  I smile at all the wrong times!

BC - you are seeing some interesting sights - we are just seeing mostly the usual - but I have noticed they have pulled a lot of the 9's and are running more of the brandess-newess engines on the coal trains and a lot of older engines on the freight.  The 9's seem to be resting off somewhere else.  Have seen a whole batch of new numbers that we hadn't seen before!

Gas prices up and temp will be too this week. Property Taxes jumped a lot and prices are up on everything including food.  Wages stayed the same or went lower.

This has been your fence-street reporterette....

Heading for the hammock, pushing a cup of coffee!

Mornin'  All

I have the coffee and juice ready.  I think I will throw together some nice large cinnamon rolls with icing.  Smile [:)]

Well I am off to Missouri in another hour or two.  Since Duchess was sick half the week I am going to steam clean the carpet BEFORE I go.  She is back to her normal self now so I can clean them.

Everyone Take Care

Evening all......

Well, I finally did it tonight.  For the first time since I started playing in 2005 I finally won a Badger Poker tournament.  I beat a field of 70, and we played heads up for almost an hour and 45 minutes.  Last hand was my (kh, 3s) versus a (6h, 7h), I managed to get a bigger heart flush on the fourth card.  I'm very pleased with myself for this effort.

Still a little warm here, but will probably have to turn the AC on come morning, highs tomorrow are supposed to be in the upper 80s, with a return in the humidity.  Hope it gets nicer on Wednesday, I'm going home to the parents and will be down at the Racine County Fair most of the time.

Thanks for the dinner, CW, and see everyone later.

Figures.  I'm stuck back at work.  Hey Carl, check my most recent picture additions from Thursday evening and see if you recognize any of the westbounds (coming towards me on the Cedar River bridge).  Would they have been ahead of MCPBR or behind it?  Could they have passed it or been passed by it?  Trying to gauge when to expect 1995 on my next opportunity.

Joe, thanks for calling back after I saw UP 8460.  As soon as we hung up, the 8460's hopper train took off like a bat out of Proviso.  He was keeping pace with the stack train that got out a little bit ahead of him.

Caught the tail end of MCPBR arriving at the yard.  Of course, it was the head end that was more interesting.  I suspect the UP 1995 will be headed west again tomorrow morning.

Well, Pat, I mentioned several posts above that Sunday Dinner would be:

roast, taters, carrots, green beans, w/Mississippi Mud cake and Mississippi Mud pie.

The roast, taters, carrots, and green beans are on the warmer bar, and the cake and
pie are in the dessert cooler.
