O What do you think?  One Green and One Brown now.  I don't think he understood what I wanted, so ....

And he made kind of a strange comment.  He shined his light in my eyes and ask his nurse if the light showed out the back of my head.  She said she could see it very clearly.  Hmmmm.......

Dish of kibbles and I am going to go ponder this in the corner.  Actually, I am going to sulk and have a solo pity party, so Disapprove [V]

Good Friday morning, everyone!  We finally got one shower
around 6:30, 7:00 last night:  just enough of a shower to
make the water really flow on the streets.  Only lasted for
about 10-15 minutes.  Supposed to have a better chance of
rain later on, probably sometime this afternoon, evening.

Coffee is made, and I've got fresh juice, tea, and lemonade
made for the day.

Breakfast this morning:  your choice of doughnuts & danish,
or bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy, biscuits
and fried taters (ran out of hash browns).

Hope everyone has a great day, and enjoy your breakfast.

We took Chipotle stuff trackside at Elmhurst tonight.  Missed UP 1995 (which was the target), but saw a couple of other freights and scoots in the time it took us to eat.

There were tornado warnings to our south and east, and the clouds were spectacular.  Lombard got a couple of drops.  Elmhurst had a harder rain before we got there, but nothing while we were eating, thankfully.  We could still get some nasty stuff tonight, which will make it a very steamy day tomorrow.  It was "close" today as well--skyline of the city appeared to have been cut off at about 800 feet or so in height, and was barely visible from our 14-mile distance.

Ummmmmm.......................nothing else to say.Evil [}:)]

It was Julie-Louise Dreyfus, or something like that (from the Seinfeld show).  I never watched the show, so I wouldn't have recognized her, either.

Well, it's just about supper time.  On the menu tonight:

got Chinese stir fry, and cantaloupe and pineapple.

For dessert tonight, you have your choice of the following
ice cream:  chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, fudge ripple,
chocolate/peanut butter, butter pecan.

Remember this morning, when I said it looked like it was
going to start raining?  Well, we're still waiting for it
to begin.  Sun came out, and our high is now at 91, 92, w/
a heat index in middle 90s; with very little breeze.

Sarah and I watched a very interesting program on History
International
about the steam era.  Wish I had thought to
put a tape in the VCR.  That would have been a good one to
have on tape.  It was on from 4 to 5 p.m. EDT.

Everyone enjoy your supper tonight, and I'll talk with you
all later.

No Prob, Carl... it was probably my bad. At least I got to explore light angles in a couple spots for sunrise. Depending where I catch it, I should have a couple angles worked out. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Of course, with temps rising in Denver, and me waking up bright and early again, we might need two IV lines for Coloradoans. MC can have his usual Gatorade drip, and I'll just start pushing the Espresso via IV rather than drinking all those double shots. Of course, we might start scaring the other patrons...

BTW, did your daughter ever find out who she served? Or was she just told it was someone famous? Considering my lack of pop culture knowledge, that's something I'm certain I could excel at (not knowing celebs. when I met them). I met Rail Photog./ Author Brian Solomon once at the B&SV in Iowa. Didn't even know who he was until he handed me a Pentrex biz card.

Drove down to the south side of the Springs looking for her, and then followed the Springs Sub all the way back into Denver, and managed to bounce around quite a bit between Monument and Larkspur where I thought she was hiding.

Alas! She proved to be too much for this seeker.

Sorry, Chris, if I misled you with bad information on the 1989 for last night.  Leaves Pueblo tonight; tomorrow morning it's supposed to be at North Yard.

Daughter No. 2, who never touched coffee of any sort, had to become an expert once joining the crew at her local Starbucks (near the old SP Coast Line in California).  Poor kid--served a coffee of some sort to a celebrity, and didn't even recognize her!  Had to be told by other envious staffers.

Got hit by a couple of big drops before getting home.  We need many, many more.

Well, the milkshake machine was one of those burger joint types, but in the interest of pleasing everybody, we'll add an old fashioned shake mixer, along with all of the flavorings, and, of course, some "hard" ice cream.  There's always milk in the cooler...

A co-worker has proven that bears can read.  The other day, on the way to work, he narrowly missed a deer, and moments later saw a bear coming through the woods toward the road, likety-split.  He tried to avoid a collision, but the bear ran headlong into the drivers side passenger door, then shook it off and took off back into the woods on the other side as though nothing had happened.  There is a small dent in the door as a result.

You ask - "How does that prove a bear can read?"

My co-worker is trying to sell the car - it's tired, to say the least.  Part of his effort (I have no idea why, except that it's true) involved spray painting on the sides of the car with "DEMO DERBY CAR."  Like I said, bears can read....

....Guess I should report on what central Indiana is like today, etc....We finally got a bit of rain overnight...but not much...  .2" , 77.4 temp now and high humidity.  Feels much better inside.

Stopped by the Trail Head...{ex CSX depot}, and parallel to NS  RR yesterday about the time Triple Crown is due through south, but after about an hour of browsing around I gave up....Hope it didn't derail someplace north of here that I didn't see it make it through in that hour....

The Trail Head depot had perhaps 10 by 40 ft. space of masonary blocks with RR logos embossed on their surface right beside the ex RR ROW....now they were taking them out and putting "pavers" in that space yesterday...??  Don't know what that was all about...Those RR "blocks" sure did look nice...They even had the proper color to the Logos....I'll have to try and find out why they were removed and what will happen to them now.  There is a railroad theme inside the "depot" honoring the fact it was a railroad depot and the history of RR activity in Muncie.

I have a switchmen's lantern on display inside....along with artifacts others provided.  Nice appropriate mementos.

Morning All,

Not sure how many of you are gourmet coffee drinkers, but I brought in a bunch of cappucinos, espressos, mochas, lates, and such. Help yourself while I proceed to down three double shots of espresso.

Why all the caffeine? Well, I've been up playing hide and seek with 1989 since 2 A.M. And unfortunately, it's a much better hider than I am a seeker. Drove down to the south side of the Springs looking for her, and then followed the Springs Sub all the way back into Denver, and managed to bounce around quite a bit between Monument and Larkspur where I thought she was hiding.

Alas! She proved to be too much for this seeker. Oh well, we had some leftover storms from last night's monsoonal pattern, and I only would have had about 5 minutes of good light to catch her anyways (but oh what a five minutes!). If I had been thinking, I would've got a shot of a southbound manifest at Palmer Lake at sunrise. Not only was there a lot of delicious red light around, there was still some random bits of cloud-to-cloud lightning. I think I could have had a great shot if I had settled for the bird in the hand. Oh well.

Anyways, I'm off to attempt to <yawn> work now. Hope you all have a great day!

TTFN!

<grabs another double espresso on the way out>

Good Thursday morning, everyone!  Well, the rain is supposed
to be coming our way.  Nothing yet, but looks like it could
start just about any time.

Coffee is ready, and fresh orange/tangerine juice, iced tea,
and lemonade are in the fridge.

Breakfast this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, gravy, bis-
cuits, hash browns.

Everyone take care, and I hope you all have a great day!

A cheeseburger & fries sounds absolutely perfect...  I wonder how the new milkshake machine is working?

Beautiful (if a tad hot and muggy) here today.  The forecast suggested thunderstorms, but so far they've stayed far away.  Saw some awesome thunderheads last night, although it probably wasn't so awesome for those who were underneath them.

Believe I'll head down and volunteer with the RR this weekend.  With a view like this on the morning trip, who can turn it down?

It is now officially Brownout Season in Denver. Got back to the office at 11am from a construction inspection job to find our office building (all 14 floors) had been in the dark for an hour. Went home to push paper and the power did the same thing there, so back to the office.

Hope the gatorade spigot is gravity fed.

Colorado Chris - I remember that picture.  At the time, I thought how beautiful that face was and it was because of the eyes!  I love to check out eyes and see the different colors.  And how they can change depending on the light!  So everyone open wide!

Mutt/Joe - They will dialate my eyes and they will go from hazel to all brown!  It is so odd.

CW - after that lunch - everyone should skip supper!  Let them order in their favorite food.

Sarah - air and fans fail me not!  It is getting pretty gruesome out there again! Houston Nebraska! And I am always good, so no problem there.  Wink [;)]

I've been wracking my brain, trying to decide something for
lunch today.  Finally came up with an idea, but it definitely
is not anything unique.

Today's lunch menu:  salisbury steak w/gravy, mashed taters
and corn on the cob, and peas.

For dessert, we have:  apple pie, pecan pie, peach pie,
and chocolate pie.  If you want something to top your pie,
we have Whipped Topping, or ice cream.

I'm also asking for requests for supper tonight.  Hope to
see at least two or three suggestions for me by about 2 p.m.
