The next round of roast beef and turkey sandwiches and side dishes are ready and on the warmer /cold bar.   Plus, there's still plenty of the peach cobblers and peach pies left, and whichever favorite flavor of ice cream you prefer.

Joe, your containers are ready, and in the fridge for you.

I'll try to get back in later on this evening, provided we don't get the predicted thunderstorms for later on this evening/night.

Peach, Chocolate, Pistahio, & Swiss Almond.....Now THAT'S a Combination!!!!!!

Managed to get a bit of "yard work" done; we finished, and about 15 minutes

later it started thundering; then the temp went from about 90 to 80 in that amount

of time.......had a semi hard shower.....guess we barely got done in time!

Larry, going with your suggestion for today.  Today's menu:

1.  Hot roast beef and turkey sandwiches (you can have a regular sandwich, or open-face) w/mashed taters, gravy, and other veggies for you to choose from:  baked potato, green beans, spinach , spinach salad, garden salad, Caesar salad, cole slaw, sliced tomatoes, etc.

Got some fresh peaches from Produce today, so tonight at supper time, we'll have fresh peach pie and peach cobbler:  w/plenty of vanilla ice cream, or whatever flavor of ice cream you wish to have on your dessert.

Along with the peaches today, we got:  potatoes, diced green onions, romaine lettuce hearts, and teeny tiny tomatoes.

....This will be a warm one.  First look at our temp. instrument earlier was 76.  If storms don't cool us down today, this will be  up there in the 90's.

Agreed, Mook. But I do feel that, speaking from this side of the pond, behaviour as depicted by the media has had some effect. A popular soap opera over here seems to have characters perpetually shouting at one another, behaviour which is emulated by many of the, shall we say, less intellectually gifted, who assume it is real life. We need to stop and talk to one another more, what about is not important, but personal relations are important.

Anyway, enough of the nostalgia ! What's on the menu today ?

Best regards to you all, and thank you for the welcome back - it is very gratifying and much appreciated.

Hot beef and hot turkey sandwiches sound good....  Smashed 'taters, veggie of choice.

'Nother day.  Managed to get a door sanded down and some paint on it last night.  I was able to use chemical strippers on it, since I was refinishing both sides.  I've got another door to do, but I have to save one side, so it'll be a little tougher.  I think I can take the heat gun to it...

Daughter found an ad in the Sunday paper for bedding while she was here (I probably wouldn't have even looked at the ads), so that piece of the redecorated guest room is complete.  Now I just have to finish painting it.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!  Yes, Dennis, welcome back!  Been a long time since you've been in.

Coffee, juices, teas and lemonade are all freshly made this morning and ready; on the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy and buttermilk pancakes w/syrup.

I would like to get some meal suggestions from you all this morning, for lunch and supper tonight.  Both meals could be the same, or you can suggest several items that you'd like to see on today's lunch and supper menus.

Dennis, very glad to see you back in here, don't stay away so long!

Tom, glad visit with the quack went well.  Hope all is going to stay that way.

Mook, Tom, have to very much agree about the "simpler life" when you didn't have

to worry so much about "things".  We don't have that much crime in our area, but

seemingly the way things are, we have to make very sure the front door is closed

and locked before we go out the back. As far as air conditioning goes, it's only on the

second floor, we generally don't leave first floor windows open.

(especially if no one is home)

Dan, quit sitting on those Ice Cubes to stay Cool! Everything WILL be fine.

(that's the only reason I can see that you're jittery!) (?)

Miz Mook, I too bemoan the loss of things we used to take for granted.  I. e.: not having to lock the door if you left for a while, a loss of civility, loss of respect for elected offices irrespective of how you feel about the hoodlum occupying it, honesty in the press and other news media, fairness in business dealings, free pens and calendars at the savings and loan, dealing with a human when you call a business about a problem. Also not worrying about your kid if you haven't seen her for 10 minutes, not feeling safe in your home, not having to bar your windows to keep riffraff out, a drug free environment to raise your kids in, you get the picture

Simply put, modern life stinx. Phooey

Ger!  Glad to see you back.  It has been way too long!

I always bemoan the fact that we used to be able to do that.  Then they cut down all the trees, poured many acres of concrete and now you barely open a window at all!

Some good news from the quack. I do not have TMJ like I thought, but a readily treatable ear infection! That in itself is a relief. It was muggy out today and I am glad to be back home. The activity on the VHF wireless today was super, and hopefully will last a week or more. Everybody keep cool and safe

Joe and everyone:  for supper tonight, I've made it a semi-Mexican Fiesta night:  tacos, burritos (beef & bean, bean, and beef enchilada style, w/Spanish rice, chopped lettuce w/diced tomatoes and onion, tortilla chips, picante sauce, salsa, and con queso.    Not the whole Mexican Fiesta we usually have, but I thought, "What the hey, it's quick and easy for a Monday.

Our area ended up, so far, with a high of 79, and the humidity is currently at 68% or so.  They say the rain is out of here until Wednesday, so we'll see.

You all have a good evening, and take care.

I wouldn't say jitters CW but I think we're both a bit anxious to just do the thing.  It's still exciting and I'm sure will be a great and memorable day but lots of the little "nit-picky" details are getting a tad tedious.

I thought I'd pop back in here and see if some of the layouts were still working.  I'll clean track for a bit and then scoot on outta here.

Afternoon ,everyone!  Yes, Mutt was correct in his post this morning:  I forgot I had a doctor appointment this morning.  Remembered when Mutt saw my ride pull up out front!

Looks like you all managed to fend for yourselves for lunch.

Dan, I haven't checked our thermometer, but it doesn't feel too bad in the  house, or outside.  It was drizzling as I came home  from the hospital, after having a test done.  Dan, are either you or fiance beginning to get pre-wedding jitters yet?

Tom, Best of Luck with your visit to the Quack today, seems CW had/has one she

almost forgot about....she's there now.

(hope you guys didn't have any damage from that storm!)

It's about 75 degrees here now, already have had some thunder and a couple of light

showers; more expected today. looks like we're not going to get too much "yard work"

in today.

Morning. Thanks for the kind words. Yes, we got hit hard last night, mostly lightning and heavy rain. I haven't checked the official stats yet, but one place north of us got more than 3 inches in a little over an hour.... Today is quack day again, so wish me well

California needs to move monsoon season up a bit.  I was just reading on a fire website that one area in CA is down to just two brush fires that nobody is working on yet.....

Many of the fires that are being worked are being worked by volunteer fire departments and just plain volunteers.  Resources like helicopters and air tankers are in short supply.

Nice here today, with some thunderbumpers forecast a little later in the week - which is fine - we can use some rain.

I'll second that tea (I like mine sweet!)
