Why can't these dumbos be careful with cigarette butts ? I've been a pipe smoker for 45+ years, but I am always careful with matches etc. Saw some halfwit the other day throw a cigarette (unextinguished) out of his car window.
Finished off supper tonight with a large slice of Black Forest gateau - sorry folks, didn't save you any.

Joe: Sounds like a good time and $$$ well spent.
I won't get to watch for the "pink lady" since won't get trackside until end of week. But have noticed a little increase in traffic. We seem to have a pattern here - run during nite and early morning - during cool time: siesta during heat of day and just before the 3:55 pm off duty, run like mad for a little while. Works for me!
Afternoon
we had a good day today.mookie auglaize village is like sauder village here in nw ohio. Its a nice short trip where you can spend time and not go very far.The admission today was by donation so we donated our $$ to the railroad program. They want to rebuild a narrow gauge industrial steam engine and have it run at the park.On the way home we watched some bnsf units going back home. One unit is fading to pink as it was leading an empty coal train.Going to grab some supper then have to get ready for work tonight.
stay safe

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
....69.8 and bright sunshine for us this Sunday morning....Potential for rain sometime today but skies are mostly clear now.
Summer moves on.....Don't look now but the daylight hours are getting shorter now. Max temps happen in a week or so....

Ray - thanx for the cup - I am going to get very close to the coffee this morning.
Tree - it was a cigarette that was improperly disposed of - doing about $2 million in damage and 24 people homeless. Poof!
Joe - happy tripping!
good morning
thanks for breakfast Ray! the front went to the south so we just got a few sprinkles of rain.Nice day today low humidity.Matt and I are going to take a trip to auglaize village. They are having a motorama day.Lots of old cars and they are going to have their speeder running too.
And a good Sunday morning to everyone out there! The coffee here is about finished brewing and I've mixed up a fresh batch of orange juice. Breakfast this morning will consist of bacon and scrambled eggs, buttermilk pancakes with hot maple syrup, french toast and I made a pan of cinnamon rolls earlier this morning. And Mookie, I got your coffee cup down out of the cupboard for you.
It cooled down here in Sioux Falls nicely during the night, and the last time I looked we had a temperature of 55 degrees. Today it is supposed to warm up to about 83. I am just hoping that the humidity today will not be so gawd-awful like it was on Friday.
I hope the rest of you out there all have a good day!
Ray ooo ooo ooOOOOOo
Ms Mook - City near here just had a fire in a duplex. Cause: Cooking...
Nice day at the French Festival, if hot. Only a few heat related cases, and nobody had to go to the hospital. Stocked up on "French" pastry to share with the train crew on Sunday.
Raining now - and still in the mid 70's at 11pm. Thunderbumpers definitely a possibility overnight.
Gotta get my rest. Workin' on the railroad Sunday.

? What would that be, no line goes from Crestline to Willard, but I'm sure there's something close that you remember.
Well... another lovely Nebraska day. We had a nice strong cold front move across the area yesterday evening. I'm not sure that I've ever seen such a quick drop in dewpoints. At 11:00 PM, the dewpoint was 70 degrees, at 2:00 AM it was 42 degrees. The high temperature today was 79 degrees and the humidity stayed low, so it was quite nice. Tomorrow looks nice too, so maybe I'll do some train watching, since I have the day off.
Have a nice evening, everyone.

Hi Randy! Long time no see. Stay cool
Ign - you can get all the ice tea and ice cream you can hold. And at no cost, either. Just requires a very good imagination!
Went hunting today. This may not mean a lot to most of you, but a few of you will know:
Saw a BNSF Gp38 and a Gp39-E, a CEFX (but they are becoming pretty commonplace around here) a circus wagon - new KCS engine. (that is truly an (ahem) eye-opener), a BNSF SD60 and an ELMO.
After a month or more of not so much as a switch engine for long periods of time, they were really busy today. Lots of freight and lots of coal. And that old SW10 or SW15 - I didn't see it, but I heard it!
A nice day to be out hunting! And only carried a newspaper, a book and a magazine!

Q - we keep our LFD busy that's for sure. So many of them are cooking fires - they never get a proper supper hour. This sounds like it started in an apt on 2nd and made it's way to 3rd before it was turned in. For whatever reason, the 3rd floor person had to pull the alarm on the way out.
All our big fires seem to be caused by carelessness. This will be another biggie.
J
....J, from your reporting....your city seems to have it's share of fires.
For the fire people in here: 2 alarm in apartment complex (several 3 story buildings grouped together) Half the city rigs are over there - 2 aerials - the electricity is still on and heavy lightning in the area.
We don't pay those people enough!
Mook
......Saturday morning here in Muncie is dark, with rain and surprisingly 77 degrees to start with. A bit after 8.
juice coffee and rolls are ready to go now.we are making some lemonade and tea for later.Forgot to mention that some familiar voices were heard on the scanner yesterday on the q501.Sounds like they will be working the Y101 again come monday.
A rather warm one here in nw ohio today. After my nap matt and I checked on the toledo sub.Saw some good stuff in leipsic and of course in Deshler. We watched as the y101 handed off cars to the 508 in the yard.Rain moving in for tommorow. We'll be helping mamma with chores.
A wonderful fall day here in the north woods of NY. Cloudy and cool - 70 would be an optomistic guess at the railroad. Plus we got some light showers. Actually made for decent working conditions, even if the kayakers got a little cool. We gave 'em all a nice ride on the railroad.
Forecast for tomorrow is still looking at around 90, which will be fun at the French Festival. I can remember to drink plenty of water, but can everyone else? We always get at least one dehydration call, not to mention the occasional person who chose to rehydrate (sometimes to excess) with the alcoholic beverage of their choice...
Three more trips down toward certification as conductor. Had a great conductor today who was more than willing to let me take the helm.
Time to gather up what I need for tomorrow and call it a night (right after I take the dog for a walk...)

It's hot and windy here is Sioux Falls, right now we have a temperature of about 94 degrees and the humidity is sitting at about 41%. The wind is out of the south, south/west at about 15 to 17 MPH, which is typical for South Dakota.
I had a job interview this afternoon with the Culver's chain of restaurants, and it is looking promising. I sat down with a gentleman who's name is Corry, and he told me that based on the number of questions that I answered for him, he is going to recommend me to the upper level management. I am supposed to call this guy again this coming Monday afternoon. I initially told him that I would like to have a minimum of 15 hours a week with Culver's, but toward the end of my interview with him he asked me if I would be interested in taking on 20 to 25 hours per week, and without any hesitation I said "Yes!" When asked, I told him that I would be willing to work at any one of the other Culver's stores, and he told me that where they really need extra hands is out at the one store out by our Empire Mall on Louise Avenue.
Nothing is set in stone yet, but I could find myself working for Culver's beginning next week and at $7.50 per hour. I told Corry that I am getting at the most, about 18 hours per week with my job at Wendy's and at $7.00 per hour. We shook hands on all this when we concluded my interview with him, and he told me that he would like me to call him back this coming Monday afternoon. He told me that if I am able to stay with Culver's long enough, I could end up in a management position. Now, that is something to think about!
It took me about an hour to walk home from this job interview, and knowing that I would be walking home in 90 degree heat plus, I chose to dress comfortably, no tie or sport coat. I would have cooked myself in the hot sun wearing a sport coat and tie.

Today is a classic summer day in Nebraska. Temperatures in the mid 90s, hot south winds, and a chance of severe evening thunderstorms. It doesn't get much better.
I will be off to Arby's at 5:00 PM for a short (2.75 hour) shift. Then tomorrow, I work from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, so it'll be a longer day.
I think I'll take some jumbo shrimp and a helping of peach pie before heading out the door.
Mookie, I'll bring along an extra box of kleenex, also. I have never cried at a wedding; if I need any, it'll be for my allergies.
Adrian, good to see you. How is the weather in Delaware? Is it as warm there, as in most of the U.S.?
So Mookie, and no one else has to go hungry, I've got our Friday Fish Fry set out on the warmer bar, and everything is all ready for you all to eat. On today's menu:
1. Bass2. Catfish3. Perch4. Salmon patties5.Clams6.Rolled oysters7. Jumbo butterfly shrimp
Side dishes: corn on the cob, fries, hushpuppies, cole slaw, sauteed mushrooms & onion, baked beans
Desserts: apple, peach, strawberry and pecan pies, along with ice cream and blueberry, apple, and peach cobblers.
