Heck, I'd like to pay you a visit, but you'd probably have to move the decimal point a place to the right to cover my gas.... Besides, I'll need it right here...
My summer will take me back to MD (attending big fire thing in Balto with son, plus my mom coming in to visit her great-granddaughter), and a trip to MI a couple weeks later for a class reunion. Mom may tag along on that, too, as she'll still be in the area.

Tree - we may never get together for a visit - you can't fly w/o mortgaging your house, you can't drive for same reason and I think Amtrak drowned....

Ditto on both counts, except that I have a wife recovering from surgery (I wish we were preparing for a vacation).

And to think... it's 80 degrees and mostly sunny in Omaha! Such strange weather these days.
Larry - Just out of curiosity, what is a "Microferroequinologist"? I looked it up in a couple of dictionaries and found nothing.

Her physical therapist told her that she's already a week ahead of where she was with the first knee. I think it helps to have one good knee already...

Just break it down into it's parts:
Micro - Small
Ferro - from the Latin for Iron
Equin - From the Latin for Horse
ologist - Not sure of the origin, but it denotes "one who studies...."
Actually, on this forum, most of us are Macroferroequinologists.... Or just Ferroequinologists...

Good evening everyone. It was 104 degrees F. today in Sacramento, CA. Can I have some lemon iced tea to cool off?
Oh, IA Brian.... Just watched huge thunderheads headed right around the north edge of Lincoln and right into Iowa. And another group of huge thunderheads headed south and west around the other side of Lincoln toward MO - they may clip KS, but my $ is on MO. Willy you would have loved watching them. They were gynormous. Never once did they go overhead here.
Going to breakfast and then the 3 Blysard girls and the Driver are going shopping and Houston Ed and I are going to go sneak up on a few trains. Hope they are still running at least a little. Could be a long couple of hours if we just sit and look at the empty rails! Then I am going to take them over to meet the old railroader. He will be 91 in a couple of months and I am dying to see if he will tell some of his old railroad stories. If only I could bottle that....
Brian, I'm very glad to hear that Joanie is doing so well!!
Mookie, enjoy your breakfast with Driver and the Blysards. And I know you and Ed will have a good time watching the trains!
Coffee, juices and teas are ready for this morning. And on the warmer bar: pancakes, waffles, plenty of syrup(maple, blueberry, etc.), scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, pork sausage, bear claws, bagels, cinnamon rolls, cantaloupe, pineapple slices, etc.
Going to a graduation this morning, so will see everyone back in here tonight for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.
good morning
we have some sprinkles this morning here in nw ohio.Mookie and Ed hope the trains are a plenty for you.Cw thanks for breakfast.
......Oh the old stories from the real old timers are the best. Why not have a little recorder running just in case Jen....
Hello to all the Houston family from me....Hope all enjoys and the "weather" goes around you once more.

One of those storm clouds went right over Arby's last night, but I think the best part of it missed us just to the east. We still got some rain and thunder and lightning, though. Have a nice morning with the Blysards!
Well, I have work from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM Today, and then no more work for a week. Just fun in Branson.
Have a good day!

Mook, are there any Dairy Queens in Lincoln?
If so, you'll have to take the "Houston Family" there to eat........
I know they serve "Blysards" there!! (or was that "Blizzards?!)
Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!
Good late morning everyone. It's going be well over 100 degrees F. here in Sacramento, CA today.
Can we have a big pitcher of iced tea a the cafe today?
My thanks to Ed & family for keeping the cat busy whilst I roamed in the other end of the state. (Golden spike observation tower at Bailey is now open and going great guns)...
Safely back in Denver
....Just a tick of update info {for any interested}, is the status of the live web cams at the site of construction of the 2000' long bridge {for route 93}, across the Colorado River just below Hoover Dam. The bridge floor will be roughly 900' above the canyon / river below...!
It is constructed mostly with pre cast....{on site}, pieces and parts for the vertical columns and the massive arch to hold the structure in place over the canyon. Last Fall they had a massive failure of the "sky crane" and it sounds like it has been rebuilt....It's used to take construction pieces / parts out over the canyon to the construction end of the bridge under construction.
The web cams have been out of service for months. I just turned to it once again and the posting indicates: The live web cams {that show the actual construction as it is happening}, to soon be back on line. Believe it indicated the massive arch is scheduled to be connected with the "keystone" center piece in Sept. 09. This is an unbelievable project...!
If interested, check at Hoover Dam Bridge project.
Well, here it is, time for supper, so here's our SATURDAY NIGHT PIZZA FEST menu:
1. anchovie
2. cheese
3. pepperoni/mushroom
4. goetta
5. Hawaiian
6. Special
7. supreme
8. calzones
Well, if anyone is wondering about the graduation we attended this morning: Sarah's firefighter training class graduated today. She is now officially a firefighter within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The ladies aulilliary supplied a cake (half chocolate, half yellow cake w/white icing), along with punch and some assorted fruit. The recruits, their families and friends attending, and the instructors all had very big smiles on their faces. They even showed a video taken of the recruits during their training sessions.
Hope everyone has a great evening, and enjoy your pizzas!
Quentin - I will see if I have the energy to look up the webcam. Sounds interesting.
Walt - groan
Willy - have a good trip. Don't forget every thing you have learned and if Dad runs short of $, help out at the Branson Arbys.....
Sarah - congratulations on your graduation. Maybe when Tree retires he will need a replacement?
Want to take up nursing next? I think after this weekend, I will need a lot of care and naps. I am running on about 4 hours of sleep and need to be at attention and awake at breakfast tomorrow at 8 am.
We are the proud parents of two girls again. Morgan (9) and Elizabeth (15). The Driver and Beth are a perfect foil for each other! A tie for which one is faster from the lip! They are a perfect match. Morgan and I are the quiet (ha!) ones. She reads and I listen. We have to travel as a caravan (2 cars) and since the girls like to ride with us, we just drive off and leave Ed and Aimee to fend for themselves. (Houston Ed is very good at tracking.)
Thunderstorm passing over right now. Nothing important. Just washing down the pollen.
Soon as the family leaves to go back to Houston tomorrow, I will rest and then start on my chicken trap.
Hawaiian, SVP.
Sarah - Congratulations! My son recently finished up FF2 in the state of Maryland and is on track to start soon with a federal fire department in the area. He's already a volunteer with Dunkirk in Calvert County.
We need all the help we can get - numbers of volunteer firefighters are down - way down - all over the country. We are actively looking for ways here to get new firefighters and better keep those that we already have.
OK, enough of the soapbox.
Sounds like Ms Mook is enjoying herself (and no doubt Houston Ed and family are as well...)
Good Sunday morning, eveyrone; and, Joe, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Coffee, teas and juices are ready. And for breakfast this morning: blueberry muffins, sausage, turkey bacon, pancakes & waffles w/plenty of maple syrup, blueberry, syrup and fresh strawberries ( if anyone would like them over your pancakes)
Joe, what would you like to have for your Birthday Sunday Dinner? Just let me know whatever you want, and I'll get started on it!
I'm glad I left the birthday decorations up, and will keep them up until after next Sunday, when we have another birthday around here.
Happy Birthday Joe! Did Mamma and Matt happen to get you a "greenie"? At least a nap - which is something I may want to borrow here, shortly!
We are going to send Houston off to Houston and then go fishing in your honor.
.....66 degrees when I first looked this morning....Partly sunny and the possibility of scattered storms today.
I wonder if Ed will try to make that drive home all in one shot today...
Just looked on the map and it is a rather long drive to try to do that.
Good morning everyone. Currently 70 with fog in Carolina with 90 and thunderstorms forecast. Strange, we sweat during the day and nearly have to turn on the heat at night. Not only that, it's summer no less.
Mookie, after you run Houston off, lemme know and I'll go fishing with you and Driver. Larry, what railroad do you help out on? Just curiousl CW, thanks for breakfast. It always hits the spot.
Everybody stay safe and cool.
Tom
