During WW1, a trench mortar round was known as a flying pig, cuz you could see it coming and duck. One, a dud, was found a few years back under a house in Flanders. The builders apparently found it to be in the way so they took a sledge hammer and beat it until it moved. The bomb squad detonated it.....

CW - we have so much oink and pork around here, you should do porkchops tonite.

When I went to the webcam, there was a TOFC (pig train).  I was surprised they didn't have life preservers on all the trailers.

I am beginning to think our brother pigs are a lot smarter than a lot of the people I am meeting here lately.

Dan - when the Driver and I wed, I cried through the whole ceremony - (I cry at every wedding, whether I know the people or not....) And my nose was running like a bad faucet.  I had a couple of tissues stuffed in my "frontage" and almost tipped the minister over when I started to thrash around in there for one of them.  I could only hope I wouldn't forget and burst out with something like "well, I am sure I had two of them when I came in here!"

Yeah - old joke, but rest is too true!

Dan, sorry to hear about your future cousin-in-law's car.  Do they have security cameras in the parking lot of her job?  Maybe they can view it, and find the perp (s).

Got more beef stew and cornbread out on the warmer bar.  We also have the following desserts:  chocolate cake, strawberry cheesecake, cherry cheesecake, blueberry cobbler and there's plenty of the ice cream that Ray brought in Saturday.

Mookie, I already had beef stew ready for tonight.  Is it all right with you, if I fix the pork chops tomorrow?  And what side dishes would like to have with the pork chops?  And how do you want the pork chops fixed (fried, baked, etc.)?

CW, I certainly would opt for pork chops for dinner tomorrow night. That is something that I've not had in a long time. When my Mom used to do pork chops, they would come out of the oven smothered in a kind of bread crumb dressing, much like you would stuff a Thanksgiving turkey with.

I've got a package of chicken breasts in my ice box which my sister bought for me a couple months ago. Can anyone give me any tips for cooking or baking chicken??

CW - browned porkchops with shroom soup on top and baked; pc and bread dressing like Ray was talking about. (yum) pc and fried onions....drool, breaded pc, pc and side of applesauce.  Or pc and spiced apples on the side - haven't had those for years!

Lime jello with fresh peeled and halved pears - 7 up instead of water for jello.....

I would even settle for some of Tree's good BBQ!  and corn-on-the-cob....

Ray - chix breasts - make stir fry?  Just frozen veggies and chop up the breasts before cooking.

Chix *** in a club style sandwich?  Substitute a chix *** for the other meats and combine with bacon and tomato as usual.

Linguini and browned chix breasts - mix with shroom soup, little 1/2 & 1/2 and seasoning.

Breaded chix breasts and side salad.....

CW?  Tree?  Dan?  Anyone else that cooks?

Sorry Mook...I'm not a big PC Chef.  Or eater!

CW they didn't have cameras.  The car was there and then not-no clues, witnesses, or leads to speak of.

Mookie, I have never been much of a cook, but I can make a pretty darned good pot of spagetti sauce. In fact I am tempted to go after some ground beef, tomatoes, and tomato paste so that I can have spagetti for dinner sometime next week.

I can bake almost anything from scratch though, including cookies, breads and cinnamon rolls. Several years ago I taught myself how to bake bread from scratch, and I use all the time-honored, old fashioned methods where everything is done by hand. I do not use a bread machine! It's too bad that you and I don't live much closer together, because otherwise I would fill your house with the aroma of freshly baked bread. Chef [C=:-)]

When it comes to cookies, I would mail a small sample of what I produce to anyone in this forum who might request it. It's a great way to build friendships and I did this with a nice young lady who lives in Louisville, Kentucky with Mutt and CW.

Mook, you'd probably like My Pork Roast....little slots for all the Good stuff, like garlic,

cloves, etc., smothered in mushrooms!..and of course baked until it just about "falls apart"!

Ray, remind me, and I'll send you my Spaghetti Casserole recipe if you want to try it.

Chicken *** over pasta (spaghetti or linguini) with your choice of sauce.  In my son's case it was spaghetti sauce - it's a very fast and easy meal for one.  Throw in some garlic bread and you're set.

I'm not one for 'shrooms - I liken them to organic rubber.

Then again, barbequed chicken is always good.  Maybe some salt potatos and macaroni salad on the side, and the corn on the cob sounds good, too.

So many choices...

Ray, if you just want the breasts by themselves; do what ever seasoning you

wish, and coat them with Miracle-Whip. Fry in skillet, on the grill, "George Foreman", oven broiler drawer, whatever....and serve with side dishes you deem appropriate.

(make sure you can watch the trains go by....Hopefully you'll have a view!)

Good Thursday morning, everyone!  I hope you all had a very good night's sleep.  I did, but seems I just didn't get enough, because I'm still Zzz [zzz] Zzz [zzz].

Coffee, juices and teas are ready, and on the breakfast bar, you'll find:  oatmeal & toast, bagels, bear claws, BLTs, turkey bacon, sausage(pork), biscuits & gravy and scrambled eggs, so everyone can have their choice.

Mookie, getting everything ready to fix your pork chops for lunch today.  I'll bake them in the oven, with the stuffing (or dressing as we say here in the South), shrooms, and some cream of mushroom soup poured over the top.  And we'll have applesauce, mashed taters, corn on the cob, and garden salad.  Everything should be ready by noon time for ya!!

And for those who don't particularly care for pc, there will be leftover beef stew w/cornbread, and chicken stir fry, along with the assorted veggies listed above.

.....A late morning entry here....just ready to turn 70 degrees.  A moderate temp., sunny day and low humidity.  Believe this is a mowing day.

May the floodwaters drain away from those that have been plagued by it but look out down thru the southern area where the Mississippi flows.  I'm sure all that water from this vast area will cause trouble getting to the Gulf.

Started the pork chops off by browning them in my big skillets, then transferred them to a very large pan, atop the dressing, and poured c of m soup over it all.  Now, it's all on the warmer bar, ready for you all to dig in!  And for anyone who doesn't want pork chops, along with leftover beef stew & cornbread, there's open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters & gravy, and all the sides for today to choose from.

Now, where's Mookie?!?!?!  Tom and Quentin, go ahead and help yourselves.  I'm sure others will start coming in shortly.

Good Friday morning, everyone.  Looks like no one was in here last night.  So, I have cleared off everything from the warmer bar, cleaned and washed it down.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  bagels, doughnuts, bear claws, sausage, scrambled eggs, cinnamon rolls, hash browns, biscuits and sausage gravy.

You all have a good morning.

Hopefully, we can do it without a severe thundrstorm alert like we had yestiddy. Today is quack day again, and honestly, I feel too bad to go. Yall take care and stay cool

Tom - it is a beautiful day here in the true midwest.  Wish you felt better.  This is not good for the first day of summer!

Willy - Houston Ed will be here sometime today.  Want to come to Lincoln?  Hop in your car, fill up the tank for $84.75 and hurry on down!  Thumbs Up [tup]  Make it your pre-vacation vacation.

I would like to come, but I don't think we can. We have all of the usual pre-vacation things to do like make sure the house is tidy, figure out who is going to water the plants and feed the cats, start getting the suitcases ready, etc. Then, I'm off to work from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. However, please do tell Ed hello for us. See lots of trains and have fun!

Tom - I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Hopefully the doctor can do something to make you feel better in a jiffy.

Willy
