My cat won't bother with butter if there's meat around!

Lunch is now being served: ham & turkey sandwiches on nice, big dinner rolls, fresh from the oven. Also got the following salads: garden, Caesar, fruit, and Pistachio (or some people call it Watergate Salad).
Desserts: chocolate cake, and what's left of my egg-shaped coconut cake, and Larry's Easter Bunny cake.
Now: anyone has any suggestions for supper tonight?
CW, again you find my weakness (0ne of them) with dinner rolls fresh from the oven. I'll have a turkey sandwich, garden salad and chocolate cake (another one) and then a nap if a chair is available.
Another bright sunshiney day in AZ, temp in low 70's here in the mountains. Will workout on weights this PM, after my nap.
Jack
Supper is ready! On tonight's menu: burgers, cheeseburgers, bacon burgers, fries, and garden salad.
You all have a terrific evening, and I'll try to make it back in here later.
Good Tuesday morning, you all. Although, not too good, since it looks like no one was in here at all last night.
Coffee and other beverages are fresh and ready this morning.
Breakfast is on the breakfast/warmer bar: all the regular menu items. Help youselves, and I'll see you all after Tuesday Produce.
//limps into diner
I'll grab a bite quick then back to productivity. I managed to hurt myself last night while running sprints. Who needs an Achille's Tendon anyway?
Supposed to be crappy weather (cold, windy, precipitatish) all week. I'd rather stay in bed...
Dan - you need to find a job where you won't hurt yourself so bad - maybe logging or sky diving to collect birds or bull fighting? They will take you to the alter in a baggie at this rate.
CW - I am having company on Sat afternoon (Willy2) so need to start getting into shape for that - will take Rice Krispies, WW toast, bacon and jelly. That sounds like a nice round shape to me!
It is 50 outside and windy. Think it is going to be 60 today, but was only supposed to be about 42. Someone either left the furnace on too long or they have brain freeze....
Need coffee.....will have to wait for tall/stron gentleman to come in, since Joe is in Rochelle and not available. I'll wait impatiently with CW......
She who has no signature! cinscocom-tmw
Ms Mook - I don't usually do coffee (and still don't drink it). You want cream and sugar with that?
Colder than blue blazes this morning - 15. Supposed to rain this afternoon....

Dan, I often suffer with tendonitis, and my knee joints are about shot. It is common for people to see me limping around, so I can understand your predicament. I sympathize with you, brother!
I'm 5'10", and I don't know if this qualifies me as being "tall and strong", Mookie, but I got your favorite coffee cup out of the cupboard and I've poured you a cup of hot coffee.
It's about 34 degrees here in Sioux Falls right now, it's supposed to top out at about 45 later this afternoon. We had winds blowing out of the south yesterday afternoon at about 25 MPH, and I am hoping that it won't be quite so windy this afternoon. Don't want to get blown into North Dakota!!

Mookie wrote:Tree and Ray - thanx to both of you - I have plenty of coffee. I can drink the diner coffee black but if I make it here at work, I need a little cream. For whatever reason my coffee making skills are lacking and it always bites a little. It's ok, tho. I can complain really well, so it makes up for my lack of skills in domesticity....
Back to the time I was setting stakes and points on forms for nenewing bridges, just after the last dinosaurs became extinct, we boiled coffee at the construction site. Our way of determining if the coffee was too strongh was to throw a track spike into the pot. If it floated the coffee was to strong, if it sank we drank the coffee.
Anyone else have some truth to tell???
It was long a ritual at our house, when I was young, for Mom to boil her coffee every morning and then pour it through a strainer into her favorite cup, add cream and sugar and - it really was pretty good.
They say now that boiled coffee isn't good for you. Guess she quit in time after so many years, cuz she is now almost 88 and still going strong. Dad still drinks coffee anyway he can get his hands on it and he is now almost 91.
Bad coffee.....
Had about 60 people show up today for Produce. Not too bad stuff, either: cabbage, lettuce, apples and potatoes.
On today's lunch menu: BLTs, tuna salad sandwiches and ham sandwiches w/chips and garden salads.
Mookie, getting ready to take a nap: those people wore me out this morning! But, as soon as I wake up, I'll email you how I make coffee. I've had quite a few people ask me how I make coffee, cause they like the taste: not too strong, and not weak.
Catch you all after a bit.

One office I worked in had one of those 20-30 cup drip coffee pots. The boss would show up first each morning and get the first batch going. But he wasn't the most patient type, so he'd make the coffee such that he could draw off a decent cup before it was done brewing. That made the end product pretty strong.
When he retired, I acquired one of his old coffee cups and filled it with brown colored wax with a spoon stuck in it. The wax was made so it could be pulled out with the spoon, to illustrate just how strong his coffee was. Unfortunately I couldn't make the retirement party, so I don't know how the gag went over.
Isn't there something about throwing egg shells in the coffee to keep the grounds down, or something like that?
Speaking of egg shells - dear old Dad told me that when he was in the Army (WWII), real eggs were in short supply. Powdered eggs filled in at the mess hall, but the troops always complained about that. So, when mixing up a vat of the powdered eggs, they'd throw in a dozen eggs, shell and all. Now the troops complained about the shells in the scrambled eggs, or figured they were using real eggs instead...
One of my co-workers used to drink coffee made with 2 tsp of salt in the grounds. She loved it and I couldn't tell the difference between the salted and unsalted liquid cardboard.
We're almost at 50 degrees outside...I better get home and break out the shorts!

.....Wind is the name of the weather game here in the mid west today.....and especially central Indiana but it's wide spread as we just were talking to friends in Pennsylvania and it's windy there too...
21 mph and 37 mph gusts....Partly cloudy and 48 degrees but feels colder.
Still waiting for our first Humming bird to return....None yet.

Well, it's been a beautiful day here in the Metro Louisville area! Mostly sunshine, and a few clouds and a little bit overcast late afternoon. Might have a little bit of light rain, or sprinkles this evening, but nothing too bad.
Our supper menu tonight:
Italian spaghetti w/mushrooms, and the spaghetti sauce is parmesean & romano. Also have your choice of garlic Italian style bread or garlic Texas Toast, and there's plenty of garden salad in the cooler.
Getting ready to dish up our supper here at home, which is the same as in the Cafe tonight. Hope you all enjoy your supper, and take care.
eolafan wrote:I am on my way up into Wisconsin tomorrow and Thursday it is expected to snow up to six inches in the S.E. Wisconsin area...oh goody!
Great. I didn't think that area of the state had enough snow. Let's give you all of ours, too!
CW ; Isnt' it gittin' close to springtime salad , such as watercress /w vinegar and bacon bits?? . Then serve pork chops /w elephant ear mushrooms mash taters , and gravy. To wash it all down, stout sassafras tea. ~~~ peach cobbler would be nice ( warm) for a topper. Or has the high water washed the patch of watercress away?? Justa thought.
Respectfully , Cannonball
Y6bs evergreen in my mind
Looks like I'm the last one here tonight. Time to finish off all of the remaining pastries.
I wonder if I burp in my sleep?
Good Wednesday morning, everyone! Dale, thanks for cleaning up in here last night/wee hours of this morning!! I appreciate all help around here!
Eolofan Jim, have a safe trip to Wisconsin, and back home again!
Coffee, juices, tea and cider are fresh this morning. On the warmer bar this morning: turkey bacon, oatmeal, toast, bagels and bear claws.
Cannonball, thank you for your meal suggestion. I will try to find some watercress; but, in case I don't (might be too early for it around here), I've got some bibb lettuce, that should work in a salad with the vinegar and bacon bits. The pork chops, mushrooms and taters will be going in the Crock Pots in about a half hour, so it'll be ready by lunchtime. And while that's starting to cook, I'll get busy in some peach cobblers.
^? Another day of breathing ready to go. Pretty quiet, so will go doze in the corner.
@ (for those that have always wondered - that is to show a cat napping....)
Drive safe in the land-o-cheese Jim. I hear they got a pile of snow down that way with more coming.
My tendon is sore this morning, but better than yesterday: I can run again! YAY! Time to get back at 'er...duck and cover weightroom. Playtime... I'll be back in for lunch.
I'll eat light this AM after seeing CW's mid-day plans. Too early for me to make ice cream out on my deck so I will furnish some Breyer's vanilla to put on the peach cobbler Paula is making.
Later this spring I shall contribute home made ice cream. Just vanilla but I bring several toppings.
