Looks like another beautiful sunny March day hereabouts.  Fifteen degrees is a little of the mark, though - not conducive to melting the snow we still have left (which, due to a bunch of freeze/thaw cycles lately is as hard as a rock).

Lots to do.  Better get to my chore list for the day.

You're right, at least they got saved. I was living in that area when all transpired;

IIRC, there was quite a to do about saving them and where they would go.

At least I can say that I've seen them in both places.

31F and cloudy at 9:55 CST here in Aurora, IL...we dodged the weather bullet once again yesterday and last night by missing the worst of the storm which dumped upwards of a foot of fresh snow on parts of the Chicago metro area (mostly north and northwest suburbs).  Mr. Weatherman is predicting high fifties to low sixties later this week...hurray!

The flooding river at Fenton Mo. is bad news any time . The RR bridge seems to be in peril of being pushed down stream is obvious. My question is , do RRs. push a string of ballastcars ( loaded) on to the bridge to save it from being washed away??

....That was my first thought when I saw that RR bridge about even with the swift water flow....Where are the hopper cars loaded with coal or stone, ballast....anything that would be heavy.

I've seen that done in the past to help save a bridge from moving just as Cannonball said in above post.

One example....A B&O bridge back in Johnstown, Pa. during one of their floods.

Good Happy Easter Sunday to one and all!!  (Even if it's a cold one for some of you folks this morning.  Our temp was 35 when I woke up at 6, and it's now 32, 33 degrees.)

Coffee, fresh juices (oj, oj/tangerine, pineapple) are all freshly made and in the cooler.  We've also got hot cider this morning, and hot water for tea.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage links & patties, and pancakes, with plenty of syrup, or jellies, jams, marmalades, strawberries, blueberries, whatever you'd like on your pancakes this morning.

I hope at least some of you make it back, for our EASTER SUNDAY DINNER.  I've got both a large ham and a 25 lb. turkey cooking in the oven, and I'm busy getting the side dishes menu ready.

Just found a couple of Matt's eggs under the counter!  How many can the rest of you find?!?!?!

....26 degrees now and the sun is shining out across the area from it's very low position.  We might get some rain later today but it doesn't look like that now.

Looks like it will be ok for the church services on this Easter morning.

Happy Easter to everyone out there! Christ is Risen!!

We have 26 degrees here in Sioux Falls right now, and it is supposed to warm up to about 36 later this afternoon. We had snow flurries off and on all day yesterday and it was kind of a gloomy day here. I honestly don't know if we will see any sunshine at all today.

My family will gather at my sister's house later this afternoon for a turkey dinner, and I will be baking bread for our dinner this afternoon. I will need to stop at my neighborhood grocery store on the way home from church and pick up a 10 pound sack of bread flour though. Chef [C=:-)]

Indeed - Happy Easter.

Anyone headed for an outdoor service in this area needs to bundle up - I just finished my easter brunch and it's a whole seventeen degrees.

Granddaughter being visited by her new aunt this weekend.  Hopefully they can pry the baby from Auntie's arms long enough to feed her, etc....  Uncle was a little leary of the whole baby thing.  Maybe this "immersion" will allay his fears.

Lot's to do.  Already slept in, so that's one thing I can check off my list.  Next is to get dressed and get the Sunday paper.  Gotta have those funnies, donchaknow!

Oh my CW, how you do spoil us. but we are worth it; right gals and guys?

Mutt, do you hide your own eggs??? It has been suggested I could do it and enjoy looking for them multiple times. But surely my friends exagerate about my poor memory.

Happy Easter to all.

Tyler - Outstanding pacing shot!

Since I'm in the kitchen anyhow, I'll whip up an "Easter Bunny" cake -

One round pan, cake mix to suit.  Prepare, bake, etc.  Remove from pan and cool.

Cut in three pieces - two hemispherical and a slice in the middle.  The two large pieces will be set on the cut edge (back to back) as the bunny's body, so cut carefully to match.  The slice from the middle will be cut to form the head.

Frost like you would a two layer cake to join the two sides, place the head, and then frost the whole thing.  Unless you're into odd colored bunnies, white frosting will do just fine.  Before the frosting sets, cover with shredded coconut.  Use pink jelly beans for eyes (unless you choose otherwise).

Cut two pieces of heavy white paper into bunny ear shapes.  Fold in half lengthwise.  Using food coloring, paint the inside of the ears pink.

Mix up some milk and green food coloring.  Not too much.  Add enough shredded coconut to form a "nest" around the bunny on the tray or plate you use.  Mix well, drain if necessary, then turn out on some paper towels to dry some.  Surround the bunny with the "grass" and plant plenty of jelly beans in the grass.

Voila.

It's on the counter.

Jack and Dale, thank you for your kind words!Blush [:I]

And Larry, thank you for making the bunny Easter Cake!!  The one I made, was egg-shaped:  I just used a canned ham can, and filled it with cake batter, baked it, cooled it, then decorated it.

I've warmed up some more turkey and ham and trimmings, and set everything out.  So help yourselves, if you're not too stuffed, already!  We have had some rain this afternoon, early evening, and snow showers!!

I do  remember, back on Easter Sunday, 1971, we woke up to about 5, 6 inches on the ground.  We didn't go to Sunrise Service, that year.  Stayed home, and worked on Easter Dinner, before my brothers and sister and their families showed up, ready to eat!!

Hmmm - leftovers - and I love left overs.  Will scrape out the bottom of the E bunny pan.  I won't need breakfast after I clean up all the items leftover from yesterday.

We had Easter with the squirrels.  They love us - or maybe it is the peanuts and seeds?  Who sez you can't buy love!

Well, can't complain about the fact that it was sunny all weekend - which it was.  Would have liked warmer temperatures.  This morning - snow.

I'll grab my usuals and be over in the corner contemplating nature...

....A moderate Easter Sunday with on and off sunshine.  Today, and now....29 and rising.  Sunshine.  Grass is greening and the trip to the little barn in the back yard to check in on the John Deere is coming close.....Must install the Humming bird feeder today on family room sliding glass door glass.  Old man winter will have to be packing and be on his way.....

Edit:  And they just fertilized the lawn today.....

Good morning, everyone!  Looks like today's going to be a beautiful, sunshiney day, even though it's on the cool side.  High today should reach about 45, 46 degrees by 6 p.m.

Mookie, glad you found the "leftovers" in the cake pans!!  Although, there wasn't much left in the pans.  For once, the cakes came out of them, fairly easy, and didn't crumble much!

As usual, couldn't get in the door this morning at 6:15.  That seems to be the norm lately, around here.  But I'm glad some of you were able to get in this morning!!

Do I have any meal requests for today, other than what's left of the turkey and ham from yesterday?

Rolls!  Great sandwiches with those leftovers!

Some salads would be good.

I'd offer some leftover baking powder bisquits, but I forgot them on the table last night after I ate.  The Dalmatian didn't forget them, though....

He's gotten into the butter (margarine) tub before, too.  Just not both at the same time.

He can be quite the thief.  I know if I hear the dog door slam open that I need to figure out what he's up to...
