IGN - go!  We went today and they are definitely running and worth watching.

Joe - Saw DE heading west - with snow on the head end.  Had he slowed down I could have made a snowball for you.....Mischief

Brian - sound serious.  Need to do some medical research on that.  Have a girlfriend that has to take Prednisone for an AI situation - she gets a cold sore and then breaks out in hives, all over her body.  She has to take meds to keep her outbreaks from happening.  Summer is especially bad for her.

Wish you well.  Not a fun thing to go thru.

Saw 2 70's and a GP38 doing some "sorting".  Wonder if the local ADM plant will get the cars when they get done and then the 38 will stay for spotting.  The 70's were both working and the 38 was silent.  Looked like a lot of power for what they were doing, but think maybe the 38 was just along for the ride right now.

Well, no one can refute my stories about what is going on at the edge of the yard, so I need to organize my thoughts and make up something that sounds logical.  Wish I knew for sure - but don't think that is going to happen!

Well, Utah did it! My watching the game did not help Alabama for long. Dorothy (the strong Utah fan in our church) should sleep well tonight.

Johnny

I didnt get a chance to watch the game, but I hear it was a good one!

Good Morning All!! Well, Good afternoon! at 2:20 today it is a scorching 2 degrees F. I slept really late this morning and that was inpart because I just really wanted to sleep, and I was out late last night. Had a great night with my girl and her firends. We went to the local cowboy bar (Where I have never been before) and we shot some pool and me and my girl danced quite a bit. It was an amazing night and I had more fun that I have had in a long time. When we left though, it was 11 Below 0. It seems we are starting to get that true Wyoming Winter now.....

Get Well Brian!

Yes Brian, I hope you get well and FAST!! While I don't know what the heck Sarcoidosis is, I know it is no fun being hospitalized under any circumstances. I hope your health will bounce back to it's normal condition quickly. Take care,

Brian, I'm sorry to hear that you're in the hospital!  Please take care, and follow your doctor's orders.  Please get well soon!!!!

Well, I have supper ready:  turkey, dressing, shellie beans w/potatoes, onion, and diced tomatoes w/basil, garilic & oregano in them and dumplings (no chicken or turkey in them, just the dumplings).

I've been busy in the kitchen all day, so now I think I'll just rest awhile, until the others in the household are ready for supper.  Everyone, enjoy what's left of today, have a good,  safe night, and take care.

Tree:  what name do you give a dalmation?  Only name that comes to mind for me is....Spot....

You name it and a Dal has probably been called it.  The one in residence here was named "Angus" by his mistress.   Doesn't really matter what  you call him - he can't hear you anyhow.

Due to the relationship between Dals and the fire service, you'll often hear fire related names, like "Blaze" or "Smoky."

Made it over to Rochester and back in good shape, but didn't arrive home a moment too soon - that freezing rain is here now (we're almost due east of London, ON).  Just put some salt down on the driveway, but I don't think it's gonna be a real big factor.

The "Railroads" exhibition at George Eastman House in Rochester was OK.  Having seen a lot of Link's work, there weren't too many surprises there.  The Eastman collection of railroad prints had some interesting pieces.  The Cross videos were a mixed bag.  Imagine setting up  your video camera on a spot you knew would see a train, and letting it run for an hour, before, during, and after the train passed.  One video was of a train blocking a crossing.  I didn't stay there a long time, but looking at immobile cars while the crossing lights flashed and the bell rang wasn't terribly exciting.

The rest of the Eastman house is grand, and Mom enjoyed looking around.  The guy had some money.

Work tomorrow (Darn!).  Better start getting organized.

Brian: After reading about that thing, hope it leaves as mysteriously as it shows up (apparently does that a lot)....

On a lighter note, "Da Boyz" got a box full of stuffed toys with motion activated sounds for X-mas. It was a little unnerving to hear a quacking mallard duck for 10 minutes at 2am...(or to look out at the fresh snow by the dog door only to see a stuffed hedgehog looking back in)

Good Monday morning.  We're at 29.5 degrees (reading on our indoor/outdoor thermometer) this morning.

Coffee, juices (oj, oj/tangerine, pineapple, apple, grape), hot chocolate, hot cider, and hot water for tea are ready.

On the warmer bar this morning:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, toast, french toast, oatmeal (maple brown sugar & raisin & spice), bagels and bear claws.

Mudchicken, sounds like da boyz are really enjoying that box full of toys!  Our dog, Winter, only got one new dog toy for Christmas:  a  long green in color, dog toy, dressed as Santa.  She will hardly let anyone touch it.

Everyone have a good day, and please take care.

Good morning and thanks for breakfast. 55 degrees and pea soup fog in Carolina, on the way to 72 and more rain. Our girls, Heidi and Laci have toys everywhere and it is like negotiating a mine field getting around this place. Usually, they ignore them until one or the other takes an interest in one and then the fight starts. Laci is an alpha and demands to be in charge, while Heidi totally ignores her. Such language you never did hear, along with threats. Oh well, ya gotta love'm. Everybody stay safe and warm. Cheers

Sounds like my son's three pups (all males - mini-doxies) - no toy is important until one of the other dogs has it, in which case everyone wants it (even if there are two other identical toys laying there...)

Last night's ice delayed a few schools, but not work, so I actually had to get up and come to work.   Gonna be a short week, though.   Mom's here through Wednesday, so I'm taking the afternoons off, and will be taking her to the airport on Wednesday.  Friday is my "regular day off", so I get a nice, peaceful three day weekend!  Hooray!

Bad weekend for fires here.  Early this morning a bowling alley in a town southeast of here burned down.  The sad news was that eight people (including four kids) died in a fire in a rural house due south of here early Sunday morning.  The fire was well advanced by the time the fire department arrived.

Time for a fire safety message.  There were no smoke detectors in the home.  Most of the victims were on the second floor.  One person, who had been sleeping on the first floor, escaped.

All the happenings {fires, etc...}, around your area sounds very sad Larry.....Winter does bring out such tragedies.  The one thing in your message is not sad and kinda funny....The three mini doxies.....We know how they operate.  Had 2 of them for a period of 33 years....one after the other. They were definitely part of the family....and they seemed to know all about it.  Great lovable pets.

Weather here in central Indiana this morning;  Bright sunshine and about 25 degrees and slowly rising.  Dry.

They had 4, but the female didn't deal with the arrival of the baby well (she got terribly depressed) and moved next door, where she has a loving home.  It's a ball being around the other three.  Lay down on the couch with a throw over you and you instantly have three warm bodies burrowing in.  The oldest dog hasn't been as accepting of the baby as my son would like (but is very far from openly hostile), but the other two don't seem to mind at all.  We'll see what happens when she gets more mobile (which will be very soon).

Larry, I have an uncle in Tennessee, who used to have a dalmation when all of us kids were growing up.  My brother (twin) chased it under a car one time while we were visiting, and got his shoulder torn up, crawling under the car to get to the dog.   Needless to say, he had to take a trip to the hospital while we were there, to get it sewed up!

Lunch today is leftovers from last night's Sunday Dinner:  turkey, dressing, green beans, and I've made some potato salad and pistachio salad.  (Isn't that also called 'Watergate salad', or am I thinking of another salad?)

Sarah's on "Standby" at the firehouse today, and Mutt's gone to the library and hardware store (have several projects to be done, and ran out of drywall screws).  And in about an hour and a half, I'll be going to the Pharmacy to pick up my meds for the month.  So, looks like a busy day around here.

What would you all like to see on the supper/dinner menu tonight?  I will try my best to comply with your all's suggestions!  Just let me know.

....I remember of laying on the couch or back in a lounge chair and our's would have to be right there somewhere snuggled, probably with her nose pushed inside my shirt by the buttons....Most lovable.  They knew they belonged.

Good morning to all. The temperature was reported to be about nine at 6:45 this morning; by the time I went out at 9:15, it was up to eighteen, and should get up into the twenties. More snow is expected tonight; it is merely overcast this morning.

We have been sitting a dalbrador (or is she a labmatian?) since Christmas Day for a daughter and her daughter who have gone to England, Scotland, and Paris (back late tomorrow night). She is a lovely dog, with black spots and splotches, who is quite affectionate. She is not a lap dog (we had, for nine years, an eighty-ninety pound yellow lab mix who enjoyed my lap), but she enjoys being petted and scratched. We definitely have not invited her up on our bed, but sleeps either on her bed or by my side of our bed--I made the mistake of inviting an earlier dog (half black lab, half golden retriever, and solid black) up once when Ricki (my wife) was away, and she (the dog) assumed that our bed was the place for her to sleep thereafter.

I just looked "Dalmatian" up, and learned that no other breed has such markings, and that if the spots are any color other than liver or black it is not purebred

While the markings are probably different, harlequin Great Danes certainly look a lot like an oversized Dal.

Well, since no one gave me any suggestions for supper, here's what I came up with:

Sloppy Joes on hamburger buns, w/your choice of sweet pickle slices or dill pickle slices, your choice of fries or potato chips, and cole slaw or tossed salad;  also tonight, you can have burgers, or cheeseburgers with the same sides choices.

And for dessert, I've just taken the last cookie sheet of sugar cookies out of the oven.

Everyone have a good evening, stay warm, and take care.  Right now, we're not getting any precip, but there's some nasty rain/sleet coming in from the south/southwest, moving up this way.

There is always that great Southern (and often time Mid-Western variation) Dish of the three bean bake. You know the one with the navy beans, lima beans and pork and beans cooked all together with ground sausage, lean hamburger and beef stew. Sounds like as mess until you start eating it with lots yellow cornbread, cold milk or for the bold good coffee.

I am sure that as great a cook as yourself Miss Paula could put together a great evening meal with variations on that theme.

Because one thing is certain in this place, nobody goes away hungry.

Have a great night

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  So glad you all really liked the supper last night!  I thought it just might hit the spot for you all!

34 degrees this morning, with drizzling rain.  To the north of us, it's freezing rain.  Going to make a rough commute for some drivers this morning.  Our high this afternoon, is to get to 39 degrees F.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for tea are ready.

On the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, and there's some fresh sliced pineapple, also.

You all have a very good morning, stay warm, and keep safe out there.
