Happy Birthday Bergie!!!

MC- I sure hope you aren't getting that windstorm we had here yesterday! It was sustained 60mph winds with gusts near 100. Many business signs were damaged, but as of yet no trees reported toppled. That kind of wind would certainly not help any range fire!

Today in the Red Desert we have about 30 degrees, sunny and calm. It sure is a good change from the below 0 temperatures we had last week!

Been a busy past few days for me, Was helping shore some trees up against the wind yesterday, the day before I had to repair a frozen outdoor faucet that began leaking in the house. But best of all, I got my photography show hung at the White Mountian Library here in Rock Springs.

 Have a great day everyone!

RJ, I like your display, although I couldn't make out much detail. I have a friend who is in to photography, and he is forever going to shows. His specialty is Amish culture and he's pretty good at it. All the best and congrats

RJ.....I see you are contending with an outdoor faucet problem.....Don't know if it would have helped your situation, but here on our home we have 2 of them and each fall I cover them with special "insulated mittens" to prevent the cold from running back the pipe to the valve {inside the wall}, from freezing.  I fasten the mittens tight against the outside wall {brick}, with masking tape to make sure the cold air is sealed out from the outside spigot and pipe.  Seems to work as never have had a problem.

I went down to the plumbing supply house I used to work at and got a frost free faucet, installed it, then put a ball valve on the supply to it in the house. So I set it up so where in the winter, I  can open the outside faucet, and shut the water off in the house, avoiding the problem happening again. I knew that was was going to go, it was just a matter of time. I had to do the other on in the front yard 2 winters ago and did it the same way. I am slowly replumbing the whole house.

Thanks to everyone for the congrats and well wishes. If you want to see what I chose, The program with pics is HERE

RJ:  I was assuming you were dealing with a regular outside freeze proof spigot and valve {valve back in the wall about 2'}....But I use the mittens to provide a bit of insurance.

RJ, I finally noticed the link and the others are right. Those are fabulous shots and you are to be congratulated for a job well done. Ref: "Leaving on a jet plane" was Peter Paul and Mary, not John Denver.

RJ, you've got some really nice pictures there!!  I hope the show goes well for you, and that you'll get several of your pictures sold!

Got some more steak burgers, etc., set out on the warmer bar for supper.  The cold sides are in the cooler.

I will try to get back in later; but, just in case I don't, everyone have a good evening, and take care.

Actually, John Denver did write the song.  PP&M's version made it famous.

RJ - Against my better judgement I am going to show The Driver your photos.  He loves to fly fish in Laramie area and hasn't seen the rest of Wyoming.  So I will show him the pix and then listen to him suggest many times how he wants to go back to see more of Wyoming on a vacation.  Smile

Very nice!

Good Friday morning, everyone.  We are down to 21 degrees at 6:03.  It was 23 when I got up an hour ago.  Going for a high of 43 today and the winds are to be mostly calm.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for tea are ready.

On the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, blueberry muffins, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, toast, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, and hash brown taters.

You all have a good morning, stay warm, and take care.

I'm up - (yawn).  Actually have my cup of Ohio right here in front of me.

Joe - I hope if you get snow it comes via north of you and not thru us.

BNSF emptied our yard starting around 4 am this morning.  I was up at 5 (sending Driver off into the cold and dark) and heard 3-4 whistles at the same time.  It continued thru much of the morning and  just now is quiet (8 am)  Guess they want to get it all tidied up for the weekend workers.

Must have looked like a convention with all the crews coming and going.

Joe - Matt is going into a field?  Cool

Off to wrap the garbage in the newspaper.  That's about all it is good for lately.

After we get ours today, there won't be any snow left in the sky for anybody else.  Want to locate Delavan?   Open up a weather radar display and find the spot right in the middle of the heaviest part of the storm.

We had about two inches, at the most, of snow out here in the valley last night. I hope that when the storm gets past the Front Range Mud Chicken will get more than that.

High twenties this morning, with a high of in the thirties forecast. It was up in the fifties yesterday, with a good wind out of the south.

Good afternoon, all.  Having a slight problem w/the puter this afternoon.  Get to a screen, click for something, and wait, wait, wait, wait.  Then get the message at  the top of the page, Not responding.  It has managed to give me a royal headache!

So, while I aparently have juice, lunch is ready and on the warmer bar:  our usual Friday Fish Fry.  You have your choice of cod, perch, haddock, halibut, flounder, whitefish, shrimp, scallops, clams and all the regular side dishes and desserts of pies, cobblers, and cakes.

The building is the old Rock Springs City Hall. It was used up until the 80's and the jail actually housed Butch Cassidy for a short time. He actually got the name Butch from working in a Butcher shop here in Rock Springs.

The 3 photos of the 844 are printed 4x6 and framed as a trio "Northern in Three

And the one of the creek is just barely on the Utah side of the Utah/Wyoming line in the  Uinta Mountians. Sheep Creek Canyon is probably the most amazing place I have ever seen.

Very nice!

Mookie, The Photo, "Water Among the Stones" is actually not far from Laramie, up in the Snowy Range. If you guys ever come back to Vacation in Wyoming let me know, I will suggest lost of places to go that most people don't see. Driver may like it too, I will give him directions to what is known as "The Miracle Mile" on the North Platte River. Best fishing in the state!!!

Thanks to everyone else too!  It has been hung for 5 days now and I have gotten so much publicity and I am starting to get lots of phone calls. No sales as of yet though.

Woke up this morning to a dusting of snow. Kind of suprising because it was almost 50 degrees yesteday!! Today it is a normal early january day, About 30 degrees and Overcast.

I've set the warmer bar with more freshly fried fish, hush puppies, fries, and the hot side dishes and desserts (pies and cobblers).   The cold side dishes are in the cooler, and the cakes are on the counter, in the cake rack.

We got up to a high of 47 today.  Our thermometer was reading 50 a couple of hours ago.

You all enjoy supper, and everyone have  a good evening.  Keep warm, and take care.
