Indeed - Happy Easter.

Anyone headed for an outdoor service in this area needs to bundle up - I just finished my easter brunch and it's a whole seventeen degrees.

Granddaughter being visited by her new aunt this weekend.  Hopefully they can pry the baby from Auntie's arms long enough to feed her, etc....  Uncle was a little leary of the whole baby thing.  Maybe this "immersion" will allay his fears.

Lot's to do.  Already slept in, so that's one thing I can check off my list.  Next is to get dressed and get the Sunday paper.  Gotta have those funnies, donchaknow!

Happy Easter to everyone out there! Christ is Risen!!

We have 26 degrees here in Sioux Falls right now, and it is supposed to warm up to about 36 later this afternoon. We had snow flurries off and on all day yesterday and it was kind of a gloomy day here. I honestly don't know if we will see any sunshine at all today.

My family will gather at my sister's house later this afternoon for a turkey dinner, and I will be baking bread for our dinner this afternoon. I will need to stop at my neighborhood grocery store on the way home from church and pick up a 10 pound sack of bread flour though. Chef [C=:-)]

....26 degrees now and the sun is shining out across the area from it's very low position.  We might get some rain later today but it doesn't look like that now.

Looks like it will be ok for the church services on this Easter morning.

Good Happy Easter Sunday to one and all!!  (Even if it's a cold one for some of you folks this morning.  Our temp was 35 when I woke up at 6, and it's now 32, 33 degrees.)

Coffee, fresh juices (oj, oj/tangerine, pineapple) are all freshly made and in the cooler.  We've also got hot cider this morning, and hot water for tea.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage links & patties, and pancakes, with plenty of syrup, or jellies, jams, marmalades, strawberries, blueberries, whatever you'd like on your pancakes this morning.

I hope at least some of you make it back, for our EASTER SUNDAY DINNER.  I've got both a large ham and a 25 lb. turkey cooking in the oven, and I'm busy getting the side dishes menu ready.

Just found a couple of Matt's eggs under the counter!  How many can the rest of you find?!?!?!

....That was my first thought when I saw that RR bridge about even with the swift water flow....Where are the hopper cars loaded with coal or stone, ballast....anything that would be heavy.

I've seen that done in the past to help save a bridge from moving just as Cannonball said in above post.

One example....A B&O bridge back in Johnstown, Pa. during one of their floods.

The flooding river at Fenton Mo. is bad news any time . The RR bridge seems to be in peril of being pushed down stream is obvious. My question is , do RRs. push a string of ballastcars ( loaded) on to the bridge to save it from being washed away??

31F and cloudy at 9:55 CST here in Aurora, IL...we dodged the weather bullet once again yesterday and last night by missing the worst of the storm which dumped upwards of a foot of fresh snow on parts of the Chicago metro area (mostly north and northwest suburbs).  Mr. Weatherman is predicting high fifties to low sixties later this week...hurray!

You're right, at least they got saved. I was living in that area when all transpired;

IIRC, there was quite a to do about saving them and where they would go.

At least I can say that I've seen them in both places.

And they managed to save CUT 25 (Lima 750 HP SW) which is still running on the Whitewater Valley RR in nearby Connersville, IN. (I think the other 5 Limas are gone) The roundhouse, powerhouse and shop are gone.

Looks like another beautiful sunny March day hereabouts.  Fifteen degrees is a little of the mark, though - not conducive to melting the snow we still have left (which, due to a bunch of freeze/thaw cycles lately is as hard as a rock).

Lots to do.  Better get to my chore list for the day.

Good morning, everyone.  Hope you all had a good evening.  Coffee is on, juices freshly made, there's hot water for tea, and the cider is heating.  On the warmer bar, you will find muffins and cinnamon rolls for this morning.

....Yes, beautiful Art Deco construction.  Sad it's not a hub of activity as it once was.  Didn't Amtrak move back in a portion of it from the Amshak.....?

Photo appears to have been taken sometime in the 40's....Believe that's an early to mid 40's GM car and the other could be a 40's Studebaker.

Art Deco at its best.

Day off today - was going to start the day off with some work on the truck, but there wasn't a cloud in the sky (still pretty chilly!) - perfect for doing some of the prep work for etching some more cap badges for the railroad.  A noon sun works best - I was out there doing the exposures around 12:30.  Now I just have to fire up the etchant and etch away!

After that's done comes for fun part - filling in the letters and herald with paint.

If it's really sunny tomorrow maybe I'll get the photoetch exposed on some brass for the Conductor's badges.

Perch, tartar sauce, some fries, and definitely some pie.

Guess it's time to start our Friday Fish Fry.  On tonight's menu:

Cod, Catfish, Wide mouth bass, Perch; Side dishes:  fries, corn on the cob, hushpuppies, cole slaw; Desserts:  strawberry cheesecake, yellow cake w/caramel icing, and the following pies:  apple, cherry, peach and pecan.

Joe, we've had springlike weather today, with very nice temps; but that is to change tonight, when the front comes through.  Guess it'll be back to sweat pants tomorrow, instead of the shorts and t-shirt for today.

You all have a good evening, and I'll see you later.

How about those Hilltoppers? They would be quite the story if they beat UConn on sunday.

Good Friday morning to everyone!  Hope everyone had a good evening, and slept well last night.

Coffee, freshly made juices, tea, cider, etc., are ready to pour, Friday morning danishes, doughnuts, bagels and bear claws are on the counter.

Dale, they did try, I'll give them that much.  On the other hand, it seemed to me that the guys as a whole, just weren't working as a t-e-a-m, and it could have been a more exciting game to watch, if they had.  Okay, getting of my SoapBox [soapbox] now.

Instead of a Friday Fish Fry, what do you all say about a Friday Fish Grill-Out?!?!

No problem.
Your boys played well, and I hope they get to enjoy a couple of days in Anahiem. Things looked promising after that 10-6 early score. It is kind of unfortunate that 32 teams only get to play only 1 game.
