A beautiful morning here - and 16 degrees.  If it gets up above freezing the maple syrup folks will be happy - many are already working in their sugar shacks.

Busy day today.   Lots of tickets to print.

Bearclaw and tea, and off to the print shop.

Good Saturday morning, everyone!  Joe and Ray, thank you both very much, for taking care of things this morning.  Didn't think I'd sleep in so late; guess my ole body said, "You're sleeping in this morning, lady!"

I heard from Duff yesterday.  Everyone is well, and Sadie is crawling around everywhere.  Hard to believe, but she'll be turning one year old next month!

Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day everywhere, which means there'll hardly be anyone in here, so you all take care, have a great day, and I'll see you all back in tonight for our Pizza Fest.

Joe, thanks much for making the coffee and setting the hot chocolate out! And the rolls are much appreciated by the rest of us.

I am now frying some bacon and pork sausage links, and the pancake batter is ready for pouring on the griddle. I've also got a big pan of scrambled eggs here. There is also french toast here for anyone who might want it. Chef [C=:-)]

It's been a short night for me here, I got home from my other job at roughly 10:30 last night, and will be headed for my main job at 7:00 this morning. I'm tired, but at least I can take a nap when I get home after 2:00 this afternoon. We have 29 degrees here in S.F., and there is a threat of snow here for later this afternoon or tonight. The couple inches that we had gotten the day before yesterday is now mostly gone, thanks to the warmth of "Mr. Sun"!

I hope the rest of you folks out there have a good day!

Good News, Mookie:  our Friday Fish Fry is now under way.  On the warmer bar:

Catfish, Cod, Flounder, Halibut, Haddock, (Dan's favorite, Perch), Salmon Patties, Shrimp, and Scallops.  Side dishes:  corn on the cob, fries, hushpuppies, macaroni and cheese, baked beans; and cole slaw in the cooler.

Desserts:  Chocolate cake, chocolate chip iced cookie cakes, yellow cake w/caramel icing; and the following pies:  apple, blueberry, cherry, chocolate, lemon, peach and pecan.

Our current temp here is 42.8.  Hopefully, we won't be seeing any more rain today, or any of the 4-letter "s" word.   Everyone enjoy your lunch, Mookie, (and anyone else who won't be around over the weekend) have a great weekend!!

Sure is crowded here this AM. Looks like I will have to "Goose" some of you to have access to the pastries CW has laid out.Whistling [:-^]

Bright sunshine in AZ mountains today, high near 70 and in mid 80's in Phoenix. Assuming my tactics are successful and I get a pastry or two I shall be reading the May Issue of Trains which arrived Wednesday.

Tree - wash your finners!!!

Quentin - they winter year round here as long as they can find open water.  I, like you, wonder how they can tolerate that cold water.

Sir C - ICKY!

CW - time for lunch yet?  Breakfast was at 4:15 and I am getting hungry.  Maybe I should try to make some goulash.....yum.....  Chef [C=:-)]

Green tootsie rolls...how appropriately descriptive!  We have lots of those big buzzards around the lake near our home and I find them to be nothing pretty to look at, rather I see them as rather ugly things that make a really big mess...not to mention scaring off the pretty ducks and other water fowl and scare the kids and dogs and sometimes the adults by hissing and snapping at them...they can all fly somewhere else as far as I am concerned.

....Interesting thought...Canadian Geese.  I don't know why here, but we have a population year around of them.  Perhaps several thousand.  How they stand to get in that water in the winter time {White River here}, is beyond me.

They can really make messes too.  And do, around in some parking lots close the river, etc.

Right before dark we see flocks of them {and as Larry said}, moving about in very large "Vs" to another spot for the overnight.  Seems the flock is getting larger with each season passing.

Speaking of birds - we currently have a very sizeable contingent of Canada Geese laying over in the area.  Many fields are filled with them.  It is quite the sight, and once they take to the air, their "V" formations are huge.

I ran into on-off-on snow during my drive back to Aurora, IL from Wisconsin last night...the heaviest snow was right near Rochelle (I took the "back door" route via Madison and Rockford to avoid Chicago metro road construction during rush hour) and the driving was a bit "dicey" for a while there and the front of my car is still caked with a thick coating of ice...but I am home now and ready for the weekend as it is sunny and brisk here with highs predicted to be in the mid 40F range today and a bit higher tomorrow for some railfanning I hope.  Hope you are all well.

....Overcast here this morning....Did hear 3 different thunder rolls late last night but didn't get any storms.  Street is mostly dry this morning.

Snow....?  Haven't seen any of that on the ground now for some time.

Would like to think we've had the last of it for this season.  One never knows.  They fertlized our lawn several days ago and the grass is greening.  Just hope it fills in the damaged spots that occurred with last season's drought.  If not, I'll have to be sewing some grass seed at some spots.

31 degrees when I first looked several hours ago.  It is pretty bright but still cloudy.

Still watching for our first sighting of Humming birds at our feeder.  Put it out this past Monday.  Will try to determine if one of the same birds will return.  It had an abnormality about one wing and we think we can identify it if we see it.  Some of them go all the way to Central America to winter.

Let me check my calendar.   Yep - March 28.

It snowed last night.  Not much - just enough so there's a cover over all the dirty snow.

There is still a substantial blanket of snow at work, as well as at the house, and the big piles of snow will be here for a while yet.

Bearclaw and tea.

Good Friday morning, everyone.  It's been a very stormy morning around here.  Woke up to thunder, lightning, and pouring rain at 2:19 a.m..  Now, the temps will be slowly dropping throughout the day.  Current temp is around 59, 60 F, going all the way down to 32,33 by this time tomorrow.

Coffee, freshly made juice and hot water for tea are ready.  On the counter this morning:  doughnuts, danishes, muffins, cinnamon rolls, bagels and bear claws.  And on the warmer bar:  turkey bacon, sausage, sausage gravy & homemade buttermilk biscuits, and tater tots.

Everyone enjoy your breakfast, and have a  great Friday!

I've got the next go around of pork chop abracadabera and side dishes on the warmer bar for supper (or a late lunch for those of you on the West Coast).   You all enjoy your supper, and Joe, maybe I'll try a little bit of popcorn later on tonight.

Fair 'nuff Sir Larry.  I think I'll put on a 'double' pot while I'm at it.  This stuff has a high octane rating and will surely get ya fired up.

Went digging through some pics and found some of the MILW 261 fresh after overhaul, the Neenah Roundhouse/Turntable, and the old Soo Bridge in Oshkosh.  Gotta get 'em digitized and then I'll post 'em.
