Well, unfortunately, my Kentucky Wildcats will be comin' home.  They didn't really play that badly, but I know they could have played better than they did.  Dale, thanks for manning the Cafe for me, so I could watch the game.

I can't remember the name of the little Indiana town, but saw on our local news last night, that this little town actually had the rain turning to snow showers yesterday afternoon, right around 4:30, 5:00.

I've set out some more beef tips and all the trimmings on the warmer bar, so you all just help yourselves; and have a good evening, everyone.

Sounds like southern WI/northern IL could get 10"-12"+ of the fluffy white "sunshine".  Didn't Ma Nature get the memo yet?  Willy?

Nope, I guess Mother Nature didn't get the memo yet. And it does indeed look like someone in northern Illinois or southern Wisconsin could see a foot of snow. What's interesting is the fact that there is going to be a very sharp line between tons of snow and no snow at all. This will be determined by the exact track of the storm system, which will determine where the temperatures will be supportive of snow and where they will be supportive of rain. Anyway, it's all missing Omaha again for about the 20th time this winter. Des Moines, Iowa measured about 25 more inches of snow than Omaha did this winter. Silly weather.

The way the weather has been ALL across the U.S., this could almost say "Anywhere U.S.A".

This was from the Louisville Courier-Journal for today. There's not of high water on the

Ky side of the Ohio, but Several small towns in In. are flooded quite badly; Milltown,

French Lick, West Baden Springs (the "Resort" at F.L. It's not flooded, but you can't

get to it except by boat.)

Hi CW. I made it, and I'll do the best I can.

It certainly feels like spring out here. A lot of the shrubs have open buds now, and the birds are singing. Swallows have been sighted as well, but not by myself. It is still too early for the Bald Eagle Cameras, but there is an active bushtit nest down the street.

Thanks CW for getting breakfast ready this morning, I appreciate it.  Today being the first day (or part of the day) of Spring we have a whopping 32F here in Aurora with a monster Winter storm headed our way tonight and tomorrow and into Saturday morning that is supposed to dump up to (Censored [censored]) ten plus inches of fresh white stuff (of which we have nothing on our streets or lawns right now and only some of the brown stuff in parking lot piles left)...oh well, so much for Spring coming early.

My "better half" and I will be chilling out this weekend after she had some dental surgery earlier this week and I paid a visit to the dermatologist for him to examine a few unusual lesions on my forehead, arm, hand and back (no doubt too much railfanning sans hat...let that be a warning to you all).  The good Doctor said nothing to worry about and zapped three of them with liquid nitrogen to freeze them off).

Oh well, keep warm and happy everybody and hope to see some of you trackside soon!

It's a very damp 34 here - with plenty of snow still around to remind us of the season from which we just came.  We were supposed to accumulate 1-3" of snow overnight, but we got none.  Not that I'm complaining.

Sure am glad today is my Friday.  I've got a lot to do and being at work is hindering the progress on my projects at home!

a forenail (don't have opposable thumbs...  Smile [:)]) of all the no-news from here:

No rain, robins galore, first day of spring, Happy Birthday Stacey, saw a track guage car with two FURX engines yesterday - doing the leads in and out of the yard - saw a couple of greenies - (nothing from DE, Joe) saw some ugh orange and saw a GP60 and a Dash 8 together.  That was fun!

Saw one of those cars that Sir Mud was describing as tipping over if you didn't anchor them just right - it was in with a string of tankers and then a tail end of X'd freight.  Moving somewhere to annoy someone....

67 degrees today, everyone I know seems to be healthy for a day and I have had a cup of coffee.  Come and get me world!

......Woopee....This starts spring....!  31.7 degrees right now and eastern sky shows the sun will be shining at least part of the day.  Rain has headed on east.  Muncie rivers did get high and out over into flood planes at places.

Happy B-Day [bday] Happy Birthday to Stacey!  Many happy returns!

I'll grab a bagel and lurk for a bit.

Hey CW-today is 6 months from my wedding, what say we have beef tips in gravy and/or as entrees tonite?  We can also have mashed potatoes, carrots, broccoli/cauliflower, and stuffing as sides?  The best part?  Strawberry cheesecake for dessert!

Well, since no one gave any suggestions for supper, here's what I eventually came up with:

Meat:  hamburgers, cheeseburgers; veggies:  fries or mashed taters & milk gravy, sweet peas and carrots

Desserts:  chocolate cupcakes, cherry and strawberry cheesecakes, key lime pie

Mutt went back outside a little bit ago, and we had another half inch of rain in the rain gauge.

Joe, let me know some of Stacey's favorite foods, and I'll fix them tomorrow.  What's her favorite flavor of cake, or other dessert?

Saw a Robin today...but no Batman!

I helped a soldier learn to swim about a month ago so he could pass his ROTC water test, which was last night.  When I started working with him he had trouble putting his head in the water.  To complete the test he had to swim 75 yards with BDUs on, disrobe (wearing a suit underneath tho... Whistling [:-^]) & then swim 25 yards.  After that he had to climb out, rerobe, and jump/get pushed off of a 3m board into deep water (18' in this case).  Kinda amazing to see him do all these things without struggle considering where he was a month ago.  It almost brought tears to my eye to watch him get choked up because he could finally do it.  It was his 3rd try (first since my help) and if he didn't pass he was out of ROTC.  It was neat to watch his whole battalion (officers and all!) cheering him on as the last 30 seconds of the final event ticked away.

Time to go workout again!  Back later/tomorrow morning possibly.

CW, by tonight my medical testing will 'all be behind me' so something with mashed potatoes and green vegies, and a good desert to get me back up to strength.

Another nice sunshiney day in AZ.

Well, Mutt went out to bring the garbage can after garbage had run, and emptied the rain gauge:  had right at 3 inches in it.  When the rain starts again after a bit, we'll see how much more we get in the gauge.  Talked with my sister this morning, and she and her husband were vaccuming water out of their basement.  They have an alarm on their sump pump, and she heard it go off this morning, around 4, 4:30.

Lunch menu today:  pizzas from last night, along with tuna salad sandwiches, fries, garden salads, and fresh pears from Produce yesterday.

Anyone have any requests for supper tonight?  Need to get started on preparing supper for tonight in about two hours, and I would like some suggestions from you all.

Robins just flew in a couple of days ago. What do they eat this time of year? And now for the bonus question. How come they hang out on lawns and not nearby fields?

We're just under a quarter inch of rain as I write this (since it started yesterday).  BUT, that rain is fallen on frozen ground covered with upwards of a foot of dense snow in most areas.   And it's nearing 40 degrees.

I don't foresee any flooding as such, but I suspect there will be some basements with water in them...

Joe - I told the Driver you had two greenies coming my way - keep them until the weekend if you can.  I can almost tell you what track they will come in on, too!

CW - Need good coffee, since I had to make it this morning.  Ugh...and I know it isn't the water since we have the world's best tasting rock water and the coffee is a good brand....altho it isn't too bad this morning.  My talents lie elsewhere - I am almost sure......

Driver home on vacation and with a 24 hour bug!  I am a great nurse.  Have a little knowledge, patience, soft hands, good bedside manner and a sturdy 2x4 since he won't listen to my advice.

....Still raining here.  41 degrees as we type.  Southern Indiana has received several inches of the stuff....Don't have my rain gauge out yet, so really don't know how much has fallen here in last few days.

Believe south of Indy there will be some major flooding.  Rivers here...weren't overly high yesterday, so far I believe the major problem will be south of us.

We {specifically}, are not in a flood plane but those that are, will see some water even in this area if it keeps it up a while longer.

"Rain, Rain, Go Away, Come Again Some Other Day"!!!!Headphones [{(-_-)}]  Good Wednesday morning everyone.  Another song for today would be "Singing in the Rain".  Our school system is open today, but there are plenty of school systems in the immediate area, such as the ones across the river in Southern Indiana, that are closed, and one or two that are opening two hours or so late.  Need for the rain to slack up a bit, so we can go out, check the rain gauge, and empty it.

Coffee, juices are freshly made, and hot chocolate, hot water for tea, and hot cider are coming up.  On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, toast, bagles, bear claws and muffins, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy are all ready and on the warmer bar.

MOOKIE:  I'll meet you over at the rockers, with coffee for both us, and a couple of beagles w/cream cheese for ya!!

You all have a good morning, and stay warm and dry, if you can!!

The weather here is going from spring-like to winter again. We're supposed to have a chance of rain over the next few days.
