Happy Thanksgiving from the Northwest!

I am thankful to be alive and well, and and safe at home.

I am thankful for TRAINS magazine, with its editorial content that I always agree with, and for its FORUM and you all who are such sticklers for correct information.

And I am thankful that, just ten miles from here, is one of the most beautiful stretches of coastal rail in the world; and maybe next year an extra daily train will allow ferry connections so I can ride on one of the most beautiful rail lines in the world and tell you if in fact Chuckanut is prettier than Devon, England; Santa Barbara; or Rhode Island.  Thank you, Senator Patty Murray!

Good Thursday morning, everyone!  HAPPY  THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE on this beautiful morning.

Coffee, juice and cinnamon rolls, bagels and bear claws are ready this morning.

It looks like several have already started what they are thankful for, not only in here, but on the Happy Thanksgiving thread I started yesterday.  Here is what I'm thankful for:  First and foremost, I'm thankful for my family, my country, our troops, past & present, who risk their lives so people can be free to state their opinions, and share their feelings and concerns, without some government telling them they are wrong to express their opinions;

Second, I'm thankful for the Trains.com staff who let us have this site, so we can all talk about the trains we love (be it steam or diesels), the knowledge of the ones who work in the railroad industry, enlightening us all.

And last but certainly not least, I'm thankful for all the good people I have "met"        on here, and the friendships thereof.

Everyone have a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING, take care, be safe and happy.

Thanksgiving greetings to all.  The pies are baked and sides are preped, but still much work for dinner late this afternoon.  Smaller group than usual, but with one new-born and one due in a week, traveling for some is out for this Thanksgiving.  We all have much to be thankful for.

Good morning, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING to my fellow diners of the Flat Wheel Cafe!!

I will be going over to my sister's house this afternoon for Thanksgiving dinner and I am planning on baking a couple loaves of my famous cinnamon bread to go with our dinner this afternoon. I will first need to run to my neighborhood grocery store and pick up a 5 pound sack of flour and a jar of yeast. This is one of those days when all of us will probably end up eating considerably more than what we need.

Right now our weather here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota is not too bad. At the moment we have 32 degrees and no wind. It is supposed to warm up to about 38 degrees here later this aftenoon.

For those of you who are traveling on this holiday, be careful on the highways, we don't want to lose any of our regulars of this forum!

Happy Thanksgiving to All!

A perfect Thanksgiving day weather wise.....31.8 right now here with bright sunshine.  That goes a long way in making it that much more pleasant.

Our family {in this area of central Indiana}, is small....and we'll meet at a location for dinner about 15 miles from here.  Anderson.

Spoke to them {daughter's family, from Indy}, in the last hour and we're on track to make our meet.  Grandaughter then will come along back with us for a few days.

We have mentioned our thanks on here in the last day or so and now is the day for all families to enjoy their get together.  Our wish is for all those to be very enjoyable.  And of course the good food too.

Families are the center piece for this day....

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving from Carolina. 48 degrees and bright sunshine this lovely morning. I had a bit of a scare, computerwise this morning. Somehow, a program popped up from nowhere, told me I had 19,300 errors on my hard drive and then locked things up to the point that I had to shut down. Then, after reboot, it popped up again and wouldn't let me sign on until the "errors" were repaired. I know better than to believe such rubbish, but it took a while to get online and of course, the first order of business was to find and get rid of said program. Now, everything is working and I am thankful. I just wonder how the thing got past my security and firewall. Everybody take care

DinnerHappy Thanksgiving to everyone in and around the country.

Bit cool this morning with a heavy frost early this morning here in Winston. Should be up to around 60 by mid afternoon. Turkey in the oven finished and ready for carving about two'ish. Should have some good green beans, mashed potatoes, squash casserole, and stewed Okra finished off with  sweet Potato Pie. Just the two of us this year with a long walk in the later part of the afternoon..

Heard from family in Florida getting together for dinner in Brandon. Younger preacher sister reveling in  afternoon of temps in the mid 70's. She is having Stepmom, one bachelor brother-in-law, my two brothers, their wives with 2 teenagers and 3 little ones not quite underfoot but active in a big back yard. Time will be spent by at least three of them with the new Lab/Plothound mix puppy (That breed that Mr. Tom and me would call a Lab/Coonhound) and a Labradoddle (my sister also has a mix the AKC registry). As for the two 14 year old girls, who knows what they will do. All in all it does sound like a lot of fun.

Back to work tomorrow and Saturday and off on Sunday and Monday,

Stay safe everyone driving and come home well fed and rested.

....Mission accomplished.  Just returned {with graddaughter}, from our round trip of 32 miles to have the Thanksgiving dinner with daughter and family.  Daughter arrived from the south and we from the northwest side of the restaurant location.....Worked out just fine.

Did so at Ryan's  and it was a busy place.  Performance was very satisfactory.....Food very acceptable.

Weather still bright and sunny and 45 degrees now.

Traffic light on the short distance we traveled on I-69.

Did not overeat.  Feel just fine....

Our Thanksgiving Dinner is now ready, here in the Cafe.  On the menu:

Turkey, dressing, green beans, mashed taters, dumplings, potato salad, Larry's cranberry relish, corn, and there's plenty of homemade rolls and crescent rolls, so come on, grab a plate, and head to the warmer bar, and fill up your plates. (Provided at least two plates for everyone.

I'm not sure of our current temp:  but, I will say this:  it has been a beautiful, glorious, very warm day!  We couldn't have better weather for Thanksgiving.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!!!!!!

Thanks for supper, CW. I am so glad everyone had a nice day. I found that my problem program rode in on another program I downloaded last night. When it wouldn't open, I trashed it, but too late.... Everybody take care and thanks.

Mookie, you should have been at my sister's house here in Sioux Falls. There was a mountain of food on my sister's serving table and I would swear that I've eaten so much that I could go five days without eating anything else! We had 12 people gathered all around one table and still we had enough food left to feed a whole army division!! ChefDinnerDinnerDinnerDinnerChef

BURP. Excuse me.

Bob, did you forget your manners here?! (I really should not be pointing fingers here because I've been guilty of other offences.)

Anyway, Good Friday morning! I figure that most of us stuffed ourselves with Thanksgiving dinner yesterday, so breakfast will be kind of light this morning. The coffee is finished brewing and I've mixed a fresh batch of Orange juice and there is also some pineapple juice as well. I brought in a generous assortment of rolls and donuts from one of our local bakeries.

I must work this morning, so I'll be headed off to work in about an hr and a half, I get off work at 2:00 this afternoon. Right now we have 22 degrees in Sioux Falls, and it is supposed to hit 45 this afternoon, looks like we are going to have a pretty nice day.

I hope the rest of you folks enjoy the day and stay warm!

Good Friday morning, everyone.  I sure do hope that you all had a very good Turkey Day.  I know we certainly did.

Coffee, juices and doughnuts, danishes and muffins are set out on the counter.  After yesterday, I don't believe too many of us would want a big breakfast this morning.  (Although, I am getting a little bit hungry this morning.)

If any of you are going to brave the Black Friday crowds to go Christmas shopping, please be careful, and keep safe out there.

OH!!!!  Hello Ray.  I must still be half asleep, since I didn't see you here in the kitchen!  It's a wonder we didn't knock each other down!!

Thanx for the reminder Joe!  I need to get out the rest of my decorations for the house.  I have my wreath up on the door and my Maxine pillow - "Christmas is weird!  What other time of the year do you sit in front of a dead tree and eat candy out of your socks".

Sun is out and as soon as it warms a little, we will be off to see whatever is out there.  I know the hardware store is on the list somewhere.

Happy Friday - shop 'til you drop!

...........32 degrees and bright sunshine here in Muncie on black Friday....Wonder how "black" it will be for retailers.

Had a good breakfast here at home and no one overstuffed yesterday, so no problems with that.

Granddaughter did some "copying" of CD's last night for me as I forgot what "program" I had used in the past....so now have a couple to send to some family members and I'll put one in my truck for my use.  Sounds as good as the original of course.  Truck has a 6-capacity CD player in it and that works out just fine.  Believe most S-10's had a single CD player from the factory. So believe mine is in the minority.  It's an S-10 Xtreme.

Car has a cartridge capacity of 6 or more....Don't remember just how many.

Does anyone know if an adaptor is available for a "picture" phone, to connect to a reg. USB cable to download photos to the computer....?

I'm not a "as up to date", geek as I might have been in the past.....Good I have a granddaughter to "help" with some of these items.

Nice weather today, but a "Low" system is sneaking across the lower mid west and depending where it crosses here....Sunday pm, we might see some snow....Heard someone mention an inch...but believe it's uncertain yet.  Don't want to have the winter tires put on the little truck yet.....

Edit:  J.....That hardware stop really sounds like fun....Those are real stores...!

Q - I sent him there to enjoy himself.  He couldn't get to the car fast enough!  He's the shopper in the family, and this will be like a kid in a candy store with a charge card. (thank goodness he is fiscally conservative)

Almost forgot - we will have a 2:30 pm matchup between the Husker Mookie and the Buffalo Mudchicken.  Our last football game in regular lineup and it will be right here in Star City.  I am hoping this will be one time I can get the best of the Mudchicken - Evil

I imagine folks want a break from all the Thanksgiving turkey & trimmings from yesterday; so, I've got our regular Friday Fish Fry on the warmer bar:

Fish:  cod, perch, jumbo butterfly shrimp, scallops, oysters and clams

Side dishes:  fries, hush puppies, cole slaw, fries, onion rings, baked beans

Desserts:  pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie, apple pie, peach pie, pecan pie, and yellow cake w/caramel icing, and also, chocolate cake w/chocolate icing.

As a treat for later, I got some popcorn to pop later on tonight.

Yes, Joe...you are correct.  The granddaughter did use that program.  I used to use another but have forgotten which one.  It's been a while since I used it.  Anyway, she got the job done and I've tried it in my truck and it sounds great.  10-4 on R S.

Well - back!  For some reason laptop didn't want to come here, despite my protestations.

I think it's still snowing at home - I'll have some work to do on the driveway when I get there.

A cool 25 here on Chesapeake Bay, but no snow.

Not a bad trip coming down, after I cleared the lake effect in NY.  Traffic was off and on - worst spot was in PA where an accident caused a semi to lose it's container load in the middle if I-83.

Dinner in Annapolis with both kids and spouses and grandbaby today.  What a sweetie grandbaby is - good natured and fun to be around!

Good Saturday morning, everyone!  Nice and cool out this morning, temp's in the low 30s.  It's supposed to be mostly cloudy today, with a high of about 48 degrees, and with a chance of snow coming in sometime late tomorrow night, into Monday morning.  May have up to about a half inch accumulation.

Mookie, I gather from your "Yessssssssss!", that Nebraska beat Colorado yesterday?!

Joe, thank you so much for fixing breakfast this morning!  Think I'll take a couple of sausages and a couple of pancakes this morning.

To all going out into the cold today, make sure you're bundled up really good!  We don't want anyone getting sick.  Take care of yourselves, and we'll see you back in here tonight for our Pizza Fest.

....Looks like a partly sunny morning as the sun is rising...24 degrees and no snow here.  But we too, might see some snow by tomorrow morning or so....Guess it depends just where the Low tracks as it passes.

Must take granddaughter back to north side of Indy this morning to meet parents....That is about 90 miles round trip.

Saturday Night Pizza Fest Menu:

1.  Anchovie

2.  Cheese w/extra cheese

3.  Hawaiian

4.  Pepperoni/mushroom

5.  Supreme

6.  Calzones

I made three extra large of each of the five different kinds of pizza.  If there aren't many people in here tonight, maybe we'll have cold pizza for breakfast in the morning, along with a couple of other items.

Everyone enjoy your pizzas, have a great evening, and take care.
