Good Sunday morning, everyone.  Not too bad this morning:  mid 20s here in the downtown area, and out at the NWS reporting station at the airport, they're reporting 23 degrees.  Going for a high of 50 this afternoon.

Mookie, glad you all had a good time with your guests.  They are pretty good people, aren't they?  Mutt and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit with them a couple of years ago, when they were here.  Just wish it had been a longer visit.

Joe, thanks for getting breakfast this morning.  I surely do appreciate having great help around here.  And, if anyone doesn't want leftover pizza or the doughnuts & rolls, how about some bacon, sausage, eggs, and biscuits & gravy.  I've got those things ready, and have added them to the warmer bar.

Everyone have a good morning, and for those going to Sunday morning Services, be sure you bundle up, so that you stay warm.  Also, if anyone has any suggestions for Sunday Dinner, please let me know.

Cold, but not as cold as some are reporting.  20.8 to start the morning.  Sun is about to peek over the horizon and the sky is clear.  Light frost.

Hopefully it is to warm into the mid 40's today....If so, bingo....I'm making another pass over the yard for straggling leaves, etc....But church and lunch, maybe at Ruby Tuesday's will happen first.

Edit:  4:50 pm.....Mowing and mulching complete.  And that finishes it for this season....Tractor is in the little barn covered up with plastic. Finish.

Mowed 41 times this season...Way below avg.  Must have been the over 2 months of dryness, late in the summer and early fall that said it all.

Feels good in here....Temp outside @ start 40 and now 38.  Sunshine.

Guess since Joe thanked me for supper, I'd best be getting something posted!  Been racking my brain to think of something to fix, and finally came up with:

1.  Pork chops

2.  Meat loaf

Both meats will be served with:  mashed taters & gravy, peas & carrots, broccoli w/cheese sauce.

Desserts:

1.  Chocolate cake

2.  Peach cobbler w/ice cream

You all have a good afternoon/evening, and take care.

Well now, thanks for supper. Both meatloaf and poke chops along with most everything else sounds super, but you can keep the broccoli. Chocolate cake and peach cobbler also rings the gong down here, Much obliged. Everybody take care

It's going to be a glorious day. I've started the coffee & squeezed some oranges. Thought I'd make Creamy Sausage Casserole this morning. One pan with sliced mushooms and another without. I've also made pan biscuits & sausage gravy.

Good Monday morning, everyone.  Bob, thank you for getting the coffee and, and fixing the orange juice!  Your creamy sausage casserole looks very good, and I can hardly wait to get a little bit of it, and with the biscuits & sausage gravy!Dinner

And welcome back, Bob!  Good to see you back in here.

Special Note:  If any of you have a favorite side dish that you'd like to have Thursday, please let me know, as I'll start preparing the side dishes Wednesday.

We have a current temp of 43 this morning, going for a high of 47.  Plus, we're getting a nice rain.  There's already been a couple of accidents, non-injury this morning, and the heavy rain hasn't made it into our area yet.

Have a good morning, I'll see you all later, and take care!!

Light dusting of snow over night and "red sky at morning,"  but it doesn't look like a bad day to this point (no sense discussing the temperature - it's cold).

CW - it's not Thanksgiving dinner without my cranberry relish - one bag of cranberries, one navel orange, one apple (cored), and one cup of sugar.  Run everything (but the sugar - at that at the end) through a grinder or the food processor.  It's best if made a day early anyhow, so it'll fit right into the plans.  For greater amounts, just keep adding one of everything.

Some people add nuts to the mix as well.  I don't.

Tree:  I love that cranberry relish.  I got it from a friend many years ago (when I was single and poorer) and decided I would impress my family with it.  So I made it with a hand held grater.  Do you know how long it takes to grate a bag of cranberries?  Won't even discuss the sore knuckles.  But it was eventually made and was a big hit at the family dinner.

Sunny - 40's for week.  Not complaining at all.

CW - not a big turkey/baked chicken/ham fan, but will eat all the accessories - except the dreaded asparagus.

Driver fixing cornish hens (I know - see above) for us, but he uses a special rub on them and they are very good.  They don't make "good" ham anymore - at least not around here.  Too much salt and water.

From what I'm seeing on here for weather, I'd say we're not too bad.  41.2 right now and a very light mist. Of course overcast and not very bright, but this is the time of the year we see minimal sunshine and when we do it's low in the southern sky.

Only one month to Christmas Eve.....

If the "market" continues as it is now, I'd consider that a great Christmas present.  Just peeked at it for this late morning time and it's up 316 after a 494 boost on friday....Wow...But we all know it's fickle and we're not certain it has much stability yet.  But I have faith "we're" getting ready to "work on it".....{I really mean work on the economy}.

So off on a new week and that includes Thanksgiving....Hope all on here have their favorite gathering of family and foods.

I am now back from going and getting my flu shot.  Mutt didn't go, because he's got a cold (with the works:  runny nose, coughing & sneezing).  Said he'd go get this one day next week.  Usually, we don't have to sign in, when just going for the flu shot:  this year, they're making you sign in for it.  Had to wait about an hour, before I got back to get it.   Did get to see part of a train on my walk over to the doctor's office.  I saw some auto racks, and a few covered hoppers.  Have no idea what they had in between, or what was on the head end.

Larry, thanks for your cranberry relish recipe.  That is on the list for Thursday.

For lunch and supper, I've fixed a beef & noodle casserole w/peas & carrots in it, and some tater tots.  There is also:  crescent rolls and plenty of butter to go on them, and some creamed corn.

For dessert today, there is strawberry cheese cake, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, and there's still some peach cobbler left.

It was raining when I left to go to the doctor, but had quit when I came back home.  Looks like it could start up again very soon.    Everyone have a good afternoon, stay dry if possible, and take care.

Hello from the NC Piedmont,

Here in Winston-Salem it is a beautiful late fall morning.

Rained yesterday and last night, makes the place look like it had a bath. Cool however with temps in the high 40's. Taking a few days off from work first part of the week, caught up on some sleep, got to get some chores done and made a good Lentil stew. Yard got raked for the almost last time and fixin to go get some early Christmas shopping done.

Hi everybody.  Sorry about getting in here so late today.  It was a very busy day at Produce.  I was over there all morning long.  And this afternoon, been busy starting cooking for Thursday.

Joe, thank you for taking care of things this morning.  And thank you for the ham and beans in the Crock Pot:  it smells very, very good.  (And the cornbread smells pretty good, too!!)

Roy, sounds like you've just about gotten everything taken care of for the winter around your place.  Way to go!

Tomorrow morning, I go back to the cardio-vascular doctor (a new one this time; apparently, my other doctor is no longer there).  I hate seeing brand new doctors.  I find one I like, and all of a sudden, 'poof:  they're gone!'  Appointment is for 9:30 a.m., so I will be picked up somewhere between 8 and 9 in the morning.

You all have a very good evening, and everyone take care.

Took some time off work to prepare for tomorrow's road trip.  Three states in eight hours! (A significant portion of which will be spent in PA, and that's going north to south, not E-W.)

The reward is a visit with the baby (and her parents).

More work to do.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Looks like another very slow night around here.  Guess we must have quite a few people who have already left, or are preparing to leave for their holiday weekend.

Coffee and juices are ready, as well as hot chocolate, hot water for tea, and hot apple cider.

On the warmer bar this morning:  bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, homemade buttermilk biscuits & sausage gravy, fresh pineapple, bagels and bear claws.

Larry, have a very safe trip down to son, d-i-l and little Evy.  Imagine you'll have some pictures to share after you get back.

I've gotten two Crock Pots started for lunch:  one with vegetable beef soup, and the other with beef stew.  Will be starting to get ready in in about a half hour, to prepare to go to the doctor this morning.  With my luck, my ride will be here before 8 a.m.

To everyone who will be traveling today to visit family for the holiday, please take care, have a safe trip, and:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE!!!!

In California police were called.
http://www.latimes.com/news/education/la-me-claremont26-2008nov26,0,1648912.story

For four decades, children at Condit and Mountain View elementary schools have taken annual turns dressing up and visiting each other to share a Thanksgiving feast. Controversy erupted after district officials last week decided to eliminate the Native American and pilgrim costumes from this year's event after some parents complained that they were demeaning and stereotypical. Other parents were infuriated by the district's modifications of the event, saying that administrators had bowed to political correctness.

And to quote a person from SD.

I do not know what is wrong with some people.  There is nothing wrong, in my opinon, of children dressing up in costumes depicting the Indians and Pilgrims for Thanksgiving.  I mean, after all, aren't they "reinacting our country's beginnings, and the two different cultures of the people who were already living here, and the new people, who came here to begin a new life.  Those people (the ones against the kids dressing up in costumes) need to get a life.

Got back from the doctor, just over an hour and a half after I was picked up at 8:30 this morning.  The new doctor said everything is fine, and I don't have to go back for another 6 months.  No shortness of breath, no swelling in my legs, and no hurting when I walk.  So, guess I'm doing "as well as can be expected!"

Soup and beef stew and freshly made cornbread are on the warmer bar, and ready to be dished up and eaten!!  So, everyone, helps yourselves, and enjoy.

.....Sometimes I wonder just what is going on with this new forum format....Just now, I tried to enter as I usually do each morning, but today a little late and  it put me through all the beginnings once again....Requesting my email and pass word, etc.....Also the  oldest to newest listing was changed from where I had it set.....Bergie....What's this all about.

Anyway....The sky is beautifully blue with bright sunshine and 39.2 degrees.  To be nice tomorrow too...50 degrees.  That helps on a holiday to make it that much better.

See Tree is headed down thru my home state....if he is staying in the eastern sector he should be in good shape with road travel...weather wise.

Niece from Philadelphia indicates no snow in that area and moderate temps.

Made a Dr's visit late this morning and have 3 prescriptions to pick up....So hope they help.  Itchy spots, etc...

Hope everyone traveling today has safety in mind and completes their journey successfully and without trouble.

Best wishes for family get together visits for all.....along with good Thanksgiving food.

We do have a lot to be thankful for and we are, and let's hope and pray for better times overall with our local to world economies this time next year, and perhaps more peace in the world.

Happy Pre Thanksgiving to all.

Driver took me to new 007 movie.  We had the entire theater to ourselves.  Just like the VCR and home - but the seats were more comfy.  Just lacked a fridge to raid.

Off to talk turkey....

Sarah and I worked in the kitchen this afternoon, and early evening; preparing the bird and a couple of other side dishes for tomorrow.  Turkey will probably go into the oven around 9 a.m. here at home.

Mookie:  gobble, gobble, gobble! (That's as far as I get in 'turkey  talk')

Everyone have a good evening, and take care.
