CW - do you know how hard it is to type in mittens?  Near impossible.  And that is here in the house!

Actually, the house isn't that cold, it is just me.  Was out in this miserable windy weather and now I am chilled to the bone.

I had pizza for lunch, so going to rummage around in the fridge and see if I can find some left overs.  May even take the time to heat them....Shock

Busy weekend, and it's not over yet.

Friday night I helped get the last wine-tasting train out, then went to a lecture and slide show about our line, featuring slides taken by a NYC fireman on a trip to Montreal from Utica.  It was interesting seeing how some of the spots we know oh so well looked back in the early 60's.

This morning we went to work cleaning up the train and getting the cars ready for Polar Express.  Didn't get it all done, so more work for next weekend.  Our volunteer appreciation luncheon was at noon.  Managed to join about 6 other folks getting a "Volunteer of the Year" award.  Oddly, most of the winners were folks who work with me on our Thendara runs.

Time for bed.  More to do around the house tomorrow.

Rain today, but the temps weren't bad.  Cold and miserable tomorrow, with snow.

....Hi Dan:

Just a little more trivia.....That T-10 {Warner Gear}, design originated in the Lab where I worked for 37 years.  Roughly 1956.

What do you mean by Warner Gear?  The truck I'm referring to was the 1/2 ton version of the 1991 Chevy S-10.  Sorry...and maybe it's the late hour but I'm a bit confused!

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  Well, we haven't gotten any snow yet.  Seems to be evaporating before it gets here.  They say we may even see some sunshine this afternoon.  Go figure!!  Our current temp this morning is 37 degrees.  Believe the high today is to be in the 40s.

Mookie, I can't even type in gloves, much less mittens.

Coffee, juice, hot water for tea and hot chocolate are ready.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, bagels and bear claws.

You all have a good morning, and take care with whatever you have planned for today.

Sorry, we both had a bit of confussion....I took your description to mean you had a 4-speed with your {Chevy..?}, vehicle.  T-10 was the 4-speed transmission we {BWA}, developed for {first Chevy}, and then others, etc..

One of the first uses was in the 1957 Corvette.

Understand you were referring to the 4 by 4 version of S-10 now...

We did install our 5-speed in the "S" series.

.....Our Sunday morning {at this hour}, finds 34 degrees, overcast and a bit of wind.  Just about what the weather folks said we'd have.  No rain or snow.  I did see  one or two flakes mixed in with some rain yesterday afternoon though....That was enough for me.

Might {possibly}, see a bit of sunshine late today according to weather people.

Good Sunday, all. The malodorus weather is past us, and the sun is out, but the rivers are under a flood warning. Currently 46 and clear, on the way to 60 later. CW, thanks for breakfast, everybody stay warm

That bad storm I made reference to yesterday went on into NC and spawned tornadoes, killing 2 and much damage, We, here, were blessed indeed.

Tom - glad you are ok.  Little late in the season for tornadoes, but guess they are like babies - they can come at any time.

Isn't that something about Calif?  I visited relatives many years ago in Yorba Linda and we drove over to Anaheim to Disneyland.  Also have been in Corona and Carbon Canyon - but back in the 70's, Carbon Canyon was really a canyon.  They really need to get rid of the burnable brush in and around all these areas or they will never get rid of the firestorms.

It is 31 and sunny and I am still shivering.

Mookie, and everyone else, to warm you all up, how about some nice beef stew w/cornbread for Sunday Dinner??Chef  I think that is what we'll have today, along with:  some nice, hot (heat wise) roast, taters and carrots, with green beans creamed corn, and some fresh-from-the-oven cornbread.  (Sounds pretty good to me, on this nice, cold autumn day.  And, there is some vegetable beef soup left from the other day, that is heating up nicely on the stove.  The beef stew and the roast, etc., are just about ready, and will be dished up and put on the warmer bar in about 40 minutes, or right around, give or take a few minutes, 1:00.

Currently, at 12:20, we have a temp of 41 degrees outside, and the sun is shining.  Haven't heard what the wind chill is, but I do see a breeze blowing the branches on the pine tree out front.

Spitting snow here all morning, but it's too warm for it to stick.  We have gone from the 50's down to the 30's though.

Ms Mook - the authorities in CA keep telling people to cut the brush from around their houses, but far too many of them like the "wild" look.  The do have a problem we don't face in the eastern part of the country - the Santa Ana winds.  Blowing in from the deserts, the air is as dry as....  well, you know, and it dries out the brush something wicked.

Couple those winds (which tend to be strong) with fire and even if you've taken all of the brush out, the fire gets blown over you.  The tendency to use shake roofs doesn't help either, but they look nice, too.

I'm in one of those conundrums today - I feel too tired to do much, but if I take a nap I won't sleep tonight and will be bushed tomorrow, too...

 Afternoon everyone.....

Sorry I haven't been in lately, have been staying busy at work, although now we are starting to slow down, usually it doesen't drop off until the end of the year, but with the economy the way it is, it fell off early.  Once I get this load to John Deere in Benson, NC, I'll only have 2000 miles for the week, down from my usual 3000.

Quentin, had a 1990 S-10 with the 5-speed in it, was a great starter truck, beat the snot out of it, always came back for more.  My two main vehicles now both have sixes in them, but I have all my cylinders in a straight line, and no spark plugs.Big Smile  Found out the shop had my company truck down to Caterpillar and had the codes repaired, seems to pull a touch stronger on the hills now. (as if one can tell the difference pulling 44k of Millercoors products up and over Flat Top on the WV Turnpike)

See everyone later, should be able to make it in for dinner tonight......

Randy, that would have been our T-5 5-speed tranny....We developed it in our {BWA}, lab here in Muncie.  Warner Gear Co...It was one of original Co's that made up the start of BWA.  Sadly, that facility will close next April.  Never thought I'd see the day that would occur.  In 2001 we celebrated 100 yrs. in business here in Muncie...It's now Borg-Warner Automotive {by name}, a part of BWA Corp.  Had 37 years there.....

The physical plant here is almost a half mile long.

Good Monday morning, everyone.  We have a temp this morning of 41 degrees this morning.  A little cool, and our high today will be in the mid 40s.  So not much of a temperature rise today.  Supposed to be going down to the upper 20s tonight, in the morning.

Coffee, juice, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for tea are ready.

On the breakfast warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, toast, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, bagels and bear claws.

I've got some vegetable beef soup on in the Crock Pots, and will warm up some beef stew for lunch today.  Mutt and I will not be around at lunch time:  have a couple of errands to run right around that time.  But, I'm not going to leave you all in the lurch for lunch.  Just preparing it early, so you will have it when you're ready.

You all have a good morning, stay warm, and take care today.

Thanks for serving breakfast, CW. I think I'll grab a few pancakes and a bear claw while I am in here.

Right now we have 30 degrees here in Sioux Falls, and it is not supposed to get above 34 this afternoon, but at least we are getting some sunlight, which I have not seen in at least a few days here.

I hope the rest of you out there are all having a dood day.

......33 degrees and some snow flakes drifting down around us.  Overcast skies and surprisingly bright....Nothing {of any consequence}, is expected from weather today, except it will remain cold for next few days....In fact, most of this week.  Believe sunshine is promised for last half though.

Tom...You must gain some control of that thermostat.....Being too cold doesn't sound good at all...

No snow where I sit, but the traditional lake effect areas are getting piled on pretty good.

I need a nap.

Good evening, everyone.  Hope you all had a good day today.  We have been home for a couple of hours, and it was cold while we were out.  After we got our business taken care of, and came back outside this afternoon, at least the wind had died down quite a bit, even though we still need the gloves and hats on.

For supper tonight, we've got:

1.  burgers with your choice of steak fries or onion rings

2.  clam chowder

3.  beef stew w/cornbread (still have some left, if anyone's interested)

Hope you all enjoy your supper, and have a good evening.

From an old Readers Digest, I think.

Guy calls the furnace people to get his heating/cooling system adjusted/tuned up/whatever.  The company can't figure out why the guy says he has to be there when the tech arrives.

The tech arrives and the guy tells him he'll have to show him where the thermostat is.  The tech spots a thermostat on the wall and says he's all set.  The guy tells the tech that that one is just for his wife, the real thermostat is hidden....

Good Tuesday morning.  We have a current temp of 31 degrees, should drop several more when daylight comes.  High today may reach 39.  Going to be a very cold day.  Anyone to have warmer temps in their area?

Coffee, juice, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for tea are ready.

On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, bacon, sausage, hash browns, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, toast, and, if anyone likes, have some cream of wheat also.

Sure was on the very slow side in here yesterday.  Wonder if some thought it was still the weekend, rather than a Monday morning.  Wink

You all have a good morning, and I'll see you all sometime later.

And a good, cold Tuesday morning it is! I've been up for about an hour and right now here in Sioux Falls we have a temp of 21.3 degrees. It is supposed to warm up to about 41 later this afternoon.

CW, thanks for serving breakfast. I think I'll pour myself a cup of coffee and grab a bear claw while I am in here. I've got the day off, and I am planning on making a pot of homemade soup this afternoon, but first I must go see my chiropractor, which I don't mind doing, but these appointments cost me $32.00 a piece. There was a time in this country's history when you could barter for the services of a professional, and I would trade my chiropractors homemade bread for what they do for me......if I could.

Got ya beat, Ray- my thermometer said 18 degrees when I left home this morning, and the temp monitor on this PC from the local TV channel indicates 15 degrees now!  No snow here, though; we had some flurries yesterday, but not enough to stick.

I set the thermostat in our house and it does get fairly cool.  But since Mr. Hot-year-round stays much warmer than I do, by the time he gets a "chill" - I am in blankets and all my winter gear waddling to the thermostat to turn it up.  Usually one degree will do wonders!

Wed will be very nice here, before going back into the fridge.  Will pass it on east, so enjoy it when it blows past!

Once winter really sets in, my humidifier is running 24/7.  The humidity really does make a difference - keeping it up around 35% or so adds significantly to how warm you feel, as opposed to how warm you are.

It's still not t-shirts and shorts warm, but it helps.

I'll be over in the corner with my bearclaw and tea.
