CW and Mutt, you must be expecting to feed a rail relay gang with all you offer. I will wait until I finish putting Super Deck on my cedar deck because I would need a siesta if I partook first.

Joe, glad to hear the wedding went well.  May the Happy Newlyweds have a long and blessed marriage.

I had Mutt fire up the charcoal grill, and have fixed the following for Sunday Dinner:

top sirloin steaks, rib eye steaks, tuna steaks, burgers, cheeseburgers, brats, hot dogs, pork chops, corn on the cob, grilled "baked" potatoes, grilled onions, green sweet peppers, red sweet peppers

Other side dishes include:  cole slaw, three bean salad, potato salad, baked beans, and cornbread (cooked on the grill in a cast iron skillet)

Desserts:  chocolate cake, chocolate pie, and the following cobblers:  apple, blueberry, cherry, peach and strawberry.

Good Sunday morning, to one and all.  Well, temp's not too bad this morning:  44 degrees, going up to 70 for today.

Coffee is ready, and I've made fresh oj and oj/tangerine.  Also have hot water on for hot tea.

Breakfast this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy; or, you can have cereal and fresh fruit.

Do I have any requests for SUNDAY DINNER??  If so, please let me know; if not, I'll come up with something, not sure what, right now.  (Think my body and brain are still too tired from all the walking I did at the Flea Market yesterday.)

The pizzas are now on the warmer bar.  On tonight's menu:  anchovie, cheese, pepperoni/mushroom, Hawaiian, and supreme.  Sorry about the short pizza menu, but this cook is tired after being at the Flea Market all afternoon.

Jack, sorry to report that they didn't have any railroad dining car plates out there today.  Not even any damaged ones!!  As a matter of fact, I didn't see anything railroad related, not even the railroad lanterns we usually see out there.

Hey Grampaw, if you're ever in the Lexington, SC area try the Harbor Inn seafood place. My wife is one of the managers- tell her you like trains and she'll probably only charge you double! They do a good job. You ever check out the South Carolina Central? Joe the Photog has put a number of photos on the railpictures site- seems they have an engine or two stored on a siding in the Bishopville area.

.....I thank you for the input Tom....Right before they stopped running on that route, on our way back from wintering in Florida for some years....I would get off the interstate there and drive back to Saluda to check it out and have lunch, etc....

Never lucked out to see a train come there and stop and make ready to head down that extreme grade.  Nor any coming up grade...None at all.  Waited around as much as 4 hrs. but guess it wasn't to be.....

Did enjoy our times there though when we stopped in at Pace General store...{wow, talk about going back in time}, and talked to Mr. Pace several times....Learned some history from him.

I'm sure the RR was not happy to have to run on that route but boy, what a spot for real fans...!  And what a beautiful place in the early springtime as we'd come by and see the new blossoms, flowers, and in general, things greening for the season.....But no trains.

Quentin, as far as I know the track is still there and weed control is still being done. There was some scuttlebutt a while back about some limited use, but apparently it hasn't come through yet.

CW, thanks for the Saturday AM elaborate spread. Since I will be overstuffed and unable to walk the Flea Market please pick up (I'll pay) any authentic railroad dining car dishes that are not damaged. They will be added to my collection.

I still call at small 'mom and pop' cafe's that my traveling experiences have found. It sure is sad to stop and find new owners, which usually means change from what got me to stop.

Tom, that Shrimp sounds very good, that's something I will eat.(and plenty of!)

It's not like I don't like fish, but just have a very serious "burn out" from having to eat

so much of it years ago.

It's about 50 degrees here right now, thankfully no rain, and not supposed to be any

chances of this weekend.  Editorial Cartoon in todays paper showed a sponge cut into

the shape of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, with the caption "Over Saturated"........

not sure if they're meaning all this rain we've had, or the political ads that have been running.

That sounds pretty good, sometimes places like that, are the best places to eat.

Hmm, wonder if the Mookster will make an appearance in here today since she's got a

'puter at home now? Maybe not, it might cut into her train watching time. (or "asparagus

edit: Noticed the Mook slipped in while I was trying to type.

Good Saturday morning, folks!!  Looks like we had a very nice crowd in here last night.  You all please the cook, when you come in!!  Likes to see and know that you all are coming in each and every day!!

Coffee and juice are ready.  On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  A big ol' feast:

turkey bacon, sausage links & patties, scrambled eggs, pancakes w plenty of syrup, country fried ham w/red eye gravy, home fried taters, muffins and cinnamon rolls and fresh fruit.

Planning to go to the big Stewart Flea Market that's in town this weekend; so, our Saturday Night Pizza Fest might be a little bit late tonight, but hopefully, it won't be too late!!

You all have a good day, and enjoy your big breakfast.

Brian, you are definitely talking my languge now...when I fix anything on the grill, that

is a very big part of my ingredients.

Cannonball, when I really did eat fish, I do like the catfish. Have never done it "Smoker

Style" though. Enjoyed catching fish, but never enjoyed cleaning them, especially catfish.

One of the best cats I've ever caught, was from the Ohio River, during high water, just

after the Delta Queen went past.

CW ; ~~~ Have you ever had  Channel Catfish from the smoker?? It takes bout 4 1/2 hrs. to make ,but it's worth the effort. With that you make cornpone and a fresh green salad / coffee or genseng tea.  With the high water now you find them in the back waters . Either gig em' or use a seine net.  ~~~ Cannonball

Like I said, I don't look that far down the menu.

Due to a problem in college, I had to eat a Lot of fish, now it doesn't get ordered very often.

.....Walt....Catfish is down at the right corner of the menu....I used to order Mountain Trout, but Catfish replaced it....

I do order the steak there too.  And it's generally good.  We seem to have a pretty good Texas Steak House here in Muncie.

Never had Fish at Texas Roahouse before, wasn't sure it was on their menu, but then again I don't look that far down the menu.  Steak or Porkchop for me.

But I will second mudchicken's Barleypop to go along with the meal though.
