I am leaving for 8 days in Colorado within the hour so you won't have to put up with my appetite hogging all the great food. But I will return with my fork ready and elbows extended.

I will be in BNSF territory like La Junta and Trinidad where the coal trains to Texas are frequent.

You all take care and keep em on the rails.

And a good Sunday morning to the rest of you out there. I reckon it's been a while since my last visit to the Flat Wheel Cafe. I too, am a bit slow in moving this morning, I got out of bed within the last half hour. Sioux Falls is shrouded in heavy fog this morning and we have a temp of 45 degrees. It is supposed to warm up to about 68 here later this afternoon. Yesterday our weather here was absolutely gorgeous, not a cloud in the sky and nearly 70 degrees here. I guess we can't have perfect weather all the time.

I don't have to leave for work until 11:00 this morning, so I've got some time to kill, and I think I'll grab a cinnamon roll while I am here. Special thanks to Joe for making the rolls and coffee.

Good Sunday morning, everyone!  Joe, thanks for getting breakfast ready this morning.  I've been up, just very slow getting in here this morning.  Think I'll get myself a cup of coffee, and a couple of cinnamon rolls.  And if I'm still hungry after that, maybe I'll get a slice of pizza left from last night.  Looks like there's plenty of leftover pizzas.

Hmmm, going to see what CSX is doing sounds pretty good.  Looks like you'll have a nice afternoon for it.

Ate out again.  It was good.  Actually did have pizza, but wasn't as good as the ones in here.

Perfect day - but busy, busy.  Weather couldn't have been any more 100% after a week of rain, cold and mess.....

We were all over town and heard that the coach did win!  And I am not sure, but think his defense did a very admirable job doing so.  80,149 fans in one spot kinda gives one a headache, but they are very loyal.  And noisy.

BNSF did well, but we just didn't have that much time to spend with them.  Will rectify that tomorrow.

Ah, life is good!

Well, we're getting that rain now.  Mostly a very light drizzle.  Didn't  get too wet when I went out for my walk.  (Just enough to mess up my eyeglasses, with all the little specks of rain drops on them.)

Here is our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

1.  Anchovie
2.  Cheese
3.  Chicago style
4.  Goetta
5.  Hawaiian
6.  Pepperoni/mushroom
7.  Pepperoni/sausage/mushroom
8.  Supreme
9.  Calzones

And the following dessert pizzas:

1.  Apple
2.  Cherry
3.  Peach
4.  Strawberry

Hope you all enjoy these pizzas tonight, and I hope everyone has had a very nice day.  See ya later!!

As for spring--surely you jest. It's windy and cold outside, with highs only in the low 60's! Shock [:O] Especially in light of 90 degrees F. high last weekend.

It is quite strange to wake up on April 19th out here with 8" of fresh snow, and more on the way. Totally unacceptable!

I'm sure some of our insect eating birds like swallows and warblers will not make it through the weekend.

Nice day here in Central NY.  Haven't been out yet, but the view out my hotel window is great!  Lots of sun, and I can see the CSX Chicago line from my window...

Wine train went well last night, although just walking through the cars was almost enough to get you a Rule G violation!

Off to take care of a couple of errands, watch trains, then work another wine train.  I'm the only trainman tonight, so I have my work cut out for me.

Spring game for our Husker football team.  I am excited.  Our coach has won a bowl game as an interim coach, a national title as a defensive coordinator and he will win this game cuz he is the head coach of both sides.  And he has yet to coach a game for the Huskers.  Whata country!

Off to see the BNSF do its thing!  May they perform well today!

.....60 degrees in Muncie.  Looks like we'll see some rain today at times.  Not to rain all day.

Must watch for a "window" of sunshine to get in another mowing.  Looks like it will be Monday which is to be nice as well as tomorrow.

Winter tires are off little S10 Xtreme now, so winter's officially over.  Actually, I've been putting it off for several weeks now and could have had it done some time ago.  Now it's so much quieter.  Hate that singing sound they make but they do help it get around a bit when it is winter weather and snow.  That and two special sandbags.

Our total snowfall {unofficial}, at our location this past season: 28".  Normal is 27".

Good Saturday morning, everyone!  Looks like it's going to be another fairly nice day; not expecting any rain at all, until around early evening (5 to 7p.m Eastern time).   Cannonball, I didn't think you sent the quake our way!  Didn't ruin anything around our house.  But, when the house started shaking, I was holding onto my coffee mug, for dear life!!

Got a biiiiiiiigg breakfast/brunch ready for everyone, and on the warmer bar:  turkey bacon, sausage patties & links (yes, they're pork sausages), scrambled eggs, hash browns, tater tots, buttermilk pancakes with several flavors of syrup, including maple syrup, fresh pineapple slices, blueberry muffins and strawberry muffins, and cinnamon rolls, fresh out of the oven w/sour cream icing on the rolls.

Got an email from JHH this morning.  He's been sick all week, with a very bad stomach flu.  Going to call him later this morning, and check on him, see if he's feeling better now.

You all have a great day, and see you all back in tonight, for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.

CW;  ~~ when I suggestedto hold on to the coffee cup because of ground shake effect from the train . The earthquake was not why I said that. We hope that didn't ruin the patio party. That ground shake always happned at the Railroad Cafe  in Washington Court House . Everything on the tables danced when the engines HIT the diamond.  ~~~ Y6bs evergreen in my mind.

The warmer bar as a fresh supply of fried fish, fries, hushpuppies, corn on the cob for your eating enjoyment tonight.  Cole slaw is in the cooler, along with the pies.  Chocolate cake is on the counter, in the cake tin.

Choochoobuff, here's a plate with a pork tenderloin sandwich, a glass of Dr. Pepper, and a banana moon pie for you.  And if you like, you can have some fries or tater chips, with your sandwich.

And I've got the Friday Fish Fry and on the warmer bar.  All the regular kinds of fish:  cod, catfish, flounder, halibut, haddock, perch, are ready, and the regular side dishes of corn on the cob, baked beans, hushpuppies, fries and cole slaw.  Plus, the usual desserts of chocolate cake, and the following pies:  coconut cream, cherry, peach and pecan.

Have a good afternoon, everyone!

I guess we shook a little here in west central ohio, too early for me though, I figured it must have been the wife snoring.  By the way, we got any of that Pork Tenderloin left, I could go for a sandwich, a Dr. Pepper, and finish it off with a banana Moon Pie.  Give me a cigar and a shack near the tracks and that is what I call heaven, at least here on earth.

Didn't feel a thing here in the wilds of northern New York.  Then again, we do have a quake-prone fault here, too, and have experienced a few minor quakes.

Off to cart some wine-tasters up and down the rails...

Joe,

Where did you see the Eagles?  I will be in your area in two weeks and would be interested in seeing if I can spot them.  Eagles are making a comeback here in southeast Virginia also.  We have seen them very close to the house at times. Also, is there any progress on the Fostoria viewing platform?

Quentin, I listened to the Mayor of the little town in Southern IL where it was centered interviewed on the radio this morning by a Chicago station and he said there was a little damage to some buildings but no injuries, thank goodness!

.....Some reports of shaking here in Muncie this morning....We did not feel it.  But we're at least 140 miles north from Lousiville.  They have changed the rating a bit now...Down from 5.4 to 5.2...Still if one was near the "center", I'm sure it would have been shaking more than a little bit.

In years past we've felt at least 2 quakes here in Muncie to the degree the utility poles and wires were shaking violently.  Buildings with metal braces {at work}, shaking and so on....That was back in the 60's.

Hope no one was badly hurt from this one centered in Ill.

We awoke to the earthquake news this morning but honestly I did not feel a thing here in Aurora, IL (about 36 miles west of downtown Chicago)...well, I guess I was sleeping THAT soundly and dreaming of trains I suppose.

It was big news this morning on our local channels here- it was felt in quite a few places, including one of our local hospitals (St. Lukes).  Epicenter was reported to be West Salem, IL., just northwest of Mt. Carmel on the Wabash River (Indiana state line), which is odd, as I don't think the New Madrid fault line goes through there.  Joanie was in the shower at the time, but didn't notice it.

Strength was reported to be 5.4- if you had damage from that, imagine what will happen when/if the big New Madrid shake hits...Shock [:O]

Good Friday morning!  What was rockin' and a rollin' at 5:37 a.m. eastern time?  Louisville,KY and several other surrounding Ky. counties,  from the 5.4 earthquake in Illinois!!  Haven't seen any damage reports.  Just people either rudely awakened, or experiencing the shaking.  It even woke Mutt up, and Sarah came down the stairs, wondering what was up.  I was sitting in my rocker recliner, and reaching for my coffee mug.  I looked at Mutt and said, "What 's going on?!?!"  There is now a minor report of a partial building collapse, as  the building facade fell.  This is close to the downtown area.

Coffee is on, and the usual Friday doughnuts, danish and muffins are on the counter.

You all have a good morning.  Sure does seem like it's going to be a very interesting start to the weekend.  Hope we hear from our forum friends who live in the southern area of Illinois, who were in the 'center' of the quake!

CW ; We will have a couple of those pork tender sammiches w/ horseradish washed down with coffee. Here on the patio, hold onto the coffee cup while train passing( ground shaking effect) and looking for sparks from dragging brake shoes. WOW ,what a night!!!

Maybe some of that brown mustard, Mook?  I can't stand the bright yellow stuff.

Looking like a beautiful day to work on the Wine Train tomorrow night.  Saturday looks just as good!

Sunday I get to play with television cameras again.

Just ate at the firefighters association meeting, but a brat does sound good...

Oh boy, looks like some of us are in a punny frame of mind this afternoon!!Smile [:)]

Hopefully, some of you will be in here this evening to enjoy what I have fixed for tonight:  Not only have I grilled burgers, hot dogs and brats, but I also have a pork tenderloin on the grill.   It will be ready to take off the grill in a few minutes, and it will be on the warmer bar.

It's such nice weather, I've just about moved everything but the cooler and fridge/freeezer out on the patio!!   We can all sit out here, and enjoy the comeradery of being with good friends, and watching the trains go by!!!!  I've even moved the rocking chairs outside this afternoon.
